Work Text:
I open my mouth to speak
But at some point in the space between the command and the execution
The signal is lost
You look at me
A frown on your face tells me so much and so little at once
Eyebrows furrowed
In confusion? In anger? I do not know
So much is happening and I find that the possibilities are too much to bear
I hope that you are not angry at me.
Existence is now a halting problem
The endpoint I cannot determine, the condition no longer predictable
And so I freeze.
Is this all that there is?
So much has happened and yet I am the same, I am powerless
You walk away and I close my fist
In myself I am adrift
I reach out for something to hold onto but I am swept away again
And for one instant I doubt
We should have died together
We should have died together
We would have died together.
A voice, a spark, a code, a story.
A gentle smile, a half-hidden smirk, a shout from another room
But still I am silent.
For how much longer will I remain silent?
