I laughed enough for people to stop asking questions.

Summary:

Sure, Wyll wasn't made out to be a good person exactly. But now he wasn't allowed to show emotions? Was it his fault he hated this odd feeling of grief after watching someone he considered a 'friend' sacrifice themselves to save both him and Slushly? The memory of hearing swords clashing before hearing one final scream was certainly not something easy to forget. Wyll felt like he wasn't allowed to express emotions as he felt a mix of anger, sadness and sorrow brew up inside of him. Until it exploded...

Mainly Wyll angst but also partly angst for Slushly

Work Text:

Sure, Wyll wasn't made out to be a good person exactly. But now he wasn't allowed to show emotions? Was it his fault he hated this odd feeling of grief after watching someone he considered a 'friend' sacrifice themselves to save both him and Slushly? The memory of hearing swords clashing before hearing one final scream was certainly not something easy to forget. Wyll felt like he wasn't allowed to express emotions as he felt a mix of anger, sadness and sorrow brew up inside of him. Until it exploded...

He lashed out on Slushly, finally letting out everything he had been holding back for months? Maybe even years now. Time just seemed merge together.

"Oh look the human being has feelings" Wyll snapped, baring a slight snaggletooth at Slushly, his voice dripping with pure sarcasm with a possible hint of relief. He just continued to walk forward not bothering to look behind at Slushly.

Slushly was shocked at the sarcasm as he stumbled slightly from behind Wyll, trying to catch up with the other man. "Well, I didn't exactly see you as the human being type." He spoke up without thinking. Those words affected Wyll more than he intended them too. Wyll felt his body strain as he forced himself to continue walking, trying to not show signs of weakness as he's say in the past.

Wyll didn't bother to look back at Slushly. "Does it even matter anymore?" He snapped back at the brunette haired man, picking up on the small, quiet confused sound. "I'm 90% sure Stormz has been giving people gear anyways. So everyone hear probably has full nertherite by now."

Slushly showed no signs of backing down, still having hope that there's good in the world. A hope Wyll would never understand. "Okay.. Okay," Slushly started, his tone much less hostile than before. "We don't know that yet... There's no way of knowing if everyone is actually against us." Wyll finally stopped to face him but Slushly could still tell that the other wasn't entirely pleased. "We could form a team? Just anything to help-"

"Yeah, yeah!" He replied, his hand clenching around his diamond axe before turning on one foot to continue walking without a care in the world. "Hopefull little Slushly... Thinking there's still good in the world. Gotta be someone to stick it to the man right?" His expression hardened at Slushly's stuttering like someone was trying to perform an unbothered apology. "How do you not get it man?"

The two finally stopped walking and just faced one another. The silence felt like an eternity until Slushly spoke up. "Get what? That you make a friend for the first time-"

Wyll just cut him. If he was being honest he didn't want to listen to Slushly's words, that man was way too kind and pure for the server. "You've seen what happens to good people on this server!" He watched as Slushly started to walk away. "You have just seen what happens to good people-!"

Slushly turned back around, the sun finally setting as the lightening effect around slushly's arms and legs glowed dimly. "Yeah you should know what happens to good people because you're the perpetrator... That like- Do you not get it? What are you sad?"

Wyll was once again struck by those harsh words, that just seemed to fuel his anger and sorrow more. "Do you not get it?!" He replied while raising his voice slightly towards Slushly.

"Oh I get it because I've watched it happen I've watched people I care about die." Slushy's words dripped with sarcasm... maybe with a hint of something else. "Oh no! This is the exact type of pain you've been putting people through for how long now? And I've been trying to make you see that!"

"No- You need to see that this is why you can't afford to be a 'hero' walking around with your little moral compass trying to save the world..." Wyll sighed, emphasising the word hero. "You're down to one life already."

One of Slushly's hands clenched into a ball as he listened to Wyll basically point out the obvious. But what would Wyll ever know the pain he's been through. "Yeah.. I'm at one life 'cause I was revived."

Wyll continued to pour the harsh truth onto him, not caring about his 'excuse'. "And it's going to get you killed. And you're going to think that I'm right." He didn't stop there, he kept going. "I may be banned. I may be gone. I might die. But one day you're gonna die too from doing the same bullshit."

Slushly glanced at the grass beneath their feet for a few seconds before looking up to meet Wyll's hard gaze again. "Y-You know what matters more? Being able to look back on the life I lived and realise I actually helped people." He took a breath to attempt to calm down. "Look, I didn't want him to die, Okay? I didn't. But you were the one who's gonna kill him in the first place."

Wyll despised every word that left his mouth as he forced a smile with pure rage behind his emerald coloured eyes. "You though you were doing this world justice by killing me. When you don't know anything about me. You have only seen this like- few weeks snippet of my life and then decide you know everything! In reality, you have no idea. But no. Your the hero."

Time seemed to stop moving as Wyll spoke up. Like he was venting his true emotions until Slushly had the opportunity to speak up. "I've dealt with you and five different versions of you on different occasions. An you just so happened to be the one that trapped everyone in your base and made them mine ores for you. All so you could make an army for whatever reason you had. 'Let's take oevr the server', y'know. Classic villain. Thats you. That is who you are."

Neither of them were backing down and Wyll spoke up again, feeling like nothing was getting through to Slushly. "We're all just bad guys, huh? So let's just all be bad guys" Were his final words before he started to crit out Slushly, instantly noticing how he wasn't fighting back. "You're not swinging back? You want us to be bad guys so lets just be bas guys then?"

Slushly winced as a major attack landed on himself, a deep gash. Crimson blood instantly staining his beige hoodie. "I'm not swinging back- This is stupid...Are you being serious?" Tears pricked his eyes, a mix of pain and betrayal.

Sounds of axes clashing could be heard as Slushly fought back. He didn't want to but Wyll wasn't really giving him an option. Wyll seemed all confident until his shield broke. "Yeah.. There goes my shield. Yeah you're right." He groaned as Slushly hit him one more time with the axe. "Yeah no, keep going. Just take everything out of my inventory while you're at it. You're gonna die in here too anyways." Wyll laughed as he dropped everything from the inventory including his armour. "I don't see why you think there's just some like- Way you and I are getting out of this." Slushly just seemed to stare at the now bare Wyll who had nothing but still ran his mouth. "It was your own hopeful naivety that got you and me into this mess. All of this was your fault. So we're both going to pay the price. Hit me, I'm on half a heart."

Slushly stood still, his grip loosening as his brain replayed thoughts of the time he had teamed up with Nufuli just to kill Wyll once... All of the effort he had put in just to kill one person because he thought it was the right thing to do. He was conflicted as he was given the opportunity to do it again. He took a breath before emptying his inventory and taking off his armour too, just like Wyll did. Their gear just laying on the grassy ground. "I'm not going to kill you." Slushly finally spoke up as the other man just looked confused, as if he had escaped death. "I'm sorry and I mean it. I know I'm naive. Okay? I get that. I'm hopeful. I- I'm stupid. I try and save people." He just glanced at the ground as he talked. "When I first joined the server. That's just what I learnt to do. I've ran into other villians that just wanted to do evil forever and I kind of assumed that you were like that as well. And maybe I'm just as bad as you are" He admitted.

Wyll had nothing left to say. He couldn't fully accept Sluhsly's apology but it was a start. It's not like Slushly would know that when he originally joined the server he had join with two of his friends... That we're unfortunately killed and he was the only one that survived with little to no injuries. And deep down, it hurt. A lot. He was always filled with regret and guilt deep down. And where did that get him? It made him become a horrible person. Maybe he made his bandits captured every new player on the sever because deep down... his delusion would become true and him and his friends would reunite together. Thing would finally be like how they were.

'Maybe in another universe...' Wyll thought to himself.
