𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘌𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘩 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳 has always known she wasn't "normal."
At least, that’s what her parents mutter between worried and disgusted glances, as if she’s some cosmic glitch that might short-circuit their carefully ordered lives.
But honestly, in a world where normalcy is just a well-worn costume everyone’s pretending fits, who really gets to wear the label?
Her so-called “ability” doesn’t sparkle or dazzle; it doesn't wait to catch up with you; it stops it. Apparently, it doesn’t make her special—it makes her a threat.
To whom? Well, that’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Her parents might see a danger, but to her, it’s just another reason to run—straight into the eye of the storm.
And that’s exactly where she’s heading: the infamous Hunter exam. Because if you have to face your reality, you might as well do it on your own terms—preferably with a sly grin and a pocketful of questions no one else dares to ask.
Time has a way of collecting its dues. (Name)’s about to learn—sometimes the debt comes due in the most unexpected ways.
“Why can't you just be normal and do what we say?” her father had said, face twisted with anger as if normality was some cherished family heirloom she was about to shatter.
But who really was normal? Not in a house where arguments constantly happened. Not in a world where time itself had a way of coming back to collect debts nobody remembered owing. Not in a world where everybody else had an ability of their own.
She stormed out, the front door slamming like a judge’s gavel cutting off arguments forever. The empty streets welcomed her with cold indifference, but her mind raced to the one place that might offer solace: her grandfather’s decrepit house at the edge of town — a place where secrets were buried like old photographs in dusty drawers.
Grandpa greeted her with the same tired smile, eyes crinkling as if they knew the script she hadn’t yet learned. “You look like a storm waiting to happen,” he said, pouring tea with shaky hands.
(Name) furrowed her eyebrows, jaw tightening, “I need out,” she quipped, the argument replaying in her mind.
From his weathered coat, he pulled out a signed application card. “This will get you through the Hunter Exam,” he said. “It’s your ticket—no matter what they say.”
(Name) took the card, the weight of possibility sinking in. The fight, the family, the suffocating label of ‘not normal’ — maybe she was about to rewrite what ‘normal’ even meant.
After all, time was patient but relentless. And (Name) Epoch Porter was just getting started.
