“Ack!”
The sounds of an in pain Ygor ring in the manor’s halls.
“Ygor?” A concerned Victoria watches as he trudges in through the doors from the outside.
Ygor slumps against them to close them before wincing with a pained hiss.
“Ygor, what happened out there?” She goes to him briskly, noticing his clear discomfort.
“Ugh… now Ygor thinks he might be a real vampire… oh…” He groans in pain, rubbing at his head and bending his limbs awkwardly.
“What the- what are you talking about??”
“Sun… the sun got to Ygor, boss…” He admits, exhaustion and shame heavy on his tongue.
Victoria really looks at him now. His whole face is bright red around his goggles, especially his big nose and the tips of his ears. His sleeves are rolled up past his elbows, arms matching the same color of his face.
The doctor sighs, beckoning Ygor to follow her after a shake of her head and a much needed eye roll. The little weirdo never knows how to stay out of trouble, does he?
“Sorry, boss…” He mumbles pathetically to the floor as he follows her, shrinking in on himself.
“How did you get sunburnt?” She asks him, trying (and failing) to not sound annoyed.
“It’s just too hot out there, Doctor! Ygor got all the sweats under his gloves and shirt. Apron got too heavy and in the way while carrying tools, too. It’s hotter than the phantom’s fire organ out there!” He flails his arms then jerks in pain from the movement bothering his burns.
“Come on,” Victoria leads him to the bathroom. “Get some aloe on. It’ll help.”
“You got it, boss…”
Victoria grabs and hands him a small bottle of aloe from the cupboard above the sink, but he can barely move without being in pain. She sighs again with a tsk or two.
“Hold out your arms,” She directs him. He does, eyes trying to look at anywhere but her.
Victoria squirts out some aloe onto her fingers. The moment she puts her fingers to his arms, he snaps them back.
“Gah! Cold! Hurts!”
“Stop moving, you little-” She darts her hand out to grab his wrist, but captures his hand instead.
If Ygor wasn’t bright red from the burn, the blush rushing to his cheeks would be all telling.
They’re frozen for a moment, Victoria’s hand wrapped around Ygor’s. It feels… kinda nice, in a way.
She lets go, blinking as she brushes the weird emotions off.
“Okay, Ygor, don’t move this time. Now you know what to expect. Got it?”
Ygor nods, throat dry.
She reaches out, gently meeting her aloe tipped fingers to his arm. Ygor inhales sharply at the contact, but relaxes as she gently spreads it across his skin. It still hurts, but the fact that Victoria is being gentle is… nice. Neither speak as she massages the aloe on him, her touch feather light. Caring. Easy. Ygor likes seeing this side of her.
She does the other arm as well, being careful of his pain. He studies her, interested in how she perceives him. Her brow is furrowed slightly, concentrating. He admires her focus.
“Uh… Doctor?” He shyly speaks up after a few minutes. It appears she got lost in thought and is now just absentmindedly rubbing his arm with her thumb.
She blinks to the present, noticing what she’s doing and yanks her hand back. Oh boy…
“There, the aloe’s on,” She tells him. “You can take care of the rest of your burns. Remember, only up to four times a day. And try not to be in the direct sunlight if you can. Stay in the shade.”
“Sure thing…” Ygor replies, only half listening as the other half of him is focused on how her touch felt.
She’s gone, leaving him to take care of the rest of himself. Ygor smiles, confused but pleased at what just occurred. His skin may be sunburnt, but in that moment his Doctor helped cool him down.
