Chapter Text

Jeong Haseong is making a wincing face and nervously pulls a cleaning wipes out of Kim Kiryeo's hands, with unnecessary fuss as he's protesting.

“No, why are you cleaning! You just got out of hospital,” the generous apartment owner is overreacting.

“I'm already fine, not like your kitchen is dungeon space,” Kim Kiryeo sighs. He thought that it would be more in line with earthling habits to at least do something around the house while the landlord offered him a place to stay with no rent or utilities bill. He already was lazing around using his convalescence as an excuse to why he's taking a break from raiding, but he never expected earthing to exaggerate so much about such minor inconvenience as a singular asshole indiscreetly mentioning the word "cancer".

Seriously, the repentance must've been just a fancy joke for the guy to just start babbling as soon as he left line of sight.

“I will hire someone right away so you won't need to worry about dust,” Jeong Haseong continues fussing all on his own, making the whole misunderstanding up on his own.

“I'm fine, Haseong-ah. Dust won't hurt me, I just wanted something to do. There's no need to waste money just because I'm staying over for a bit,” the alien quickly tries to diffuse the situation, but the confiscated wipes stay in hands of an overly excitable earthling. Telekinesis to try to get them back… probably wouldn't be worth the effort.

If he's not getting tools back he can just use magic bit by bit to put the abode in order while Jeong Haseong is not looking.

But for now he plays along, shifting his attention to the fridge with a single box of a ready-made dish inside, accompanied only by a row of water bottles.

“I told you to take better care of yourself, didn't I?” Kim Kiryeo scolds the earthling lightly, deciding that he might actually be able to bring some benefit to this reckless earthling who had ignored his kind advice so far.

Jeong Haseong looks away in what eathling information network suggests is expression of guilt. “Cooking takes too much time…”

“Why are you still too busy? I told you before that your health will suffer if you don't rest,” Kim Kiryeo complains, before he pointedly disconnects the coffee machine. Even if sorcerers of earthings surely can't be affected by chemicals inside of the coffee, he would rather use this excuse to avoid the morning smell of glue that earthlings seem to favor.

“I can prepare meals,” he offers to offset the offense of putting away the device. “I’d just need you to help me with ingredient shopping.” The muscle memory of cooking and the knowledge lingering in neurons of timing is proven well enough to make the offer with confidence, in case the hunter in front of him hasn't developed such abilities.

Jeong Haseong stares in surprise at Kim Kiryeo for a moment before a small smile spreads across his face. “Alright. I’ll buy us food.”

“Let’s go shopping together,” Kim Kiryeo suggests instead, turning in place to grab his shoes. He might need to purchase some clothes as Seo Esther always insisted that he keeps a few changes of suits. Hopefully he can coax Jeong Haseong into more generosity with a promise of repayment after the matter of re-issuing the bank card is solved.

Jeong Haseong smiles at that and walks with a spring in his step, by all appearances pleased with the development of the situation.

Kim Kiryeo is briefly puzzled about being led to a car rather than walking to the street with a bus stop, but the moment the gate opens he can see few earthlings outside looking towards the car, many with the cameras aimed in their direction. Likely they might have caused obstruction to use of the public transport.

It's not long before Jeong Haseong drives them to a local shopping mall. The tall earthling guides Kim Kiryeo with a bit too attentive glances, forcing him to straighten his gait against faint pull from old scars in his leg. Causing the man unnecessary worry is only likely to lead to further unnecessary complications to his activities.

“We don't have to rush,” the earthling hunter says softly, looking around before he lets a bit more of his aura slip out, creating a pressure that urges regular humans to get out of their way.

Kim Kiryeo walks calmly, deciding that it’s pointless to assure this helpful mammal that concern is not necessary. As long as the hunter is not going to get called for an emergency they could have time, it’s just strange to see him not working. Willingly.

“It’s nice to see you decided to have a break with me,” the alien comments as he takes a look at the storefront, the glass display presenting clothing items of quality which Seo Esther would quickly drag him away from. And so he decides to go past the shop without coming inside to avoid future conflict with the curse user.

A warm hand finds his, with pull so gentle it barely registers. Jeong Haseong seems to treat him as if he’s fragile even as he is leading him into the shop he was planning to pass by.

“You need comfortable downtime clothes,” the hunter explained mildly, still holding his hand. Actually, it feels like he has just as much choice as when Seo Esther was dragging him around boutiques.

“Alright. I’ll rely on you to help me pick something,” he agrees easily. Hopefully having someone to guide him will be enough to not get murdered for poor fashion choices.
