Microphone's Recruitment
Summary:
This is merely a practice piece involving Taco's fancy dialect and my attempt at writing it out, in-character. This isn't a full-fledged work, hence it being only 189 words. But if I had to give a clear-cut, brief summary:
After months of spying on an amusing gang member, Taco decides to have some fun for once and recruits the failing rebel into her assassin operation.
Notes:
For more context: This is in relation to an II assassin AU that I've thought up, but haven't begun working on yet in the slightest. The main premise is about The Bright Lights and The Grand Slams being two notorious assassin groups in a fairly large, coastal city called Inanimate Bay. They're basically competing to be the better group, either through killing more objects, killing more wealthier objects, or by having more riches themselves.
Taco owns The Grand Slams in this case aaand ... I actually haven't thought of who owns The Bright Lights yet. Everything's still a big WIP. ૮ ˙ ﻌ˙ ა
Enjoy the only content surrounding this AU for now, I guess!
(See the end of the work for more notes.)
Work Text:
“So, your little wolf pack is heedless to your ... less-than-average ministrations and you’re hoping to induce a sense of grandeur by climbing up the ranks in my, more often than not, ruthless campaign of stoic, murderous psychopaths? I presume?”
Microphone blinked. “I ... didn’t say any of that! But yes, how’d you know?”
Taco grinned with barely concealed mirth. “Like the ones before me, I have eyes on this city. You’re virtually like a next-door-neighbor.”
“You’ve ... been spying on me?!”
“Of course! But don’t worry, darling. Don’t feel left out. You’re not the only one.” Taco grinned and stood up on her already high post.
“Anyways, Microphone, you’re in. I can clearly see your potential and I believe you have the means to use it in this field. And don’t worry about the “stoic, murderous psychopaths” I mentioned. That description was a little overkill and I do promise that my underlings aren’t all that bad ... if not a bit foolish. They mean well though; you’ll all get along splendidly, I’m sure of it.”
At Microphone’s puzzled gawk, Taco cleared her throat.
“But I digress. Microphone, welcome to The Grand Slams.”

Thanks for reading!▼(´ᴥ`)▼
Also, first work on this account! Never thought it'd be this one, but here we are. I give this piece a 9/10; I think I did well, but at the same time, I'm a sucker for action sequences and other descriptive prose in-between. I also wish it was a bit longer, but I don't feel the need to go back and edit it entirely.
I promise I have longer things in store to write. A few really big things, actually. For now, I'm starting off small until I have the confidence to build upon my bigger works. Hopefully I'll have something a bit longer to post very soon though!
