Work Text:
Danny and Damian were having a small, casual little date. One that they were having in their civilian identities. It was also one of their first dates.
They’d met first as Phantom and Robin when Danny moved into Gotham to start going to college and was establishing the city as another Haunt (Amity was still a Haunt of his but if he was going to live somewhere else he needed to establish a new Haunt for ghost reasons). He’d run into Batman and his Bats since they thought he was a new meta. They’d had a conversation (read: Danny spoke at them while Batman just grunted and Nightwing translated) and eventually Danny was allowed to help them with patrols. He would’ve done patrols anyways, but it was nice to have permission.
Then they’d met as Danny and Damian at Gotham U when they shared one of their core classes. Damian was an art major and Danny an engineering major so otherwise they wouldn’t have many options to share classes.
Once they’d realized each other’s identities (case gone wrong), Damian ended up asking Danny out. They’re actual first date had been in the Infinite Realms at an art museum that had completely unseen and lost art from a number of different artists throughout time. They’d only seen part of it but Damian had already declared no other date would ever be able to top it. And here they were on their first date as civilians. Hopefully paparazzi wouldn’t find them just yet.
As they were chatting in their little booth at the small little restaurant they were in, three people came in and made a beeline for the table. Those same three people squeezed themselves into the booth on Danny’s side, surrounding him.
Ellie had climbed over Danny to sit on his other side, bringing Jazz with her, while Dan (reformed and deciding he was their older brother due to the time difference and combination with Plasmius - which they’d actually been able to mostly get rid of) sat on the outside of the booth. Danny was well and truly boxed in and he just sighed while his three siblings started glaring at Damian. Damian was hard to scare - part of being Robin - but two of his siblings were halfas and the other was heavily liminal, so they all exuded ‘beware’ and ‘danger’ vibes. He noticed that Damian was a bit more tense than usual but he hid it well.
There was silence for a few moments while the siblings glared at Damian and he looked back, utterly confused.
“So, you’re the one my baby brother has started dating,” Jazz said, looking Damian over once more and narrowing her eyes.
“Guys-”
“How have you proven you’re worthy of him?” Ellie asked, cutting Danny’s protest off. He rolled his eyes at their protectiveness. So a couple of his exes had tried to kill him, big whup. Nearly everyone he knew had tried to kill him at least once (whether intentional or through mind control) so he didn’t really get the concern. It wasn’t like he was dating one of Gotham’s rogues.
Before Damian could respond, a large group of people came through the restaurant doors and made their way over to their booth. Damian looked over and loudly groaned while rolling his eyes.
Wow.
That was very un-Damian like and Danny was now worried.
There were - Danny had to count here - six people that had marched over and were currently squishing Damian between them just as Danny’s siblings had done.
Danny then realized he was looking at all of Damian’s siblings (Steph counted since she was dating Cass, though Damian told Danny that Bruce had considered her his for years).
Fun.
Damian ended up with Steph, Cass, Duke, and Tim climbing over him and/or the table (Cass opted for the easier option of going under the table) to get to the other side of him while Jason and Dick just sat on the outside of the booth, like Dan had on Danny’s side, with Dick being the one right next to Damian since he was objectively Damian’s favorite sibling.
Danny was just realizing that both his favorite sibling and Damian’s favorite sibling helped raise them at some point. Jazz would probably catch on to that at some point, considering she was Danny’s favorite sibling.
“What are you imbeciles doing here?” Damian asked, annoyed and squished. Dick just gave a feral grin.
“We had to meet our baby brother’s new boyfriend! Why didn’t you tell me you had a boyfriend? I had to find out from Tim who overheard you making plans with him!” Dick pouted, ignoring the glare Damian was levelling at him. The rest of the siblings were looking over Danny and his siblings. He noticed a couple of them looking between him, Ellie, and Dan, likely noticing that they were nearly identical. They would’ve gone with a lie about being triplets if they even looked the same age, but it was pretty obvious that Dan was older and Ellie was younger than Danny.
“Damn, little bro, you found a boyfriend with a fuckton of siblings. What, the three of us weren’t enough?” Dan asked in jest, jostling Danny’s shoulder and he just glared at him in response.
“How did you three know about my boyfriend and date?” Danny asked. He hadn’t told any of them yet. Jazz smiled at him with the same feral gremlin grin they all inherited from their parents.
“Well, Ellie noticed that you were looking at your phone a lot when you two met up last week, and Dan noticed that you’d been really happy when you had your video call, and of course I knew who you’d most recently been hanging out with and who you’d mentioned as a new friend not too long ago. It wasn’t hard for me to figure out that you two had started dating and then Ellie was going to visit you but instead she found out about your upcoming date so instead of popping out to scare you like she intended, she found Dan and I to tell us about it and we decided that we needed to meet your new boyfriend,” Jazz explained, a ‘sweet’ smile on her face the whole time. Danny vaguely noted that Damian’s siblings looked surprised and Steph was cackling while nudging Tim. Danny just stared at his older sister.
“What the actual fuck? Do I get no privacy in this family? Also, where the fuck were you hiding that I didn’t know you were there?” Danny directed the last question at Ellie.
“Not telling cause then you’ll find me next time I’m there to scare you,” she replied, gremlin grin in place.
“Oh, I like you,” Steph said, a gremlin grin on her face too.
“You’re not the only one who apparently has no privacy or decent siblings,” Damian muttered, drawing Danny’s attention and Danny had to smother a laugh at the disgruntled look his boyfriend was wearing from where he was squished between his siblings. “Why exactly has our date been compromised by nine people who’ve decided to sit in the same booth as us?”
“Shovel talk,” was the immediate response from both Jason and Ellie. The two just looked at each other and did an air high five.
“We just wanted to meet your boyfriend! No shovel talk necessary,” Dick said, shooting a glare at Jason who shrugged with no remorse. Damian scoffed.
“Tch, as if I’d believe such a lie,” Damian said, arms crossed.
“So… how’d you two meet?” Steph asked, trying to change the subject and also get information on Danny based on the glimmer in her eyes.
This was going to be a long lunch.

The lunch date that Danny and Damian had planned turned into an hours-long, sibling-filled, chaotic mess. Danny hadn’t planned for Damian to meet any of his family yet. He was just thankful his parents weren’t included in this. And while Danny had met Damian’s siblings, it was as the Bats while he was Phantom. To his knowledge, none of them knew he knew their identities or that he was Phantom, though Duke and Cass kept giving him weird looks and he just knew they probably knew and would let him know somehow either by getting his number and texting him or mentioning something about it next time he saw either one or both of them.
Maybe they’d help him prank some of the family.
Right now, the two of them had retreated back to Danny’s place after they finally managed to extract themselves from the hoard of siblings, and were lounging on his sofa.
“I’m so sorry my siblings crashed our date,” Danny said, sighing at the endless teasing texts he was sure to get from them.
“My siblings also showed up uninvited and caused even more of a disturbance,” Damian added. “I have too many siblings due to father’s inability to not keep adopting more and they all decided to show up. We are just lucky that Gordon did not also show up with the others.”
“Both of our families are just chaotic is what I’m gathering from all this.”
“You have seen us on slow patrol nights. This is not new information,” Damian said with a slight smirk. Smartass.
“Well, you’ve now seen my siblings. Well, two of them are technically not actually siblings but that’s beside the point. Oh Ancients, how much do you think your family will freak when they find out that one of my sisters is actually my clone and my older brother is actually a reformed evil future version of me from an erased timeline?”
Damian thought about that for a moment.
“Hm, I assume Richard will have to ‘reboot’ as they say and Drake will probably take it as casually as he does everything else. Todd may have trouble processing the information as will Thomas. Cain will likely accept it and Brown will probably just start needling at Tim over Ellie being a clone.”
“Yeah, that tracks. I want to be dating for just a bit longer before I start unleashing chaos on your family though.”
“Agreed. I do not like how much of your time they stole from me today.”
Damian was pouting and Danny enjoyed it, knowing if he pointed it out that Damian would just deny and stop pouting at that moment. It was really cute when Damian let himself feel things whether he planned to or not.
“How about we just reschedule that date for right now and stay in? I can order some food for dinner a bit later and we can watch some movies?” Danny asked, leaning into Damian’s side. Damian smiled and kissed Danny’s cheek.
“That is amenable.”
Danny chuckled a little and turned on his TV, not wanting to move from where he was and Damian had thrown an arm over Danny’s shoulder to keep him where he was tucked into his side. Danny just soaked up his boyfriend’s warmth and let the first movie play.
