Chapter 1: Tarot Club

Chapter Text

Details

Name: Tarot Club

The Tarot Club is, potentially, a very dangerous faction. It is unknown when it was initially formed. The first known member to join the cult of The Fool was Azik Eggers. In retrospect, this explained his disappearance from the monitoring of the church. However, it wasn’t until the appearance of Utopia that the churches became aware of the Tarot Club. It is suspected that by that point the club had four angels. These are Azik Eggers, Pallez Zoroast, the President of the Life School of Thought, Will, and the founder of Utopia, Gerhman Sparrow.

Since that time and the writing of this entry, there are now 10 suspected angels with the Tarot Club. We believe that they make up the Major Arcana of the Tarot Club. Some of them remain unknown, only known through their Major Arcana cards. However, some are personally known. The most recent angel is a traitor to the Church of Storms, Alger Wilson.

There are confirmed to be Minor Arcana. Some have been seen, but it is unknown just how many Minor Arcana there are. We have confirmed the existence of three Minor Arcana, the Page of Wands, the Eight of Swords, and the Seven of Wands. All three cards were found around crime scenes.

The Page of Wands card was found in the destruction of Hartlarkh Village. The villagers were all killed and many buildings had massive claw marks in them, as if from a dragon. The Eight of Swords is confirmed to be Blazing Danitz Dubois. He had accompanied Gerhman Sparrow on his travels and seems to have joined the Tarot Club as a result. The Seven of Wands card has been found mainly in Intis, in the scene of Cordu Village and then most recently, was found in the heart of Trier.

Of the confirmed members so far, only a few have confirmed Major Arcana. Alger Wilson had been confirmed as the Hierophant, Azik Eggers is known as Death, Will is known as Wheel of Fortune. The traitor of the Evernight Church, Leonard Mitchell has been said to hold the card of The Star. Then of course the deity of the Tarot Club is known as The Fool. This meant he was associated with the Fool card. There are also unknown Major Arcana card holders. At this stage, they include Strength, High Priestess, the Hermit and the Magician.

The pathways of the Tarot Club are diverse. They do not appear to be constrained or strict in recruiting just one pathway. The Eight of Swords is confirmed to be of the Hunter pathway. Azik Eggers, as the son of Death, is of the Corpse Collector pathway. Alger Wilson has been confirmed to be on the Sailor pathway, having advanced to sequence two Calamity. Leonard Mitchell had been a sequence three Horror Bishop whilst under the Evernight Church and the Evernight Godess has confirmed that Leonard Mitchell has advanced to sequence two Servant of Concealment.

The Tarot Club has been known to operate across the entire globe. Known locations include the Sonia Sea where the Eight of Swords operates along with the Hierophant. The Seven of Wands has only been spotted in Intis. However, other angels like Azik Eggers or Gerhman Sparrow have been reported across both the Northern and Southern Continents.

The Evernight Goddess has commanded a neutral approach when dealing with the Tarot Club. This is a message that all churches appear to be utilising. The Evernight Church had been ordered to not retaliate against the Tarot Club in revenge for Leonard Mitchell’s desertion. Not even the Church of Storms has pursued the betrayal of Alger Wilson. However, it is expected that if the members directly attack or do something horrific, then they are to be treated like any other evil organisation. But as it stands, the Evernight Goddess and all other churches have shown tacit approval of the organisation. This makes the group reasonably benign as if they were truly dangerous, the gods would have organised its eradication or at least suppression. However, it cannot be denied that they have the potential to become a very dangerous group if they so wish.

By divine revelation by the Evernight Goddess, it has been revealed that the Fool had become a deity during the early 1200s. Our records show that the first mention of Utopia appears in 1226, where the first Church of the Fool was established.
