Work Text:
Spencer has always been known to stay up late. He drank a lot of coffee through out the day and it took awhile for the coffee to run out once he stopped drinking it. He was normally able to fall asleep at a decent time though tonight had played out differently then they both expected. Aaron had brought home a few cases he wanted to close, though he wasn't meant to bring to home cases but he was learning to be home more then anything.
The younger agent started to help out when he realized that Aaron was going to be up all night due to paper work so Spencer after making a late dinner started to help Aaron with closing cases.
They don't normal bring home work unless there was a lot to go through and it was better to get work done at the house as there wasn't any distraction. So while Aaron was already in bed, unable to keep his eyes open any longer. Spencer forced him to bed while he finished up a few more cases but he lost track of time.
To the point where Aaron had come out of the bedroom. Spencer had turned off the big light due to an onset headache so he turned on the lamps, having the dim light helped with a cup of decaf. He hoped that he could trick his head to slowly fall asleep and get him to bed but unfortunately it didn't work.
Spencer looked up when he felt that he was being watched and saw a sleepy Aaron right there. He was rubbing an eye, hair clearly bedhead, and shirt plus pajama pants winkled. The younger male chuckled at the sight.
"what are you still doing up" Aaron said in a raspy voice. Spencer made a face, he knew he wasn't in any trouble but there was still the anxiety and wiped his hands on his pants. He shouldn't need to answer as Aaron already knew the answer to that.
He shrugged "helping" he said, smiling a little.
Aaron made a face, his face wasn't tight it was relaxed which helped with how Spencer was feeling "what…what time is it?" Spencer asked.
"Almost two in the morning" Aaron said as he walked over to the couch, sliding his feet against the ground. "You should come to bed" he looked at Spencer.
"I'm almost done with these…all you have to do is sign them" Spencer said softly "and I will wake up tomorrow on time, its proven we have a internal clock. We all have a circadian rhythm which connects to an internal clock in our brain. It's of course a twenty four hour clock that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. It controls hormone release, digestion, and body temperature." Spencer went a bit on about the internal clock and how it works before there was a hand in his hair and Aaron spoke.
"Spence" he mumbled "I'm to tired to remember all that"
"You don't have to-"
"I would like to remember what you are saying to me" Aaron sighs softly "come to bed, the files will be there in the morning"
Spencer could see that Aaron was falling asleep just by standing there. He was loosely playing with Spencer hair. He made a face a little as he looked up at Aaron who had his eyes closed. Spencer thinned his lips and slowly grabbed his hand and got up.
"Okay.." he whispered.
Aaron held his hand, pulling Spencer over to the bedroom. "wait the-" he tried pulling away to turn off the lamps but that only made Aaron tighten his grip on his hand.
"Doesn't matter" Aaron said, pushing the door open to the bedroom. Spencer sighs as Aaron let go of his hand. He wanted to turn off the lamps but that stern face was staring at him so he decided that it would be fine to have the lamps on for one night.
He got undressed, putting on more appropriate clothes for bed and took out his contact before climbing next to Aaron. Aaron shifted slightly to be able to wrap an arm around Spencer waist. Spencer made a soft sigh as he relaxed maybe the decaf did due it's job at tricking him into staying awake. He shifted closer to burry his head into Aaron chest.
Spencer felt the hand on his back, gentle and lazy circles on his upper back. He took his own hand and put around Aaron, under his shirt making Aaron flitch by how cold his hand was. "You need to start wearing mittens" Aaron mumbled.
The younger one snorted a little, he was always used to being cold with the way he slept he got less then the normal amount of sleep a human needed a week, that caused him to be cold but he was working on it.
"I'm always cold, but the hands well that's just constricted blood vessels in my extremities to preserve heat to vital organs." He mumbled into Aaron chest.
Aaron relaxed has the hand on his back was warming up. "You're my human heater" Spencer said.
"well this human heaters wants to sleep"
"you like when I talk facts"
"then talk facts"
Spencer huffs and started to speak on whatever facts that came to mind that he had learned that day that had nothing to do with murders. He talked about how angelfish mate for life, how sharks are covered with tiny little teeth called dermal denticles. Spencer may had taken his time on the recent case taking place in Florida to get to know the water creatures.
He heard the other snort when Spencer mumbled his last face.
"they do what?" he mumbled.
"Breath…Moray Eels open and close their mouths because they are breathing"
Aaron hums a little and shifted. Spencer went on and on until he was mumbling the words soon went silent.

Spencer wasn't lying when he said he would wake up at the normal time he always does, he shifted a little and still felt Aaron next to him who was wide away looking at him. He rubbed his eyes before looking at him. "You know that's creepy"
Aaron shrugged a shoulder. "How?"
He had to think on that one, he just woke up and Aaron was already working in his brain. "Breach of vulnerability, sleep is when we are at our most vulnerable, defenseless could lead the other person feeling exposed and trapped. The element of surprise, waking up and suddenly seeing your partner watching you, breaking the sleep cycle can lead to a surge of adrenaline causing the flight or flight response. You would think that the many cases we have worked on where people were murder in their bed would make you not stare at me in my sleep"
"I was admiring your snore"
"I don't snore."
Aaron made a noise, uncertain one "You do" he said while leaning over and kissing Spencer head. Spencer made a face and watched at the other got out of bed, walking around to head to the bathroom. Spencer yawned and decided to stay in bed for a bit. It was the weekend, he was allowed to rot in bed for a bit.
He came out of the bathroom. He looked at Spencer who was blankly staring at him. Aaron crouched down at his side of the bed. "Breakfast and coffee isn't going to make itself."
Spencer hummed "Hm, right. Well who's making what?"
"Well you can't make eggs for the life of you" Spencer huffed "but pancakes you can make"
The younger one shifted in the bed, sitting up which caused Aaron to stand. "Jack coming over this morning?" he asked and Aaron nodded. That got Spencer up and moving.
