The Vespa landed softly on the ground as DJ got off, his feet still wobbly from being in the sky the whole trip.
The journey to Obscaria honestly felt surreal to him. He had mixed emotions about the trip but in a way enjoyed it.
taking small steps DJ stood in front of the lake, its surface shimmering in the evening glow. Footsteps followed behind as Superfish walked toward him, fixing his suit.
"So now that we got the nocturnal mushrooms I think that's it, I guess. Can I drop you off now?"
"Yeah," DJ replied quietly as Superfish stood next to him.
Superfish feeling a little bored decided to try skipping a stone again. he picked up a stone from the ground and threw it across the lake. The stone skipped across the water, instantly catching DJ's attention.
His mind processed it immediately. A few weeks ago, Superfish could barely get a stone to bounce once before it sank. DJ still remembered sitting by the shore, laughing while trying to teach him.
Superfish turned toward him with the excitement of a little kid getting ice cream.
"DJ, I did it!!" Superfish shouted excitedly, almost screaming, his hands gripping DJ's shoulders.
"Yeah, you did!" DJ replied with the same enthusiasm. Still had his eyes fixed on him
Superfish took another stone and threw it across the lake. It skipped even farther this time.
A huge smile spread across Superfish's face, his golden eyes glowing in the evening light.
DJ stared at Superfish, his eyes fixed on him. He looked really cute, he thought.
Superfish turned to face DJ.
"Whatcha looking at, human? Are you proud of my feat?" Superfish said as he grinned sarcastically although DJ preferred when his smile was more genuine.
"Yeahhh, so proudd," DJ replied, continuing the same sarcasm. "Let's get going now, shall we?"
"Sure," Superfish replied.
Superfish gestured dramatically toward the Vespa.
"Your royal ride awaits, human as DJ snorted before following him.
Both of them got on the Vespa as they rode to DJ's home, DJ's hands gripping Superfish's shoulders.
DJ closed his eyes, letting his thoughts get to him. He always had a sense of peace whenever he was with him, and with the mixed emotions he was feeling, heart thumping worried and cared for him DJ who already been ignored but was not dumb enough to know he had a crush on Superfish.
His eyebrows twitched at his own thought.
"What are you doing there?" Superfish asked, slightly scaring DJ. "Making weird faces?"
"It-it's none of your business!" DJ replied, flustered.
"Okay, whatever you say," Superfish said, shrugging his shoulders.
The ride went by silently as the soft breeze gave a calm atmosphere to the whole scene. It stayed like that until they got home.
"The prince may get down from the carriage now," Superfish said with a cocky attitude.
"You know it's technically a Vespa," DJ replied with a laid-back attitude. He had gotten way too used to his cockiness.
DJ got down from the Vespa, but before he could get his senses back, Superfish quickly spoke.
"See you at school then."
He started the Vespa when DJ suddenly said, stuttering a little, "W-wait!"
"Hmm?" Superfish questioned with a hum.
"Tomorrow is Sunday, right?"
"Yeah?" Superfish replied, now super confused.
"Do you want to go somewhere... for fun?" DJ asked, a little nervous about Superfish's reply.
"Wow, you want to spend time with me? You must really like my company," Superfish replied, slightly singing his words.
"It's a yes or no question," DJ shot back.
"Sure," Superfish replied with a smirk.
"Okay, bye!" Superfish said, starting his Vespa before driving away.
DJ opened the door only to see Arun walking around the hall. He was talking on a work call.
DJ quickly leaned back to look at Arun's car, wanting to hit himself for not noticing it earlier.
He turned around just in time to see Arun walking toward him.
"Soo, who were you with? I heard the Vespa just now."
"I told you already, he is just a friend."
"I don't know... this friend of yours seems pretty special to you, considering he takes you on rides and you spend too much time with him," Arun joked.
DJ sighed. "Why are you sooo invested in my life?"
"I can't help it, you know," Arun replied with a smile.
A few hours later, DJ wrote the last line of his homework.
"Finally done," DJ said, sliding back on his rolling chair and relaxing himself.I wonder how Superfish is going to take care of his homework, he thought knowing that he wouldn't have done it
He got ready for bed, changing into his pajamas before turning off the light. As soon as DJ closed his eyes, he immediately fell asleep from exhaustion.
Superfish POV:
Superfish's mind raced at the thought of going out with someone just for fun. He never really did things like this before, and for some reason, it made him excited.
He looked at his room as the assignment paper peeking out of his unzipped bag, waiting to be finished.
"Meh, it'll be fine," Superfish shrugged. He didn't understand any of it anyways.
Superfish feeling tired sleepily floated into his bed and snapped his fingers as the lights turned off.
He covered himself with his blanket, thinking to himself.
Always put on a silly mask in front of everyone. Being in Obscaria, he hated the cold atmosphere. He always had to stay on instinct for every sound, every moment. It was really tiring for him.
He didn't know why, but he always kept this silly attitude whenever he was around humans especially DJ and somehow, it felt real. Not like a mask.
Superfish wondered which one was his real personality and which one was the mask as he slowly dozed off midway through tired from thinking too much.
