    When Pete came to, he was certain he was having a nightmare. He was chained up, his hands raised over his head, but Pete could tell from the softly colored lights where he was.

    He was back at the safehouse.

    Jerking against the chains, Pete’s breath caught in his chest.

    “Easy,” a familiar voice chastised fondly, and Pete nearly went limp as dread filled him.

    Was it a dream? Or had his escape been the dream?

    Turning to face his captor, Pete hardened his gaze.

    “Are you going to kill me this time?”

    Vegas’s brows raised, his eyes soft as he leaned forward and opened his mouth to reply.

    Before he could, though, the door opened and Pete knew who it was without looking. As much as instinct told him not to turn his back on Vegas, Pete twisted as he said, “Khun Kim.”

    Pete could only look on in horror as Kim gave him a cheeky little wave.
