   Summary

   Amongst the void that once held stars before the Astrophage consumed the light, Eridian scientists discover a horrific anomaly: a moon covered in an ocean of blood. There a lone tree grows from its depths where they rescue a single, heavily traumatized human survivor sealed within it's bark.
   As the only other human, Ryland Grace is tasked with nursing the haunted stranger, Simon, back to health inside the biodome. But as a delicate bond forms between the two, the ghosts of Simon's past threaten to shatter this small piece of paradise they've found.

   This fic explores Simon's relationship with his faith, discovering who he is outside of the cult of Eden and free from the control of the COI. It is a study of Grace navigating the limits of his own gentle optimism when faced with cosmic trauma. Together, it focuses on the strength of found family, the vulnerability of love, and taking back your light after a lifetime of darkness.
