Chapter Text
Laura Lee arrived in Wiskayok, New Jersey holding two suitcases with her phone in one hand, looking around for her host family. She spotted them and walked over, introduced herself. “Hello, my name is Laura Lee. Are you the Matthews family?” The father nodded and shook her hand firmly. “My name is Malcom.” Laura Lee liked Malcom, though he intimidated her. He was tall, and opinionated, but respectful. The mother, Emilia, nodded shyly. Laura Lee liked her as well. She was warm, kind and inviting, though timid and quiet. And the daughter. Charlotte. Immediately, Laura Lee was intrigued by her. She seemed complex. However, this did not stop the butterflies that entered her stomach as she sat next to the girl in the family’s shiny black car. And thus began her life as an American teen
The Matthews’ house was grand and beautiful, and seemed as though you could get lost within it. A woman took Laura Lee’s bags as Lottie wordlessly showed the blonde to her room. “Here you go.” “Thank you.” Laura Lee replied, looking around. The bed was large and the room was fancy, slightly European inspired. It made her feel like a princess. “By the way, school starts in three weeks.” Lottie mentioned before she left Laura Lee to her own devices. Laura Lee flopped onto the bed and sighed.
This was going to be the greatest year of her life.
