Work Text:
The water was cold on your feet as you lowered your legs into it.
You were sat on the end of the bridge, a large lake stretching out in front of you, the setting sun making the water appear orange.
In front of you the lake stretched on, you could see small unmanned islands littered around, the trees on the other side of the lake being just about visible from where you were sat.
Every year, you and your family stayed at a shared summer house a few hours away from town, you had done this ever since you could remember. All of your best memories growing up were here, either playing at the beach or being up at the house on the veranda looking at the sunset over the lake.
Just this year was different. You had met Levi during your last year of college, meeting him at a party through your mutual friend Hange. Ever since you spoke to him for the first time you had known he was the one for you, even if he was cold at times there was something so genuine about him. after talking to him for a few weeks he asked you out on a date.
That was just over two years ago now, and the two of you had gotten serious, having moved in together a few months ago. It was a small apartment in the town center, it wasn't much but the area was nice and you got to live with the love of your life.
The town that you lived in wasn't anything big, it was closer to the countryside than any big city, and didn't have everything so you sometimes had to drive a while, but it was a nice quiet place with some of the best coffee shops at almost every corner.
Now that he was in your life, your parents suggested inviting him to come along with you guys to the summerhouse and you immediately agreed. When you had asked he happily said yes and here you were. He wasn't with you at this moment, but he was helping your dad at the grill up by the cottage.
It made your heart fill with joy, the way that your parents absolutely adored Levi, almost like their own. They always spoke well about him and he seemed to enjoy being with them as well, and the fact that he felt comfortable enough to spend time with them alone meant everything to you.
You had walked down to the beach alone, it was about a three minute walk through a small foresty area before you reached some large rocks, behind them was a small rocky beach, the bridge stretching out into the water.
In your hand was a cold beer and your favorite book, after cracking it open you took a long sip of the cold liquid and opened your book to the page you were on. The waves hitting your legs as the bridge creaked, swaying slightly each time.
The only sounds were the waves hitting the bridge, grasshoppers chirping, and rustling of leaves in the wind, it was peaceful.
You had always loved coming here as it was such a different environment than the town, you enjoyed life there but everything was so quiet here. Barely any people and practically no cars disturbing the peace. You could just exist without worrying about others.
You had read a few pages of your book, before hearing footsteps coming towards you, placing your book down beside you, you looked over to the clearing, seeing Levi walk towards you, a soft smile present on his usually cold face as he looked out at the water.
"This place is great."
He said in his usual monotone voice as he walked over, stopping in front of the bridge taking his sandals off before walking over towards you, plopping down beside you, shoulders touching, his hand instantly finding yours.
Smiling you looked at him, his usually tense jaw relaxed as he looked out over the lake.
"Reminds me of a place i would go with my mom." He began saying, sounding nostalgic. "We would go with my asshole uncle in the summer, nothing this fancy but it was nice nonetheless."
He smiled as his foot nudged yours under the water. Returning the smile, you rested your head against his shoulder.
"Sounds really nice."
You replied honestly against his shoulder, lightly breathing in his scent, a mixture of a light musky cologne and lemons.
"When my grandparents were still here, they would always come along as well. You would've really like my grandpa."
You said softly, at this point the waves had died down and the lake was still, the sun beginning to disappear behind the tree line.
He turned his head towards you and kissed the top of your forehead gently, lingering for a second before pulling back slightly.
"I bet I would have."
He murmured against your soft hair.
The two of you sat in a comfortable silence for a long while, just looking out over the lake. After a while of just sitting you heard footsteps and your dads voice.
"Dinners ready when you are"
His cheerful voice echoed quietly over the lake, he was still in his apron.
"Be there soon."
Levi turned his head towards your dad as he said it, lips slightly turned upwards.
Your dad made a quick thumbs up and began walking back towards the house.
"We should probably follow."
You said lifting your head and sitting upright, Levi on the other hand pulled you back, close to him. you turned your face towards him, looking straight into his steel blue eyes.
"A few more minutes."
He said before he leaned in you as you smiled, finding his lips, slowly and softly kissing him, lips moving gently together in sync.
After a little bit you pulled away and lifted your legs out of the cold water, but Levi beat you to it and stood up first, offering his hand. You smiled as you accepted it. When you were on your feet he instantly spun you around so your back was flush against his chest. His arms wrapped tightly around your waist.
"Thank you for bringing me, i mean it."
His lips ghosted your ear as he said it, voice soft and genuine.
You chuckled slightly, leaning into him as he kissed your neck tenderly.
"Anytime Levi, next time we can come alone, no distractions."
You said conspiratorially.
"Sounds like a plan."
He chuckled as he replied, letting go of your waist and beginning to walk back to the summer house hand in hand.
You could get used to this.
