Work Text:

When Egg first heard that he had been accepted into the campus of his dreams, he couldn't hold back the tears that flowed. Especially after he learned that his best friend, Wembu, had also been accepted into the same campus.

Well, to be honest, only Egg was accepted, considering that Wembu had been accepted since he learned that his best friend wanted to enter the campus.

knowing that Wembu's father was one of the campus leaders with high authority there. Damn nepotism.

It wasn't like Egg was complaining; Wembu had become his only friend. They go way back to when they met in the sandbox playground in their neighborhood.

At that time, some unknown children decided that Egg was an easy target because of his small and weak body. Raised as an angel, Egg didn't really know how to fight back when one of the children kicked his sandcastle.

And out of nowhere, a child with strange skin and hair suddenly came and pushed the horse hybrid child down, making him cry because of the sand that got in his eyes.

It didn't stop there, the voidling child roughly kicked the back of the child who had destroyed his castle, which made the kid yelp with pain. His white eyes stared at the little angel who was still trying to hold back his tears.

He gently reached out his hand, smiling with satisfaction as the two children who bullied the seraphim ran away in fear at the sight of his black horns.

“I’m Wembu, are you good, er…?”

“Y-yeah, uhm, Eggchan, but you can call me Egg,” Wembu nodded slightly at that.

After that day, the two of them decided to meet every day in the same sandbox, spending hours filled with laughter and jokes.

And for your information, the two children who bullied Egg yesterday had faced the wrath of the angel's older brothers. After that, he never saw them again.

Since then, the two of them became inseparable, especially after they learned they went to the same school. He had always heard the popular saying “polar opposites attract,” but Egg never believed it.

But judging by his and Wembu’s personalities, he might be.

Wambu was violent by nature, always telling stories about how he felt a sick sense of happiness when he defeated an opponent. And after obtaining a mace, one of the most fearsome weapons, he became unstoppable.

In contrast, Egg was a man who loved peace, he was a general pacifist. Perhaps that was also why his best friend's parents seemed shocked to see their son invite an angel to dinner.

Considering that demons and angels have a long history.

But his parents seemed happy that their only child finally had someone they could call a friend.

They had been through a lot together, whether it was when they were punished by holding books above their heads until class was over for laughing too hard.

Or when Wembu decided to secretly take the pet lizard that belonged to their class, and when Mr. Clown found out, he made them both run around the field, which Egg didn't even play a part in.

But no matter what, if Wembu was punished, then that automatically meant the seraphim would also suffer the same punishment. And that was visa versa, because wherever there was Wembu, there was Egg.

Entering high school, the whole school knew that if they had a problem with Egg, they would also have a problem with the terrifying purple-horned demon. And on several occasions, that had been the main case.

One day, Wembu was sick and couldn't come to school (the dragon hybrid decided to swim in a river in his shorts for two hours). This meant he was alone for a day.

It wasn't that he didn't have any other friends, it was just that having Wembu by his side felt like a breath of fresh air, It was so natural and familiar to the seraphim.

So, when he was cornered behind the school by some kids who were his best friend's enemies, Egg knew he had nowhere to run and could only stare at them with a bitter smile, accepting his fate.

He eventually went home with a wad of tissues plugging his broken nose. He could only endure the pain as he climbed the stairs to his room, remembering how one of them decided it was funny to kick him in the leg.

Not like Egg was laughing.

The angel hybrid wasn't surprised to see the familiar face of his friend playing a game on his Nintendo, eating a snack, and making a mess on Egg's mattress.

He was well aware that Wembu had climbed the tree next to Egg's room to get in through the window, which he had left open. After knowing the demon for a while, Egg knew that Wembu would get bored once he felt better.

"Yo," said the man, still busy pressing the buttons on his game.

"Hey bro, you feeling better?" As usual, Egg set his bag down on his study chair. He held back a pained whine as a sharp ache shot through his shoulder, reminding him that the pain was far from gone.

But the way he walked gave it away, and he knew because now those inverted eyes were staring at him suspiciously. Egg knew that Wembu wouldn't leave his room until he heard an explanation.

"Brother, it's nothing, I swear, I just fell," he tried when Wembu decided to tickle him.

"Come on, Egg, we've been friends for a long time, do you think I don't know how you lie?" he said with a smile when his best friend couldn't stop laughing as he tickled his stomach.

That was until Egg cried out in pain when Wembu accidentally pressed his ankle.

The seraphim could only glance at his friend out of the corner of his eye and felt his face turn pale as the voidling gave him a dark look he knew all too well, the same look he'd given when their classmate accidentally spilled water on Wembu's homework.

Egg knew he had no choice but to be honest with him.

He couldn't come the next day, considering the injury he'd sustained had him lying in his room all day. He was actually very happy to be able to skip a day off, because it meant he could spend his time reading books.

And while reading, the sky began to change color. Egg knew that soon his best friend would come in through the window to spend their remaining time together.

The next day, when he returned to school, Egg had no idea what Wembu had done the day before. He could feel countless gazes directed at him and the demon beside him, who was pretending to be dumb.

But Egg supposed it wasn't necessarily a bad thing, because until they graduated, no one had ever dared to look at him for more than five minutes.

Back to college, he and Wembu ended up as roommates. The first thing he noticed was how they both had a double-sized bed. He glanced suspiciously at his best friend who pretended to be busy with his clothes.

He knew that the voidling, who was still busy arranging his clothes in his new closet, had something to do with this. Egg even knew that they became roommates because of the purple-haired man's meddling.

Although he had no proof, his gut feeling told him otherwise.

And after accompanying Wembu to stop by to pick up his things he'd left at his house, he learned that the demon had thrown big tantrum when the demon learned that he and Egg wouldn't be sharing a room, and was forcing his father to do something about it.

At least that's what his best friend's mother said.

Egg didn't know how to respond to this information. He was happy to know that Wembu enjoyed his company, but also worried that his friend would end up with no friends other than himself.

In the past, he wouldn't have been so worried, considering they were just two stupid teenagers who liked to fish by the river (well, actually, just Egg, but Wembu never turned down the angel's invitation).

Wembu's parents seemed to think so too, having seen their son play with the same seraphim for fourteen long years.

Wembu had no other siblings; he was the only child of a wealthy couple who loved their son dearly, unlike Egg, who had ten siblings in total.

This explained why Wembu always seemed happy whenever his seraphim friend stayed over.

And that also meant Egg was forced to go on vacation to the hybrid demon family's private island.

"Egg, please? You know I'm going to be bored out of my mind there."

"Dude, it's called a family vacation for a reason,"

"Aww, come on, at this point, you're also my parents' second child because you always sleep in my room on the weekends."

"Okay, first of all, I'm sure at this point your parents are sick of my handsome face, and second, Wembu, you're the one who begged me to help you finish Call of Duty on your PS5." Egg usually doesn't talk much, which is why he's always called the quiet kid.

But this time, he had to convince his best friend that he could survive without Egg by his side.

Which ultimately failed miserably because in the end, he sat under a giant umbrella, staring at Wembu who was swimming in the shallow part of the beach under the sun.

And with a stack of books beside him, of course.

And it's not like his purple friend's mom and dad hated Egg, oh no, quite the opposite actually.

After learning that Egg was a seraphim, Wembu's parents deliberately removed anything from their home that could disturb Egg, such as certain objects associated with black magic.

His best friend's mother also made sure to packed lunch for the angel as well, knowing Egg's parents rarely have enough time to prepare one for their youngest child.

There was also the time Wembu's father quietly placed a Christmas present under the decorated tree for him after learning that Egg had never received one before.

So he wasn't too surprised to learn that Wembu was willing to lock himself in his room, doing nothing but sulking, so his father would agree to let them share a room.

So their routine now was, Wembu sleeping while crushing the poor angel hybrid with his weight, which eventually woke Egg up.

Gosh, even though he knew Wembu would eventually spend all his time in the angel's room, that didn't mean the demon had to take up all the space on his bed.

Then they continued to go to class and study. Actually, class was the only time they weren't together, considering they both chose different majors.

Eggchan decided to take Marine Biology because he loved studying how marine life worked, and it was a plus if he could fish too.

Meanwhile, Wembu chose a major that suited him best. And that is…

PvP, of course, knowing how unstable worked, Egg wasn't surprised when his best friend called him to discuss a major that allowed his students to fight in any way, and with anything.

Because truly, Wembu would go crazy if he found out he couldn't use his two dearest children: Gambit and Crucible.

And the angel breathed a sigh of relief when he learned that Wembu had made friends along the way. Egg didn't know them all that well at first, especially with his habit of locking himself in his shared dorm room with Wembu, studying all the time.

But after a bit of persuasion and a little bribery (Wembu had promised him a book he'd always wanted) Egg finally started joining his friends at the parties the demon attended.

And Wembu had one absolute rule: if he was invited, Egg had to be invited too.

Entering his third year of college, the seraphim began to remember and socialize with the demon friends, and honestly, Egg didn't know how to describe them.

The first one he met was Parrot. Actually, Parrot was a nice guy to be around with, because, like Egg the avian hybrid also loved studying. That's why he could sit comfortably while talking to him.

Although Wembu strongly disagreed because he thought Parrot was a very boring guy who talked too much, Wembu, nevertheless remained friends with him just because.

Theo, the man who was always with Parrot, was a complete opposite of him. Theo was the type of person who always shine under the disco floor. It wasn't surprising that Wembu loved to bicker with him; even the angel admitted that the avian's reactions were hilarious.

That's why Egg was so surprised to learn that Theo was a music student who excelled at playing the violin. Egg once came to one of his performances because Parrot insisted that he had to see the half-bird roommate's play at least once in his life.

This resulted in Egg having to wake Wembu up, who had fallen asleep five minutes after the show started. He already knew the half dragon's habit of being bored.

He remembered the purple-haired man saying, "I'd rather die with passion than boredom," which made Egg shake his head.

Although Theo's first interaction with him was very... weird?

The first time they met was when Wembu, Egg, and the two avians he had just met decided to study together in the library. At first, everything went as usual.

And usual meant Wembu playing games on his laptop, and Theo bothering parrot. But after a few minutes without any reaction from his avian friend, Theo decided to stare at the half seraphim.

Egg never liked other people staring at him. Having three eyes had made him bullied throughout elementary school. That's why he decided to cover his face with his snowy-white hair and two small wings that acted like a curtain for his face.

He was focused on writing his essay, unaware of the hand slowly approaching his face. But before the curious hand could touch even a single feather, the voidling next to him was quicker.

He harshly slapped the avian's hand, making him wince in pain as he pulled his hand back. "What are you doing?"

"Chill, bro. I just want to feel Egg's feathers. What's behind those small wings anyway?"

"Uhm, that's nonya."

"Wha-"

"Non-nya business bitch." And with that, Wembu had already charged and thrown Theo to the floor. The two of them rolled around, throwing punches and kicks.

"Guys, oh my god, I swear on my mama bro, stop it, you two!" Parrot, who had been watching the two interact, immediately stood up from his chair, trying to break them up.

Meanwhile, Egg could only shake his head at his friend's antics. He knew Wembu never played around when it came to the seraphim.

But this was absolutely ridiculous.

Egg could stand up for himself, but apparently Wembu didn't like that idea. as Theo was now hitting the floor, his neck pressed by the man's long legs, who was laughing like a psychopath.

"Fuck—Wembu, I knew you were annoying, but not like a—psychopath—!" The poor avian was trying to escape the demonic hybrid's death grip. Meanwhile, Parrot, who had intended to help, decided to sit back down.

"Yeah? Try anything funny to Egg again and see what I'll do."

While the two were still arguing, Parrot decided to avert his gaze. He shot Egg a guilty look.

"Sorry, bro, Theo really went too far. I hope you can forgive him, though," Egg smiled calmly.

"It's nothing, Wembu is just overreacting," which was answered by a shout from beside them, "I'm not!"

And since then, the blond avian never tried to touch him again, remembering the white-eyed gaze that always stared at him with a murderous aura every time he tried to even reach the seraphim.

Then the second person he knew who was friends with Wembu was also a voidling named Spoke.

Egg didn't really know the man because Wembu always said that knowing Spoke was like knowing chaos himself.

Because somehow, every step the man took always ended in destruction and pure chaotic. And what confused him even more was the man named Mapicc who was always with him. Like, had he ever lived peacefully with that voidling by his side?

Even though Wembu and Spoke were both voidlings, Egg somehow felt that they were very different.

He once asked Wembu how he met Spoke, but his friend just shrugged and said he knew him from Prince Zam.

Ugh, and how much Egg hates Zam.

Hearing the name of the siren, Egg immediately shut his mouth. Because even hearing her name made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up in anger.

The seraphim didn't have much to write in his journal about his interactions with the odd man. Because, as he said, Wembu never let him get too close to the man.

Well, moving on, the next person on the list is Flamefrags.

The angel knew that Wembu met the netherling because they were in the same major. And both of them loved to fight, which was the main reason they even knew eachother.

Every semester, the two of them would fight for the number one rank in PvP on their campus. Well, Egg was unfazed by it, knowing Wembu and all.

What impressed him was the fact that he never saw Flame with anyone. He heard from Wembu that the tiger had a very annoying roommate. The seraphim didn't really remember his name, maybe Spongs?

But oh well.

Wembu always told stories about how his PvP rival would always say, "Well, I'm not like most people, I don't need friends," when he saw the demon's best friend sitting nearby, waiting for him.

"I swear, bro, he's like—, nevermind." Egg chuckled softly as Wembu threw up his hands in despair, giving up after realizing he didn't have enough words to describe the immortal demon.

And honestly, Egg thought so too. That Flame was truly an independent man who didn't need friends or anyone else in his life. Kind of cool, actually.

Until he saw with his own eyes the nether demon chuckling with a rabbit hybrid he didn't know.

At that time, Egg was carrying a stack of books to study for the approaching exams, of course, with Wembu, even though all the voidling had been doing was talking non-stop about the game he just bought. The seraphim could only roll his eyes.

As he turned from the bookshelf, his celestial eye caught a familiar figure. He immediately pulled Wembu, who was still talking, to quiet him down.

"Shhh, dawg," he said, peeking from behind the shelf.

"Wha—why are you telling me to shut up—?" Seeing his friend's attention, Wembu decided to follow the gaze of the angel beside him.

"Oh," he said curtly.

"I thought you said the immortal demon doesn't have friends?"

"Yeah, Flame doesn't have one." His white eyes scanned the mysterious man next to his rival, trying to remember who the hybrid was.

“Oh, that’s Lomedy, bro.” Both of them were startled by a calm voice that made them jump.

“Parrot, bro, stop doing that,” the seraphim rubbed his aching chest, making the avian chuckle softly.

“Who’s Lomedy?” this time it was the demon next to him who asked, still hiding behind the tall wooden shelves of the library.

“Oh, I don’t know him very well, but I remember him as a biochemistry student. He’s really good at farming too, bro.” He shrugged, making the two in front of him open their mouths in a silent 'ohh'.

“What are you guys doing?" And for the second time, Egg felt his heart nearly jump out of his chest when Flame's large body was suddenly behind him, staring at them through his blindfold.

He forgot how the three of them had survived the chase of the angry demon-tiger hybrid. after escaping the library Wembu grabbed his hand to keep on running.

They stopped after closing their dorm door, blocking the wooden door with their combined weight. Both of them were panting, forgetting about a certain hybrid who was surely already in the immortal demon's clutches.

"Holy dude,"

"Yeah... shoot, I think I left my books behind when I ran." Egg slumped to the floor, followed by his best friend. The two stared at each other for a moment before bursting into a fit of laughter.

"Bro, I'm pretty sure Parrot is dead, bro." Wembu shook his head, imagining how Parrot would try to find an excuse to escape from Flame.

The angel beside him could only nod, still chuckling softly.

After that incident, Egg began seeing Lomedy more often, whether it was at the annual campus festival where the man in the yellow cardigan was selling cakes. For the half-celestial being the rabbit's cupcakes were simply heaven.

Even Wembu, who wasn't particularly fond of sweets, couldn't lie. He even fought with Flame to buy the last strawberry cookie, which the rabbit ultimately gave to Egg for free.

Flame wasn't exactly happy about that, but remembering the horned demon hybrid next to him, he opted to buy another one of Lomedy's cake.

Egg didn't actually think he and Lomedy would get along quite well. But the seraphim could remember several times he spent talking with the golden-eyed man while waiting for Wembu to finish his training.

From the farmer, Egg learned that he met Flame when they both participated in a pet talent show competition. Although the netherling initially didn't consider him a friend, Flame eventually acknowledged Lomedy as his best friend.

The angel always noticed how Flame listened intently to Lomedy's stories, unlike when he was with Wembu or Parrot. Even though his face remained expressionless, Egg could see the man's sincerity in his attention to the brunette.

Several times, he and Wembu were invited to taste the cakes Lomedy made. And whoa, the seraphim was always amazed every time he tasted the man's cooking. Thus, visiting the farmer's house became a routine, especially when Lomedy was trying out a new recipe.

And usually, the brunette would invite his other friends, some the angel knew and some he didn't know very well.

So, every time the rabbit invited them, Egg would happily eat the tart served on the table while he watched Wembu, Theo, and Flame fight over the last cheesecake on the table, which more often than not ended up being eaten by Spoke.

Lomedy would shake his head before going back to stirring his tea while listening to Parrot yapp. Sometimes, Mapic would comment on some of the avian's crazy stories, which was actually kind of ironic because Egg knew the man had done even crazier things.

When Wembu found out that he kept a journal about their lives together and the friends they had, he enthusiastically asked permission to read it.

And Egg knew that even if he said no, the purple-skinned demon would read it anyway. Not like Egg minded. He didn't really care, and besides, it was too late to ask his best friend for privacy.

"Actually, Parrot used to have another close friend," Egg, who was typing on his laptop immediately stopped, turning his full attention to Wembu, who was resting his head on the angel's pillow.

"What do you mean?" The other asked, confused.

"Well, you don't remember, because you were so focused on your studies in the first and second year." Egg remembered how he turned down all of Wembu's invitations to play because the Seraphim was frustrated with his grades.

It's not like he doesn't care about his grades anymore, it's just that he's learned to take things slowly and is trying to ignore his stress over studying and start socializing. Having only Wembu as a friend isn't exactly a good thing.

"His name is Wifies. I don't know exactly what happened between them, but Theo once told me that the two had a big fight, and a few weeks later, Wifies decided to move." Hearing his friend's explanation, Egg could only nod.

He wondered what they were arguing about that made Wifies decide to move away. It must have been something serious.

But enough with Wembu's friends, Egg, even though he doesn't have as many friends as his demon friend, the Seraphim is proud that he can name at least a few people he can consider his friends.

One of them was Jaden. They became friends because they were both in the same major. Egg had never known anyone as obsessed with pirates as the Siren.

Initially, when the dragon hybrid found out Egg had a friend other than himself, Wembu didn't take it well. He threw a tantrum about how his angel friend would leave him for the siren. But after promising and assuring the demon that Egg would never leave him, Wembu began to accept Jaden.

Wembu and Jaden even laughed out loud about burger several times. Even though he didn't understand their jokes, Egg was still happy that his friend accepted Jaden. Because by God if Wembu had said he didn't like the Siren, Egg wouldn't have thought twice about leaving jaden.

It's no secret that the Seraphim loves reading and studying philosophy. If it weren't for his parents, Egg would have definitely chosen that major. That's why he was so happy to meet Rejoice at a party hosted by Spoke.

At that time, Egg was relaxing on the couch with a glass of water. He wasn't the type to get too drunk at parties, considering that was the job of the purple-haired demon.

He boredly shook his glass, watching the water move with his hand. God, he was so bored. He saw Wembu, drunk out of his mind, singing "California Girls" with Boosfer and Theo and it was starting to get old.

Glancing to the side, he saw Parrot asleep on a chair not far from him, while Lomedy and Flame were busy chatting about something that made the rabbit laugh out loud. probably talking shit about willy or spongs.

"I've never seen you before. You're Wembu's friend, right?" He turned when he heard a voice from beside him.

He raised an invisible eyebrow in confusion; he had never met this man in his life at all.

"Oh, sorry, I'm Rejoicin. You can call me Rejoice."

"Uhm, hi..." Egg nodded stiffly, the corner of his eye catching Wembu who was still busy snatching a beer bottle from Mapicc's hand.

Okay, well, it seemed like this was one of those moments. A time when he had to socialize without Wembu by his side.

The two of them remained silent for a few seconds, before Egg finally decided to try to strike up a conversation.

Well, here goes nothing.

“So uh, Rejoice. What's your major? I've never seen you before,” he tried to smile, somehow feeling like the t-shirt he was wearing was suddenly too big.

Gosh, Egg feels so pathetic.

“I'm majoring in philosophy!” Rejoice's answer immediately made Egg sit up straight, his smile widening.

In the end, they spent the whole night talking about Aristotle, Plato, and several famous authors like Dazai Osamu or William Shakespeare.

Both chuckled as Wembu walked towards Egg, calling his name loudly, clearly drunk. Seeing this, the seraphim could only roll his eyes as he stood up, accepting his friend's embrace, who was smiling like an idiot.

“Well, it's nice meeting you, bro, but I gotta go now. This dumbass will end up in the ditch if I don't go with him.”

“Wait! Here, a little gift for you,” Rejoice immediately pulled Egg's palm to hand him a small pin, his bright blue eyes noticing a picture of a sunflower.

"Whoa, that's pretty cool man, thanks!" And with that, the two of them parted ways.

The next morning, Wembu woke up with a headache he called 'worse-than-having-to-hear -Parrot-yapp.' And Egg knew how Parrot was when it came to stories. After making sure his friend had taken the painkiller, the angel decided to put the pin he'd got last night in his bag.

Seeing this, Wembu immediately raised his eyebrows, making a face that Egg knew was demanding an explanation.

"Oh, while you were busy running after Mapicc and Ferre, I met this really nice and cool guy named Rejoice." Hearing his friend's story about his antics last night made Wembu grimace.

"Apparently, he's majoring in philosophy, and we spent some time chatting about it," seeing Egg smile happily made the voidling smile a little too.

"You should introduce me to him, blud,"

"Nah, he's too cool for you." The seraphim immediately laughed as Wembu threw the pillow he was using at him.

"Wait, I'm sorry- I'm sorry,"

"Too late, bro." and the two ended up rolling on the floor of Egg's room, laughing heartily.

The only other person he could call a friend was Minute. He was a rare pure voidling and the only one that the seraphim knew because almost all the people who lived in this city were hybrids. So accidentally bumping into him while running away from Lettuce nearly knocked the angel unconscious.

At that time, he and Wembu were running from the Student Government President, who was crazy about enforcing the law and... because Wembu accidentally set fire to one of the trees behind campus.

Until now... He still didn't understand why and how did the demon even managed to do that.

Because he was too focused on running, Egg didn't pay attention to his surroundings and just as he turned the corner in the hallway, he accidentally bumped into someone coming from the opposite direction.

"Shit—" he said as his head hit something hard, causing him to fall. He immediately looked up.

And holy shit,

This dude is tall as heck.

"Egg, what are you doing, run—!" Wembu, who was not far behind, immediately stopped to help his angel friend up, before finally noticing the man still standing silently, staring at them.

Oh.

"Oh,"

"Wembu, I swear to God, come here—" Upon seeing the taller voidling, Lettuce immediately froze before smiling stiffly. "Professor minute,"

And Egg could feel all the color drain from his face, even though he was already very pale. He was sure he looked like he had seen a ghost because even the man he had just bumped into was staring at him for a long time.

"Yeah, hi Lettuce, do you mind for a bit? These two have to come with me."

Hearing that, the seraphim felt as if his world had stopped, all sound seemed to disappear, and all he could think about was how he should write an apology letter to his parents and his ten siblings.

'I'm cooked,' were the words he repeated as he hold Wembu's hand, still following the professor in front of them.

"Bro, I'm going to be honest with you. I think we're cooked." He could faintly hear Wembu whispering to him, though he was sure Minute must have heard.

"What do you mean, you think?! Of course we're cooked, bro. I don't think I can survive in jail..." he said, pinching the arm that was still faithfully pulling him. Making the demon yelp.

The two then entered the room, which Egg guessed was the professor's. Both sat with their heads down, but not Wembu never wembu, the man didn't even feel guilty. Meanwhile, the voidling stared out the window before finally exhaling.

"He's gone now. You guys can go."

Hearing that, both of them immediately stared at Minute as if he had grown two heads. "Oh, wait, really? Sweet," without waiting any longer, Wembu immediately stood up from his chair.

"Wait, you'll let us go?" Egg stared at Minute in confusion.

"Yeah,"

"Wha-? Why?" He ignored his demon friend, who decided to take the candy from the jar on the professor's desk.

"Hmm, you guys remind me of my son," the voidling replied camly while smiling slightly.

In the end, Wembu had to pull the seraphim out and not to question the older man again. "Dawg, we're lucky, just accept that."

"Dude, I swear that man is scary as fuck, bro," to which his friend only responded with a snicker.

Since then, the two of them often met and talked with the professor whenever they happened to meet. Several times, Wembu and he even played pranks on the poor voidling, which ended with Deputy Ace shaking his head at the two of them being lectured by Lettuce.

Honestly, the seraphim was sure he'd met more people, but his poor memory limited the names and stories he could write in his journal.

Maybe at graduation, he could ask the people he'd written about to sign his book. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.

Egg couldn't say his college life was perfect.

Even students as diligent and ambitious as him could cry all night because they were too tired to keep reading. At times like that, Wembu would definitely try to make him feel better.

He'd take him out, walking with just the two of them while talking shit about Saparata, Yungy, or anyone else they could remember. Even though the demon was the one doing most of the talking, it didn't mean Egg hated it.

Sometimes he and Wembu would fight, over small things like Egg's socks getting lost after the dragon hybrid borrowed them, or Wembu's white shirt turning pink because the Seraphim forgot to separate their clothes.

They will have the silent-treatment kind of fight, making their friend group sigh. But in the end, they would both apologize and walk side by side to the nearest fast food place as if nothing had happened.

And maybe life wasn't that bad.

Sure, his parents were always busy and didn't have much time for him, but they still made time to call him atleast once a week. And Egg knew that he could count on his ten other siblings if something happen.

Or that he didn't have many friends. For him, it didn't matter as long as Wembu was always by his side. Because he knew that the purple demon, even if people called him arrogant, criminal, or whatever.

Wembu would never hurt him.

God knows what Wembu was willing to do for the seraphim.

Even if he was having trouble studying and felt like crying, Egg knew that no matter what, he could always be able to ask Parrot for advice.

Even though he and Theo weren't particularly close, Egg always laughed whenever he heard the hybrid make a joke. He didn't mind attending one of Theo's violin show.

He and Spoke or Mapic might not be close, but that doesn't mean they were enemies. Several times, Spoke helped him escape Flame's anger because he dared to take Lomedy's last piece of cake, with Mapic distracting the Netherling's so they could escape.

He and Flame weren't best friends or anything; Egg only knew him through Wembu. But Flame had accompanied him several times when Wembu wasn't by his side.

When he was alone eating in the cafeteria because his best friend was sick and was probably sleeping in their dorm, Flame would then approached him with Lomedy, quietly listening to the seraphim and rabbit talk.

And bless Lomedy, that man is the word 'sweetheart' itself. He brought them countless homemade cakes, never asking for a penny for them. Well, Egg now understood why Flame was so worried about the farmer, he was too kind for his own good.

Maybe that's why Egg never felt alone. On slow days, he'd do his homework in bed with his best friend lying at his leg, complaining about professor manepear.

The Seraphim always thanked God for the moments he'd sit listening to Parrot story about how he figured out the insidiousness of Ashwag, or Mapic demonstrating something stupid Spoke did yesterday.

He'd chuckle as he continued typing his assignment, which was due tomorrow. Egg would nod his head as Lomedy helped him with chemistry.

It was a familiar routine where they all studied in the library, though only a few actually studied, and it always ended with Flame and Wembu fighting.

Or Spoke and Theo playing games on their laptops using mods that made them rich. Mapic would usually join them when he was fed up with studying.

Occasionally, Jaden would join them, which would lead to the Siren and Flame arguing about their personal issues involving Lomedy.

Which, in turn, would end in a fight that dragged the dragon hybrid in.

For some reason, every time there was a fight, his purple friend was always at the forefront.

“Bro, are you still writing?”

Egg immediately snapped out of his reverie, smiling slightly at Wembu, who was waiting for him. Today, he was volunteering at their campus library.

He immediately got up from his chair, stuffed his journal into his bag, and followed the hybrid demon out. Their walk home was filled with arguments.

“Come on, bro, let me use gambit at least once,”

“Nah, you can like—use crucible, but never gambit.”

“Damn. Well, beggars can't be choosers, I guess… wait, does that mean I can use crucible?”

The demon glanced at him briefly, before making a thinking motion.

“Sure, dude, why not.”

“Dude, with great power comes great responsibility,” he said in that nonchalant tone Wembu knew so well.

“D'alright, bro, whatever,” they both laughed until their stomachs hurt.

maybe egg will write this moment in his journal too, just in case.
