of secrets and stabbing

Summary:

When Ochako slips into the abandoned building on the outskirts of Musutafu, she's greeted by a needle-shaped knife slamming into the wood beside her.

A giggle echoes from further within.

"One day you're going to actually hit me, you know," Ochako says. Himiko's only response—naturally—is to throw another knife. This time, Ochako reaches out to graze the hilt with the tip of one finger and float it to a lazy stop.

Or, Ochako sneaks out to see her girlfriend.

Work Text:

When Ochako slips into the abandoned building on the outskirts of Musutafu, she's greeted by a needle-shaped knife slamming into the wood beside her.

A giggle echoes from further within.

"One day you're going to actually hit me, you know," Ochako says. Himiko's only response—naturally—is to throw another knife. This time, Ochako reaches out to graze the hilt with the tip of one finger and float it to a lazy stop.

"That just means I'll get to enjoy your blood even sooner," Himiko says with a pout.

Ochako holds back a shiver. Himiko doesn't want to kill her, she knows. After all, if she were dead, there would be a finite supply of her blood. She doesn't think Himiko even wants to seriously hurt her, because if she did, it would be so, so easy for her. Ochako gives her every opportunity, really.

Still. It's exciting, in a way. Invigorating. Ochako knows she shouldn't be here, but Himiko—

Himiko makes her want to do all kinds of dangerous things.

Himiko peeks out around a doorframe that leads to a long hallway, then skips out to greet her. The smile on her face is bright, and Ochako feels her own heartbeat pick up.

She wonders if Himiko can hear it.

Casting a surreptitious glance over her shoulder—she's sure she wasn't followed—Ochako startles a little when Himiko takes her hand and tugs her further inside.

"Don't worry, Ochako," Himiko says, her voice a lilting sing-song. "If anyone followed you, I'll take care of them for you."

Ochako sighs. "I don't want you to take care of them," she says for the hundredth time. In fact, in part this had all started because Ochako wanted to protect her friends. She still does. "I'm—I'm sure my friends would understand." She feels a twinge of uncertainty. "Would the League of Villains understand?"

Himiko shrugs. "I'm allowed to do whatever I want," she says smugly, curling her fingers around Ochako's, though Ochako has a feeling that secretly dating the enemy might be pushing even the League of Villain's love of anarchy a little far.

"I can't stay very long today," Ochako says regretfully. It's late Saturday afternoon, so at least she doesn't have classes to worry about tomorrow, but her classmates will expect her back for dinner tonight.

Himiko sighs. "No fun," she says, but she's still quick enough to pull Ochako over to the small couch tucked away in one corner of the dim room. Ochako can't help but laugh as they tumble onto it. In her opinion, everything with Himiko is fun. She knows it shouldn't feel that way, but the little cat and mouse games, the way Himiko always surprises her, the little butterflies that go off in her stomach whenever Himiko grins at her—

It makes her heart do summersaults, like it could float away any second. Ochako wishes they didn't have to hide this. She wishes she was sure her friends really would understand, and not think that she was betraying them. She wished she didn't have to scramble to hide it every time her mind drifted off in public to thoughts of Himiko's adorable smile.

It doesn't take long for Himiko to settle comfortably in her lap. They're still holding hands, somehow, and lifts them to peer at the tracery of veins in Ochako's wrist and hand.

"Can I?" Himiko asks, trailing her fingers up the veins of Ochako's arm, bared by her tank top. She stops at Ochako's elbow, and Ochako nods, feeling a little bit like her heart is in her throat. Himiko giggles in response before pressing her mouth to Ochako's wrist in a kiss.

When her sharp teeth graze the thin skin inside Ochako's elbow, Ochako sucks in a breath. It doesn't hurt, not really. Himiko is always so gentle about this. If nothing else, she doesn't want to leave a wound that will take too long to heal and spill their secret.

Maybe one day, Ochako thinks. She doesn't think she'd mind it much, if Himiko left her evidence on her skin.

Himiko licks her lips when she's done, then presses her mouth one more time to the vulnerable skin. Ochako wraps arms around her waist in response, pressing the sting of her arm against Himiko's side.

It seems to throb in time with Himiko's contented sigh.

"Will you come back to see me again tomorrow?" Himiko asks, snuggling into her. "For longer?"

Ochako blushes and nods. "I can come after lunch," she says, and Himiko beams at her.

"Then I'll come to see you too," she says. "I can't resist spending more time with Ochako-chan."
