Chapter Text
I had everything i ever dreamed of
Wealth and Power
The palace was my own place to do whatever I pleased, my own playground of imagination. I threw parties for my fellow noble friends, and others who tagged along with them. I would order my servants to decorate the palace in all gold, and make sure it looked real. I wanted my guests to walk in and see my wealth, be able to look back on their own wealth in comparison, and grovel at my feet like the insects they were. I would point and laugh at their dismay, and wallow in their discomfort. My parties has never been out done, not in the slightest, and i was proud of my achievement.
This one night, I looked up at the night sky and saw the twinkling stars above me. The entrance shown so brightly I could barely see them, I had squinted to even see their glimmer. I walked toward the bright light and saw inside my glamorous display. Two huge stone pillars stood at both my sides, topped with gargoyle statues snarling and clawing at the air. The front entrance was engraved in silver flower like engravings, and oak wood as the base. The doors were wide open to give a "everyone is welcome" sorta feel for the commoners, but of course they could never be allowed inside. As I made my way inside, I could see the front entrance expand into view. The red carpet under my feet stretched onto a set of stairs, going up in the middle and then splitting in both left and right directions. I feel the short carpet under my boots, and I walked past the stairs onto my right where the one of two doors to the ballroom sat. I walk into the ballroom, greeted by two of my guards, bowing mechanically falling and rising as I pass. The ballroom seemed to stretch for miles in all directions, decorated with white waxed candles cascaded across the walls, seated in gold holders. Gold chandeliers hanged down from the ceiling, and gold paper streamers zigzagged in between them. As i walked in the room, my presence was sensed by all and they briefly glanced in my direction before going back to chatting with their companions. The guests in the middle had formed into sort of groups, and chatted among themselves. Some guests sat at the various tables scattered on the sides of the dance floor. I looked over at my musicians, a pianist, a cellist, a violinist, and violist, and they glanced my way. I nodded for them to begin playing, and so they did. A joyful classical piece began to play, and so some of the guests stopped their chatting and partnered up with whoever was closest to them. I walked over to the side by the musicians, and squinted my eyes with disgust. Why have they just been sitting there twiddling their thumbs? I brush past them and make my way to my seat, at the head of the room to overlook my ballroom. I adjust my tie and flip my coat tails up and I sit down and cross my legs in front of me, resting my elbow on my knee and my hand upon my cheek lightly. My attendant leans over and whispers in my ear,
"Sir, this is a great turn out tonight." he mischievously smiles as I look up at him in shock.
"Don't whisper in my ear, you know how sensitive they are!" I protest, he backs away from me and regains his position behind my chair. I scowl for a second and then let the moment pass.
"Sir, Your father requested you after the party, he informed me before you entered." My attendant tapes my shoulder and then speaks into my ear.
"My father? Why?"
"Your marriage plans." I scoff at the thought, why would I get married now? I was barely an adult, I can not even fathom the thought. I wave my hand at him and he steps back as I close my eyes to soak my ears in the music. I look out over the dance floor, and enjoy the calmness of the classical piece that is now being played. the piano chimes and slides in, serenading my ears with wispy notes. The violin rings true in the room, the vibrato vibrating my ear drums. The viola lays below practically unnoticed, but can be heard complimenting the violins piercing sound. And last, the cello, sings in a low bassy tone, calming my heart as it beats to the fast repetitive notes. I wish this would never change, my life is perfect the way it is, I thought as I exhaled with satisfaction. But just as my peace has reached its climax, I felt a strong breeze had blown through the room, and stood up to my feet in a panic. The room has been cascaded in darkness, all the candles has blown out and only the light from the now open door shined through. I looked over to the light and saw a brief silhouette of a short statured person. I walked aggressively toward the stranger, and stood up straight in front of them, my fists drilling into both my sides.
"Who are you to ruin my night?!" I shouted at them in fury. This person finally came into view after my eyes had finally adjusted to the bright light from the hallway. It was a hunchbacked elderly woman, wearing a stitched together dress with long puffy sleeves. It was supposed to be a baby blue color, but the mud and dirt stains had seeped in too deep to even tell the color anymore. She wore a brown colored cloak with a hood over her head, and walked barefoot. Her face was wrinkled and worn, covered in warts and bits of mud. I caught only a whiff of her smell, and I covered my mouth to prevent myself from gagging. She smelled of farm pigs who has rolled around in the mud too long, and rotting animal corpses. I stepped back after catching her scent, and stuck my hand in front of her to prevent her touch.
"Get away from me!" I screamed, caught off guard by the smell. I looked back briefly to prevent myself from tripping, and everyone had practically migrated to the other half of the room, stepping carefully away from the woman and sticking their arms in front of their faces to prevent the smell from entering their lungs.
"Please Your Highness….spare me a room in your castle….I am poor and without family." She stuttered her words, and spoke in a low gravely tone. She reached into her cloak and pulled out a single object and offered it to me, a purple rose.
"Please take this rose….its my only possession." She continued to step toward me and I continued to back away. The rose shown against the light, and she clenched it tightly. Her hand began to bleed onto the floor, the thorns dug into her skin and she didn't show any signs of pain.
"Get out of my palace you old wench! I do not want a dusty old rose, nor your awful stench anywhere near me!" I yelled and scowled at her. "Guards! Take this old hag away from here!" I ordered and pointed toward the old woman. The guards immediately took action and grabbed her by the arms and tried to holster her up. I backed away even farther and released my hand from my face when I could barely smell her. I turned around to go back to my throne and enjoy the rest of my peaceful night, when i heard her whisper something.
"You will not take in a poor old woman on her death bed?" She sounded course in her speech, and had a completely different tone from earlier. My eyes opened wide for a second, and then I turned around and began in an angry tone,
"You think I would take in someone like you? An ugly old wench who smells of death?!" I huffed out air and began to walk back toward her. "Guards! What are you doing take her and throw her to the wolves!" I shouted and my voice echoes throughout the whole ballroom. My guards looked back to me and nodded their heads in affirmant. They continued to try and push the woman out of the room but she refused to move, they tugged and pulled and she was as still as a statue.
"This rose will be your undoing." I heard her say coarsely, and my eyebrows lifted in surprise. She closed her eyes slowly, and her form began to warp and change into a being of light. My heart began to beat out of chest, and sweat built up on my brow. I began to walk slowly backward but stumbled over my feet and landed hard onto the wooden floor. I was stunned at the being she had become, an enchantress of light, clad in a gold colored dress and crown. her cloak stretched out her silhouette and shone out her light as well. She floated above the ground and her light was so bright I could barely open my eyes. I could feel my fur tingle at the heat of the light rays.
"You must show love and kindness to all, and not judge by appearances, for this fault you must be punished!" She opened her arms out and a flood of purple roses stampeded out of her cloak, covering me and blurring my vision completely. I opened my eyes slowly and once again laid my eyes upon the enchantress. She closed her cloak and lowered herself to the ground. I quickly look down toward my body, I had scratches from the thorns and rips in my clothes, but other than that was perfectly fine. A rush of relief washed over me, but I soon began to feel a tingling feeling in my body. The tingling faded and soon pain set in, I felt my bones begin to crack breaking continuously, and my skin warped like a stone hitting a still lake. I screamed in agony and my voice echoed back to my ears, looping over and over. my body began to grow in size and my eyes bulged out of the sockets. The enchantress was weirdly silent during this, and simply look upon me with contempt. I felt the pain begin to subside, and the tingling comforted me in a weird way. I looked at my hands once again, and once delicate hands had now grown claws, and my purple fur had darkened into a color of murky water. I could feel my chest bulged and my legs flex as I stood to my feet.
"What….have you done?" My face contorted into an expression I've never had upon my face, absolute fear, and tears began to fall.
"You will remain like this until you earn the love of someone, and love them in return, you may never leave this place, and your servants will share your fate." She waved her hand and I began to faintly hear the screams of pain I experienced not long ago. "All those who knew you will forget of your existence, and you will only have your servants to keep you company." I crumbled to the floor once again and felt all emotion drain from me. I felt nothing, nothing but numbness and that wretched tingling feeling that will now haunt me forever. I saw all my guests run out of the ballroom, and the enchantress seemingly disappear. I was soon left all alone, no one to comfort me, no one to save me from this awful nightmare.
And I soon realized I didn't just feel alone, I was all alone
My father was once a great performer. He reach people from all over the world to watch his circus act, men, women, children, the elderly, it didn't matter! He shared his love for performing with not only his crowd but also his family. My mother was the star act, trapeze artistry, and I soon joined in on her act as well. The crowd would cheer and I could feel their energy radiate through me. We dominated every region, and sold out shows every single night. But after my mother fell sick, and we had to continue the show without her to make sure we had food to eat every night, the shows audience count began to dwindle. We reassure them that she would be back soon, but people were never so patient, and so they just left without another word. Soon after our numbers waned, my mother passed and our audience was completely gone. We had no choice to move and settle down in a small town in the countryside.
"Pom! Are you listening to me?" My father, Caine, shouted at me from the next room. I snapped out of daze and stood up to walk out of my room.
"Sorry sorry I was dozing off what did you need Dad?" I rubbed the back of my head and shrugged. He seemed to be working on his "latest and greatest" invention. I walked over to the side of his desk, and leaned against the frame.
"My wrench! I can't find it! You think the fish ate it?" He pointed over to our candid fish tank, only housed two cheap looking goldfish. He bought these fish a while ago for a invention that needed "fish power" or something, but he almost killed the poor guys so I pulled the plug and ended up buying a small fish tank and fed them every once in a while.
"Dad, I doubt they did, did you check the one drawer its always in?" I glanced over at said drawer. He shrugged and opened it aggressively. he began to rummage around in there, and so I took a glimpse at what he was attempting to make. It looked quite strange, nothing I had ever seen before. I see one part, a small metal rod affixed to a couple more metal panes that turned and created a wind of sorts. Another part looked a little like a automobile, but with a little more point to the front of it and a narrower back, also had a contraption that looked like the metal rod.
"AH I found it!" He stood up with gusto, and held the wrench up in the air like it was buried treasure. I chuckled a little at his enthusiasm and smiled at him. I didn't notice before, but he wasn't wearing his usual work clothes. He was wearing a white dress shirt, with a blue vest over top of his shirt, and black slacks. Why would he wear such nice clothes?
"Dad, whats going on? You don't usually wear your nice clothes unless-" I trailed off and stopped when I saw the expression on his face. His eyes widen when he made eye contact and then immediately looked away and looked frantically around the room. My face flattened into a neutral expression, and I tilted my head to make my face parallel with his. My hands clasped together behind my back and I made a small angry growl sound.
"Ok ok yeah I have to go somewhere today!" he covered the sides of his head where his ears would be and shook his head. I stood back up again and sighed heavily.
"Can't you just be honest instead of playing this game with me?" I huffed and shook my head again.
"You're right Pom I'm sorry…but its for a good thing this time!" he put his pointer finger up and turned toward me.
"Uh huh, where ya trying to go this time?" I rolled my eyes, and crossed my arms. The last time he went off on his own, he brought one of our nicer carriages and a single horse. he came back with no carriage and he was riding on the horses back with scratches and bruises all over. I locked him in his room for weeks and he didn't DARE to come out.
"There's a inventors convention in the next town over, and I have to go see it!" his eyes sparkled with joy, and he held his arms close to his chest. A small smile stretched across my face and I laughed in my mind, but I remained composed on the outside.
"How about…no." I turned around with my arms still crossed, and he frantically pulled me by my arm back toward him.
"It's only in the next town over! I promise ill be back tomorrow afternoon! Come on Pom!" He practically was begging on his hands and knees. I looked back to see his eyes bulging out and his hands were turning pink with how tightly he was holding them. I didn't like the idea of him going to some convention or whatever, but its been a while since he's been out.
"Ugh fine, but you better not let what happened last year to happen again! You know how much I worry!" I practically shouted and he pulled me into a tight hug.
"Oh I know I know but don't you worry so much!" He rubbed the top of my head, messing up my hair.
"Ugh really!!" I pushed him off lightly and tried to fix my hair, to no success. he sat back down at his work desk and started adding some things to this contraption he was working on. I was curious what he was working on, but I was more concerned about my hair. I walked over to the bathroom and pulled out my box of matches. I lit the match and used it to light up the candle, giving me some light finally. I looked into the mirror and started to fiddle with my hair. My hair was cut to my shoulders in a short bob, and my pinwheel eyes shown through the glass brightly. I had already put on my day dress, it was rich red color, and my corset was pressed firmly into my waist. I had a white ribbon that was tied around my waist and tied into a bow in the back. Lace lay at the end of the sleeves and the bottom of the skirt, and the sleeves reached my elbows.
"Agh my hair won't cooperate!" I quietly said in frustration. I finally grabbed my brush and just brushed it out again. Finally after a quick brush and comb through, it looked just the way it was when i styled it this morning. I blow the candle out and walk out of the restroom and toward the door.
"Aaaand what do you think you're doing young lady?" Dad chimed in and I stopped dead in my tracks. I gave him a look of disappointment and continued walking.
"Dad you know where I'm going." I roll my eyes and barely catch him saying one last thing while going out the door.
"Ok but be safe!" The door closed behind me as I hopped down each step of our front entrance. A smile stretched across my face as I landed the last step and skipped away into town.
"Bread for sale! Fresh bread for sale!" The baker shouted outside his shop as I passed, I waved him down and he awkwardly waved back. "You buying some bread?" he said curtly
"Naw, I'm heading to the record store!" I said with glee in my voice
"Oh…well be on your way then." he turned away from me and began his chant again. I walked away, heading back in the direction of the record store. I always went every morning to see what kind of new music was being recorded. My father bought a record player as soon as they were on sale, and I began to collect them in stride. I was so excited when they finally opened an official store here, and me and the shop owner got quite aquatinted. I finally made my way there, and open the door. It was a small shop, no more than ten people could fit in there, but it was lined wall to wall with records and records players. The owner was sitting at his desk, cleaning a vinyl with a cloth, and looked up at me when I entered.
"Oh Pomni how nice to see you! What can I do ya for?" he smiled wide and immediately stood up and walked toward me.
"Anything new? I'm getting so bored of Brahms and Mozart." I sighed heavily and drooped my shoulders downward. I faked a bored look on my face and he shook his head clearly not fooled by my acting.
"How could one get bored of such legends? You clearly need to appreciate the good things before they're gone." he stuck his finger up like he was lecturing me and closed his eyes and continued to shake his head.
"Ok you got me I still love them but come on, what about me being your favorite customer?" I blinked rapidly to flutter my eyelashes at him and clasped my hands together and brought them close to my chest.
"Yeah more like only customer, but no unfortunately nothing new." he sighed and stuck both of his hands up and shrugged.
"Awww man." I whined disappointingly, and turned around to leave. He waved at me from behind and said,
"Come back again!" I turned around and waved back and then exited the store. Man I did really want something new, I frowned and began to dejectedly back home. the sun shown brightly, but it was quelled by a cool breeze blowing through. I closed my eyes and basked in the sun and cool air. Lots of townsfolk were standing and talking by the shops. Some sitting at some cafes in the area, or walking and talking with their family.
"Isn't she so strange? Why can't she just stay away with her crazy father?" "Wow can't believe she would dare grace us with her presence." I heard people begin to whisper about me from across the way, and I opened my eyes and stared directly at them.
"I can hear you ya know?" I scowled at them as I walked away. They scoffed at me and put their hands on their chest. This was the usual affair whenever I stepped outside of my house. Of course people knew of me and my father's unusual circumstance, and our past. Not everyone had the full story, and due to this made up rumors about us. Generally people kept their mouths shut but some people had some guts to actually speak their mind. I began to walk away from the naysayers, but I bumped into someone unexpectedly.
"Ah I'm so sorry pardon me-" I cut myself off after realizing who it was, someone I knew fairly well, unfortunately.
"Hello Pom, howz'ya been?" His Australian accent comes out strong, and I roll my eyes and try to go around him.
"I told you not to call me that Gummigoo, and can you move?" I said curtly, as he proceeded to get out in front of me, blocking me from moving.
"Aw but I just wanna talk for a sec, can't we?" he says mischievously, and I grunt annoyed. Gummigoo is a nobleman from the next town over, his family is pompous and rich beyond anyone within a 20 mile radius. He lived in Australia as a child, apparently, ergo why he has the accent.
"I don't wanna talk, I wanna go home, can't I?" I say sarcastically, lifting up my eyebrows, and looking up at him finally. He wore a white dress shirt with a green dress coat over top, and green slacks to match. A ribbon was tied around his collar like a tie, and it was also green. His green and yellow gummy like skin shined against the sun, and blinded me mildly. I squinted my eyes slightly but my eyes adjusted quickly. I moved to the right and he quickly moved to block me, so I resigned to hear him out, "Ok what do you want?" I stared blankly at his face.
"Don't you already know what I want?" He said smugly, and crossed his arms. I sighed harshly, and turned again to walk away. Why does he even try?
"If this is about 'courting me' or whatever you can save your breath." I spoke in monotone, and had a neutral expression on my face.
"Oh come on why don't you want to? I'm the hottest guy in town everyone would kill to be you." he said with a cheeky grin on his face. I hear a couple laugh and giggle from girls across the way, fawning over him. I rolled my eyes aggressively. I turned back toward him and he stuck his arms out wide, preventing my escape from this situation even further.
"First of all," I said as I turned back around to face him, "I am not interested in petty noble drama." I stuck my finger up and rest my elbow on the top of my hand that was sat just below my chest. "Second," I stuck up my middle finger to show two, "I want to marry for love, and I have no such feelings for you." I say straightforward, my eyebrow raises and I cross my arms.
"Hmm both valid reasons, I just don't care." he shrugs and then snickers. I scoff and put my arms down at my sides. He chimes in again, "So Pom, please marry me, you're the only one who matches my devilish good looks." he puts his finger tips on his forehead dramatically, and extends his other hand toward me gracefully. I furrow my brow and scoff.
"You can't be serious…." I saw quietly, "Yeah that's gonna be a no." I finally make my way past him and make my way back toward home. I hear his feet scuttle on the ground and rush toward me, he gets out in front of me, put his hands out in front of me.
"Oh come on, don't act like you don't like it sweet cheeks." He smirks at me in a seductive way, and grabs my hand unprompted. I immediately yank it away from his grasp, and grab the hand he held. I get a disgusted feeling in my chest, and scowl at him.
"Don't touch me, you do realize that's considered sexual harassment right?" I begin to walk past him at a faster pace and hear him call in the distance.
"You'll be seeing me again soon!" I feel a sick feeling begin to build in my chest, and I walk away even faster. I begin to see my house in the distance and practically run in the front door. I slam the door and press my back up against it.
"Welcome home Pom, getting some exercise in?" Dad greets me with a smile, and I huff out heavy air from my lungs. I'm covered in sweat, and the bottom of my dress is covered in dirt. Damn it that stupid brute.
"You…could say that." I huff out in between my heavy breaths. I stand up straight after I catch my breath and walk back toward my father's work desk. "No new records sadly, can I play something while you work?" I smile sadly at him, and he looks up at me. he smiles back.
"Of course, you always play the best songs Pom." he looks back down at his newest project and continues his work. I walk over to our record player and start browsing the records on the side of it. I slide my fingers in between each record, being careful to only touch the sleeves. I land on a record of Mendelssohn, and gently place it on the record player and moved the needle onto the first groove in the disk. A pleasant melody begins to play, and I move away to sit in a cushioned chair and listen to the song. The violins begin the piece, chiming in their piercing sound but it was pleasant to my ears. I hear the cellos begin the come in, and then the woodwinds mix into the sound. How does all these instruments come together to make one cohesive sound? I wondered as I continued to listen. I finally a soloist begin to play, a violin, playing loud and proud over the other instruments. It was a fast and staccato sound, which then switched into a long legato. I bobbed my head to the melody, and hummed the soloists part.
"You've heard this song a million times, how do you always look like you're hearing it for the first time?" I heard my father chime in suddenly, and I quickly turned around to face him. I felt heat in my cheeks from embarrassment, I didn't think he was paying attention.
"I always notice something new every time I listen, like how the woodwinds here actually follow the strings, and the soloist follows that up with a new melody." I close my eyes and begin to listen again.
"Oh yes I hear it now! Wow my daughter has quite the ear!" He winks at me and gives me a thumbs up, and I blush again. I lie back down to start listening again. I begin to immerse myself in the music again, and begin to feel my eye lids feel heavier and heavier, falling into a deep darkness.
Some time has passed and I feel an arm trying to shake me awake.
"Pom, wake up Pom." I hear a mysterious voice for a second, more immature sounding than my father's, and softer somehow. I open my eyes slightly and see a glimpse of purple in my eye, until I fully open my eyes and see my father standing over me. The room is weirdly silent, and I bolt to my feet.
"Oh god did I fall asleep?" I ask in which my father nods a sure yes. I put my hands to face and rub my eyes. I yawn and click my lips.
"You must've been tired after that run, I'm gonna be leaving now, wanna see me off?" He tilts his head slightly. I look back at him and nod.
"Of course I do! I'll help you put your stuff in the carriage!" I jump to my tip toes and begin walking out to the front porch. I'm slightly disappointed by the sight I see, the carriage was all ready to go, and the horse was strapped in too. "Aww you did it already?" I looked back at him as he came up behind me.
"Heh heh yeah sorry Pom I'm all set." He rubbed the back of his head and shrugged. I carefully made my way down the steps and stood to the side of the carriage. He was already dressed in a brown cloak and a cross body satchel.
"Well at least I woke you up to say goodbye, you should be thankful for that!" He stuck his finger up and closed his eyes for a second.
"Yeah yeah ok like you wouldn't have." I rolled my eyes and stuck my hands to gesture a possible hug. he wrapped his hands around, and I did so in return. We let go of each other and he hopped up on the front of the carriage. I waved at him and he waved back at me, and raised the reins and whipped them at the horse. The horse began to walk slowly on the road, and I still continued to wave him as he rode out into the dusk.
I rode into the woods, clutching the reins and looking out keenly into the woods. I lift my lantern up to be able to see the path before me.
"Hmm I don't think I recognize where I'm at." I looked at the map, squinting at where I'm supposed to be, and scratching my head with confusion. Oh god I think I might be lost. I looked up at the sky and saw dark clouds begin to form in the night sky, not a single star visible.
"I better find out where I am before this storm hits." I feel a small twinge of anxiety begin to build, but I breath out and keep going. I see a tree I recognize from earlier, and I was 100% sure it was that same tree. I begin to feel that same feeling from earlier. I don't let it overtake me though, I take a deep breath and exhale.
"Ok…ok I just need to follow the map." I press my finger back into the map and take the route I'm sure I'm supposed to go. I follow this trail into the woods and begin to feel a wet mist begin to accumulate. And soon enough, I felt the water begin to pour from the sky. I flip my hood up on my cloak, and flick the reins up again, signaling the horse to go faster. The horse neighs loudly and begins dashing down the trail. I feel the wetness hit my face and squint just enough to be able to see where we were going. The horse abruptly stops and kicks its front legs in the air.
"Oh god what is it now?!" I yell over the rain, and see the problem. A tree has been knocked over in the path. Geez can it be any worse? I flick the reins to the right where I see a path leading away from the tree, the horse goes where I tell it, and runs past the tree. We speed down deeper into the woods, and I can't see much other than trees, water, and the sky above me. I begin to hear noises not coming from the pouring rain, a soft howl in the distance. I begin to flick the reins again and again as anxiety builds in my chest.
"Go! Go you stupid horse!" I command above the rain. I begin to hear the howls get louder and louder, but I begin to notice something even stranger. The rain begins to wain, and small flecks of snow begins to fall. I feel the temperature begin to drop dramatically, and I rub the sides of my biceps aggressively. What the hell is this? Snow during the spring? I'm more concerned with the impending danger slowly approaching, so I focus on that and continue to ride toward wherever it seems I'm going. I begin to slow down as I don't hear the howls anymore, and something slowly begins to come into view. I see beyond the trees a giant castle, dark and black even against the night sky, a few candles are lit outside of its walls, and a few shine through the windows. I approach this castle cautiously and wanders on to its grounds. I see a beautiful rose garden stretch out over the front entrance, and in between is paved a stone path leading toward the front door. I see roses of every color, red, pink, blue, white, black, and purple as well. I didn't even know this many colors existed. I halt the carriage near the entrance, and tie my horse to a fence post right outside one of the flowerbeds. I begin to walk carefully up the steps toward the front door.
"I guess I'll have to greet our host, and hope they're friendly." I shutter from the cold, and my teeth begin to chatter. God now the adrenaline has died down, I can finally feel the cold. I put my hand on the handle, and turn the knob. The door opens loudly with a creek, and I flinch at the sound. I carefully slip into the door and close it carefully. I sigh in relief as the warm air hugs me tenderly, and I look to my right where the heat is protruding. I see a fireplace burning brightly and I immediately run toward it with haste. I see a cushioned arm chair I can rest my feet in, and sink into its comfort.
"Oh yeah that's the good stuff." I wiggle into the seat deeper, and sigh deeply. The silence is daunting on me, and I feel a sense of awkwardness.
"Hello! Gracious host!?" I yell out into the emptiness, with no reply other than the echo of my own voice. I feel another chill creep up my arm, most likely from the cold. I stand up out of the chair and begin to walk toward the left side of the entrance. I see a shoe cabinet, and two items sat a top of it. A gold candlestick, the body is shaped into a king chess piece, with hands holding up the candles, and one atop his head. The hands seemingly floated in mid air, but it must be held up by wires or something. the other item is a…clock? I think, it certainly has the face. The face is shaped in a weirdly shaped triangle, and the rest of it is adorned with all sorts of shapes and different knick knacks protruding from the side. I see a lightning bolt, a wing, a black and white striped Y, and a unicorn horn. There was two arm shaped handles on the side, also resembling geometrical shapes. I looked away from the two strange items,
"This person has weird taste." I began to turn away and then heard a small voice begin to speak.
"Not like I chose this body jackass." The voice sounded low toned, and angry to say the least. I turned around toward the voice and noticed the clock expression had changed, and my eyes widened. I stood up straight in surprise and turned toward the entrance. I gotta get out of this place! I thought as I ran as fast as I could out the door. As I made it outside, I spotted my carriage, and ran to it immediately. I began untying the rope I tied to the post, and quickly hopped up to the front of the carriage. I quickly began to clutch the reins tightly raising to begin making my way back home, but I had a quick thought.
"Oh i should take one of these roses for Pom, she would love a rare flower like that!" My anxiety subsided and I hopped off the carriage and made my way toward one of the flowerbeds. I reached down into the flowerbed, and pick up one of the purple roses. I held it in my hands, being careful to avoid the thorns. I hugged it close to my chest, I'll see you soon my sweet daughter. I carefully slipped into my bag and turned around to head back to my carriage, and head home. I turned, and was met with a huge figure blocking my way, as I looked up, anxiety building in my chest. I began to shake uncontrollably, and shouted the only thing I could think of.
"A monster!!"
