“So we ended up at this planet by accident, right, because everybody got drunk off some damned space virus, and we were gonna crash into a different planet, but Jim made Scotty blow up the engine, so we hurtled god knows how far across the galaxy and ran into this planet with these crazy time waves coming off it, so we went down to look, and we found the donut. But then the Klingons showed up out of nowhere, beamed down, started sniffing around the donut, and then you went and gave yourself up, ya damn idiot, and then Jim, the even bigger idiot, gave himself up, and then the Klingons went for Carol—Dr. Marcus—so I started shooting, but then she fell through the, the portal, and wound up here. Sort of.”
Spock leans infinitesimally back in his chair—the Vulcan equivalent of sagging, McCoy guesses.
“It would seem that your timeline is somewhat more… eventful than mine,” he says.
McCoy groans. “That is so not what I want to hear.”
