Chapter Text
The Avengers Compound was unusually quiet, which in Pietro Maximoff’s opinion, was very suspicious.
The speedster sat upside down on the living room couch, lazily scrolling through television channels while Wanda absorb a book nearby.
“You’re bored,” Wanda said without looking up.
“I’m never bored.”
“You reorganized the pantry.”
Pietro paused. “Maybe just a little bored.”
Before Wanda could respond, the sound of an approaching Quinjet echoed through the Compound.
Pietro immediately sat upright. “Oh thank God.”
Wanda sighed. “Pietro, please don’t scare whoever Tony is bringing this time.”
“No promises.”
The Quinjet landed with a hiss.
Within seconds Pietro was already outside.
Tony Stark stepped down first.
Then came Rhodey.
And then, A kid.
A really, really cute kid.
Pietro’s brain completely short circuited.
The boy looked around nervously, adjusting the backpack that were over his shoulder. He couldn’t have been much younger than Pietro. Messy brown hair stuck out in every direction, and large brown eyes darted around the Compound like he something was about to jump out and scare him.
The kid smiled awkwardly at something Tony said.
Pietro felt his heart do something strange.
“Oh no,” Wanda’s voice said beside him.
“What?”
She looked at him.
Then at the boy.
Then back at him. “Oh no.”
“What?”
“You like him.”
Pietro scoffed. “I just met him three seconds ago, no actually, i just saw his existence three seconds ago.”
“Exactly.”
The kid finally noticed them standing there.
Tony waved. “Kid, come meet the twins.” The boy walked over.
Pietro suddenly forgot every language he knew.
“Uh, hi i’m Peter Parker,” the boy introduced, extending a hand.
Pietro stared.
Peter blinked.
Wanda smacked the back of Pietro’s head.
“Ow!”
“Use your words.”
“Oh. Right.”
Pietro grabbed Peter’s hand.
And forgot to let go.
Peter awkwardly cleared his throat.
“Uh…”
Wanda pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Pietro Maximoff.”
Pietro finally released his hand. “Hi.” Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. The fastest man alive and the fastest or best thing he could come up with was a simple and boring hi.
Peter smiled anyway, and Pietro decided, right then and there, that he was completely doomed.
Three hours later Pietro had learned exactly ten facts about Peter.
Peter liked Star Wars.
Peter loved science.
Peter talked with his hands when he got excited.
Peter laughed at terrible jokes.
Peter got flustered when complimented.
Peter had an aunt named May.
Peter was ridiculously smart.
Peter was terrible at lying.
Peter looked adorable in oversized hoodies.
And Peter had somehow become the most interesting person Pietro had ever met.
“You’re staring again,” Wanda said.
“I am not.”
“You ran straight into a wall earlier.”
“That happened one time.”
“It happened twice, and i have never seen that ever happen before.”
Pietro groaned and buried his face in his hands. Across the room Peter sat beside Bruce Banner, enthusiastically discussing chemistry.
Every few seconds he smiled. And every time he did, Pietro felt like someone had replaced his organs with fireworks.
This was bad. This was very bad. Because Pietro had fallen in deep love at first sight, and Peter didn’t have the slightest clue.
