    Vegas strolled into the kitchen, his domain, and washed his hands so he could start pulling out ingredients. Vegas felt at ease. Macau was in his room, working on his homework. Pete was within sight, watching television and nice and relaxed. The day was settling as Vegas let himself get lost in the comfort of cooking. 

    When he reached for a knife from the block, however, Vegas paused. 

    “Pete?” Vegas called, keeping his voice level. 

    “Yeah?” 

    “Did you see Chay earlier? Cau was saying he stopped by today to help him with his homework.”

    Pete was quiet for a moment, and Vegas could practically see the cute, confused look on his face while Pete thought. 

    “Why?”

    Vegas smiled, pocketing the rabbit foot keychain. 

    “No reason.”
