It was an admittedly generic day for Nyarlhotep and AQuixoticFantasy, except that they were fighting in a custody hearing.
As they arrived inside the courtroom at got situated, Dmitri spoke
“I would like to say that Nyarlhotep would be a horrid parent to Winona, he’s barely even lucid most of the time!”
Dmitri’s voice cuts through, before Nyarlhotep responds, an undecipherable tone
“d u d e i a m h e r e right n o w i a m o b v i o u s l y lucid”
Dmitri then shouts back
“Fucks sake, you locked her away for 50 years! I wouldn’t trust you with a hamster, let alone a child.”
They’re both about to lunge at each other, before the judge slams his gavel down and shouts
“ORDER! ORDER IN THE COURT!”
Everyone goes back to resting position, there is silence for a good few seconds, before AQuixoticFantasy is the first one to speak
“Look, Mr. Shostakovich doesn’t really seem in the headspace to properly care for a child. From what we know, he’s been wandering around, and even committing grave robbery”
AQuixoticFantasy takes a second to think of his next words, looking over at Dmitri, who’s trying to calm himself down
“He also seems somewhat easy to aggravate, who knows if he’d just flip his lid, and attack that poor girl”
AQuixoticFantasy’s tone has a suave sound to it. Which has a positive effect on the judge, Dmitri takes his turn to speak.
“Just look at that thing” Dmitri says, gesturing to Nyarlhotep “Do you think it has the ability to take care of a child? For Shed’s sake, it doesn’t even have opposable thumbs”
Dmitri’s tone sounds atleast somewhat agitated, which doesn’t help his case in any way. AQuixoticFantasy takes this time to speak
“I used to have a partner before Nyarl. Me and her had an adopted kid we took care of for a while”
AQuixoticFantasy digs through his wallet, taking out a picture, holding it up to the rest of the court. It shows him, and a woman on a picnic, a child there with them, they all seem to be having a good time.
Having seen enough, the judge comes to a verdict, as AQuixoticFantasy puts the picture away.
“Alright, i’ve seen enough”
Both parties are waiting, somewhat nervous as the judge prepares to speak.
“AQuixoticFantasy, you have proven you’re able to take care of a child, so we are awarding you custody of Winona”
AQuixoticFantasy jumps up in a celebratory way
“Oh hell yeah!”
Dmitri is at his stand, holding his head in his hands, distraught that Winona has been taken away from him.
AQuixoticFantasy and Nyarlhotep leave the courtroom, with Winona in tow.
