Chapter Text
(Kronos POV)
Today is the 19th of June, 2026.
And of course, just another day of paperwork, if not anything else.
... Oh, right. I think you already know who I am. No need for introductions, then. Just a quick recap of what happened.
So, it's 1750. Me and four of my brothers were just freed from tartarus, after probably thousands of years. Don't ask how I was.. well, resurrected after being cut to pieces. Back to the topic at hand.
It was weird seeing how mankind had changed since the golden age. From simple minded beings to the current most successful species on earth, who have changed the world in lots of ways, one of them being weaponry.
And that was probably the start of all this paperwork.
Back then, with the most deadly weapons were swords, spears, and arrows, death toll was a lot but manageable, quoting Hades. But I learned that mankind invented... guns. You see where this is going.
In the following century, a lot of wars, a lot of deaths, and a lot of work for us in the underworld. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, not one, but two world wars?? Seriously? At the end we just gave up and burned the paperwork.
Anyways, back to the present.
It's about 9 in the morning, and I'm already walking to Elysium, carrying this big stack of paperwork. Great, just absolutely great. Atleast I have my earphones, and they're actually some of the mortal inventions that I actually like. About the song choice, it's some musical a guy made, some sort of a adaptation of the Odyssey. Honestly? Really well made. I'm starting to appreciate some mortals more, ironically.
And yes, I did do some research about it. It's pretty interesting, the 600 dead men must've been a pain, but about the entire "Poseidon gets stabbed with his own trident" thing, well.... he's lucky that a trident was made to stab and not slice, or else he'd probably end up like me. You know, cut to pieces?... Okay that wasn't funny. At all.
.. Right. Still walking, passing by a few people, some shades, some chthonic gods, including Hades, and a seemingly random shade that I noticed a few seconds too late.
Based on Hades' description of him, that shade was definitely Odysseus.
"....Well that was unexpected. Oh well, paperwork won't do itself."
*more walking idk*
*he's now at his office in Elysium and there's more paperwork as usual*
... *sighs*
Yeah. For the next five hours, that's all I did. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork, and every passing second makes the urge to scream into my wing grow stronger and stronger.
And I did. Thankfully it wasn't that loud, but it did cause some feathers to fall out, and it now hurts because I fell on it.
At this point just fucking get this done with.
*hours later*
It's done. Not all, but enough that I don't need to do that much tomorrow.
And now I'm bored. So I open Twitter, or X, or whatever it's called now.
.... Yes I have Twitter. Don't ask. No I don't tweet slurs. I'm not that bad.
"Eh, not interesting, still not interesting, who in tartarus is charlie kirk??"
Then my phone buzzes with a notification. From a group chat me and my siblings made.
... Don't ask why it's called "The most useless greek chorus in all of existence". It's just true, and nothing can change my mind.
*group chat*
