This world is like any other, except for one thing, Omegas.
Omegas are things of myth, legends. Everyone knows about them but not how to care for one, all universities have courses on how to care for them, but none of their knowledge has ever been tested.
Omega produce unique gem stones in certain places in their bodies which have the ability to cure anything with the tiniest sliver of it.
But unfortunately, they are very delicate and need a lot of care, as such, they are called Precious Ones. Born only once in around 1000 years.
So what happened when a Precious One appears in Princeton-Plainsboro?
