Chapter Text
Long ago, there were two brothers, the Sun and the Moon. The Sun was an incredible force, warm, beloved, and strong. Humanity looked towards him as a leader. One that would bring them to the path of light during a time when the darkness of Death loomed over. He was a being of creation, protection, and light.
On the other hand, there was the Moon. Much like his brother, he was a strong, capable warrior. But he never received as much recognition. Although the two were identical, the Sun was much more beloved. This began to spawn hatred and jealousy within the Moon. In cultivating these emotions, the Moon was left vulnerable, an easy target to manipulate.
And thus Death did. Death spoke of vengeance and glory, something that the Moon deeply felt he deserved. So he accepted Death's deal. He became a warrior against the cause of humanity, turning against all he had ever known. Nothing could stop him, or at least he thought so.
In his blind rage, the Moon had forgotten about a friend he once held dear. A friend who had always reached out to him, someone so calm and beautiful. The Tides. The Tides was a man who, although under the cause of the Sun, had always leaned towards the Moon. Both were more soft-spoken individuals who enjoyed the beauty of humanity.
In encountering his long-lost friend, the Tide gave up his life for a chance to show the Moon the beauty of humanity once more. This snapped the Moon out of Death's grasp, if only for a moment. The Moon, devastated by what he had done to his friend, offered up a part of himself in exchange for his beloved companion to remain at his side.
Life accepted this exchange and allowed the Tides to remain as he was, but with everlasting life. Life had seen the Tides' appreciation for humanity, her most beloved creatures, and allowed him to remain whole. The Moon, now, with calm by his side, faltered in his loyalty to Death. This angered Death.
With what little pull he had on the Moon, he pushed and prodded—forcing the Moon to push away the Tides. Upon their separation, the Moon became Death's best soldier. Slaughtering humanity, leaving behind a path of dead bodies. No one could save him now.
The Tides watched from afar, though. He still felt that never-ending pull to the Moon. He knew that if he could talk to the Moon and release him from Death's manipulation, they could once again enjoy the perfection of life.
And thus the journey begins.
