Chapter Text
Izuku was tired.
He was tired of the bullying.
He was tired of the teachers not caring.
He was tired of school.
He was tired of being quirkless.
He was tired of feeling useless.
He was tired of waking up.
He was tired of eating.
He was tired of existing.
He was tired of living.
It seemed as if everything made him tired, but he had a solution. A way to fix everything.
“Just pray that you’ll be born with a quirk in your next life, and take a swan dive off the roof of the building!”
Words sure do have power, huh?
“Where…am…I?” Izuku thought to himself.
He was floating. Who knows where, but maybe it was heaven. Where else could he be?
Then he fell.
And he hit the ground.
“Agh-!” he grunted upon the impact.
He stood up, and nothing hurt. Izuku couldn’t help but contemplate how he was okay.
He fell, and was fine. Not a scratch, not even a bruise. It shouldn’t have been possible. Especially from so high up.
Choosing not to think too hard on it, he started walking around, hoping to find some answers.
With each step, he grew even more confused. There was nothing around for miles, and yet he felt compelled to keep going. It felt like an eternity had been passing by.
“Is that..” Izuku stopped walking. “A fountain?”
As he stepped closer, it got clearer. The more detailed, all the more prettier.
“It looks so beautiful..” was all he thought looking at the running water. It really was.
The fountain was golden, and the water was sparkly. It looked like something out of a millionaire's home.
He wanted to touch it.
He wanted it to engulf him whole.
And what a lovely thing it would be.
To let it take him.
So he put his hand in, and the water started glowing.
“What…. Is happening..?” he let out between gasps.
When he was able to move his arm away, he jumped back, and his wings kept him from hitting his back on the floor.
Wait, his wings? Where did he get those?
In fact, when did his whole appearance change?
Well, most of it.
He no longer wore his school uniform, he was dressed in all white, with gold finishes.
The clothes were baggy, and yet elegant. His arms were covered in bandages, from his wrist to elbow. They looked new, and completely unlike the ones he wore before. Good thing he always wore long sleeves! What would his mother say?
His ankles had golden bracelets on them, and his shorts had a cape attached. It was frilly, and scrunched up at the top.
His shirt looked like a sheet that was wrapped around him. The sleeves of it stopped just a little past his shoulders, mid way to his elbow, and were easy to move in.
He looked just like an angel, if the wings and halo weren’t enough to show for it.
Izuku was beyond confused. Anyone would be if they were in his shoes! Which ironically, he did not have.
He wondered if this meant he developed a quirk. Maybe dying was the first step of activating it. Would that mean that the fountain was the second?
Perhaps walking around would prove to be useful again.
He felt weightless as he walked. Like he didn’t exist at all. If only that were the truth.
Maybe by getting used to this quirk, he could help people. And with a smile too! He could be just like All Might.
So Izuku tried moving his wings, and it was quite something to get used to. It felt completely foreign to him, and he had no idea how to use them.
He tried thinking back to his hero analysis notes, to how Hawks looked when he took flight. Remembering that information helped A LOT.
After a bit of struggling, he was finally able to fly up, and he was able to move his wings. It felt amazing to soar in the air. And yet, it still felt like he had more to do. Like he still had more things to learn.
How could he train and work on discovering the way this new found quirk worked?
While muttering the possibilities, a door spawned behind him, and opened. Huh. How convenient! Maybe this would be the solution!
Izuku couldn’t see anything as he walked through the door. It was silent, and looked like a void.
After a couple more steps, he saw a light, and rushed towards it.
He ended up on Dagobah beach. It was still as trashy as ever, but maybe it had a use.
It was at that moment that Izuku decided to use it to train. He would get stronger, and he would be able to help people more. Besides, the beach could use a good cleaning anyways.
Well. This is a problem.
Izuku couldn’t make contact with anything.
Every time he tried, it would just phase through him.
“There had to be another way to do this..”
He brainstormed for quite a while.
Maybe.. he could float it? I mean, it would be a bit of a stretch, but his mom could float objects. Maybe it was something he got from her, other than the fact he looked exactly like the younger, boy version of her.
He put his arm in front of him, and pointed at it. To his surprise, it worked!
Well, that solves that problem!
Izuku just hoped that a new one wouldn’t arise any sooner.
Hey, maybe he could even study here! After all, he did need to keep up with his studies, dead, or alive! I mean, what good could a hero who couldn’t even think for himself do? He needed the time for his analysis anyways.
This was perfect.
Izuku was proud of himself. How surprising. He hadn’t felt like that in a very long time. But, he had a good reason! The beach was clean now! And all it took was 10 months. At least he was happy with his work. He should be if it took that long.
Dagobah looked beautiful, he gained more muscle, and he got a better grasp of his kinda quirk! It all paid off. He even got more emotionally intelligent, and book smart!
Looks like all that reading and learning did him some good after all. He would even drop by at Aldera to see what they were learning.
But, no one could see him. He was able to pretty much go wherever he wanted, all he needed to do was think of it. Yet, at every place he appeared, no one could see him.
Izuku figured out through trial and error, he could visit people in their dreams. He had no idea when that came up. He was just watching All Might sleep, (totally not creepy at all) and then, he was talking to him!
Luckily, he recognized him as the kid he saved from the sludge villain. That made Izuku feel horrible. How could he possibly explain to his inspiration, someone who saved him, that it was all futile in the end.
All Might went through all that trouble to save his life, and Izuku decided to take it away anyways. How could he have done that to him? How could he have possibly done that to the person he looked up to?
Fortunately, All Might wasn’t mad. He even apologized for telling him he couldn’t be a hero. He looked…remorseful.
That meant a lot to Izuku.
It gave him hope, and gave him a purpose again. If All Might said he could’ve been a hero, who’s to say he couldn’t? Now he was sure that he could do it. He even talked about his quirk to him, and he told him he could do great things with it!
“It’s never too late to accomplish your dreams.”
That was the note All Might left Izuku on.
Maybe, he could use that power to help others. To save them. To be the hero he always wanted to be.
That’s everything he would have wanted.
Back at his headspace, (Izuku deemed it so) he thought of ways he could help people.
The entrance exam was coming up, maybe he could visit the participants while they sleep, and mentally prepare themselves for it. That would be a good thing to do! It would help make sure that people were ready, and that UA got the best of the best when they were ready!
Or maybe, he should just wait it out, and see who makes it. It would be easier than scouting out the people who he thinks are going. Then, he could help those students survive their high school years.
It would make the pressure of being a hero easier to deal with, and he could make some friends. Then, it’d be like he made it into his dream school after all.
The possibilities were endless! He could help them in so many ways! Izuku knew it would work out. He sure as hell hoped it did. And he sure as hell hoped everyone would be able to get better.
Maybe he should wait until Kacchan makes it in? It was already a guarantee he would. He had the coolest quirk Izuku has ever analyzed! And that’s saying something, since he’s studied the quirks of many, many heroes.
Izuku knew he could help his class work through any problems, or any teenage angst crap they had carried along with them from their childhood.
Yeah, that’s it! That’s what he’ll do! It would be the perfect plan.
While watching the entrance exam, Izuku was fascinated with everything! The way the students used their quirks was beautiful. It was hard to tell who’d make it, and who wouldn’t.
Oh? Izuku snapped out of his thoughts, and turned to see the students running.
It seemed to be..a zero pointer they were escaping! No wonder they were running away. I mean, it looked super dangerous, and if there was nothing to gain, why fight it anyways? You would just be wasting energy when you could use it for something better.
Izuku assumed that’s what they'd be thinking. I mean, it’d be the logical choice if you wanted to survive. But in a moral sense, Izuku knew he wouldn’t be able to run away if it meant someone could get hurt.
Wait, there was a girl stuck underneath some rubble. And no one was helping her. Talk about someone getting hurt!
Maybe he could help her? He had no idea how though.
Izuku flew to her, and stopped just in the air in front of the robot. He put both arms forward hoping something would happen, and it did!
He created a shield. And it crushed the robot.
The zero pointer fell back and crumbled upon the impact. Izuku was just glad no one got hurt.
Then he realized the girl was still stuck. So he flew back down, and lifted the rocks off her.
“W-what..” the girl stumbled out. “The hell just happened..?”
Izuku knew she must’ve been beyond confused. He just wished he could have explained it to her.
He stepped forward, and a light came forth. Huh.
He was talking to her. She was talking to him. How unbelievable.
She even commented on whatever was covering his eyes. It was the first thing that came out of her mouth, surprisingly. Izuku was glad she did.
During his time cleaning the beach, he found a bag of blindfolds. Why it was there, he had no idea. But he decorated it with flowers, and brought it back to his headspace. It was there that he was able to add it to his outfit. What a wonderful addition it was.
“Do you like it? I could make you one as well, if you’d like!” Izuku said in response to her comment.
“Uhm! N-no..! It’s fine!” The girl replied back. “But Uhmm...” she looked around. “Where…are we?”
Izuku saw her nervous expression, and gave a gentle smile to assure her.
“My headspace,” he simply said. “It is rather beautiful, is it not?”
Then, the girl looked around. It really was.
Izuku found out he could imagine whatever he wanted to shape the place. So, he made it into a field of flowers. He made the sky as clear as the water from the fountain, and added butterflies, and all kinds of marvelous things! It was by this method that he could create his eyewear.
“Yeah…” the girl looked around in awe. “Its probably the prettiest place I’ve seen”
Izuku smiled more at that.
“I’m glad,” she looked back at him when he spoke. “It took a long time..”
She chuckled at the sigh he let out while saying that.
She almost forgot what she was thinking about when she first got there.
“I-I’m really glad to be here! Honest..but Uhmm,” she waved her arms in front of her. “Who are you…and..why am I here..?”
Izuku just gave her another soft smile.
“So that you’d be safe. I mean,” he turned his head to the side. “That robot sure was scary, huh?”
Her eyes widened.
Was he…the reason she was protected from the zero pointer? It would make the most sense. I mean, it’s head just randomly smashed in and it fell back for goodness sake!
She was just glad someone was there for her.
“Thank you…” he turned back to her at her words. “I’m forever grateful…”
Izuku just took her by her hands, and stood themselves up.
“Do not worry, Uraraka,” she gasped, and her eyes widened once more at his words. “I’ll always try my best to protect you”
She blinked at him, and when she opened her eyes, she was in the infirmary.
“Was that all…” she sat up. “A dream?”
“Ah, you’re awake,” a short, elderly woman said. Was that..recovery girl?
“You passed out, and gave us quite a worry there.”
“Oh..I see..” had she imagined everything?
“It was strange..” Ochako turned to look at recovery girl. “The robot just self-destructed, I suppose. And you passed out during the explosion.”
It was then that Ochako realized, it was in fact not her imagination. It was all real.
“I…see..”
“You sure do ‘see’ a lot,” recovery girl said as she walked away to tend to another patient, chuckling to herself at her joke.
If that boy really saved her, how could she ever repay him? Would she even be able to talk to him again?
That angel was all she could think about. Being a student at UA never looked better. She just hoped he’d be in her class.
Back at his headspace, Izuku thought about Ochako. He was glad to have saved someone, and to have discovered two new abilities.
He couldn’t wait until he helped his future “class!” It’d be an experience, that’s for sure.
Izuku just hoped he would be able to save them from any problems or bad thoughts they carried with themselves.
To be a hero, is to help everyone no matter the circumstance.
That was his idea of what a hero was.
Someone who would rescue the person no matter who it was.
Someone who would save them from anything.
Even if it was from themselves.
That’s what makes a good hero.
Izuku would do anything to live up to that.
“Welcome… to UA highschool!”
What a way to start the year.
