Summary
After Kaneki escaped the Anteiku Raid with an injured Hide, they decide to settle down in a small rural town. It's a chance to start over and live a peaceful life. Yet while peace is what Kaneki had craved of for so long, it no longer feels right. He isn't the same person he used to be, and without a mission, his past actions weigh on his shoulders. Yet when he hears of Kanou's latest human experiments, Hide and him can't stand by and do nothing. Maybe Kaneki can help someone find hope just as Anteiku did for him.
Amon is no longer human. Kanou had seen to that. It's obvious what he is now even if he doesn't want to accept it. When an eye patched ghoul and past co-worker rescue him, Amon finds he can no longer go back to the life he'd once lived. He isn't suited to the life of a ghoul or to one of peace, and as he learns the CCG is no longer an option, an empty hopelessness fills him instead of a sense of freedom.
