Not As Bad

Summary:

Khan has negative feelings about himself, especially thinking he’s a bad father. N comforts him and tells him he isn’t as bad as people think.

Notes:

Yes, it’s an N x Khan fic. I wanted to write something wholesome with these two and this idea was in my head for a while
THESE TWO NEED TO INTERACT MORE :’(

No, the ship is not weird. I understand if you think it is cuz of the age difference but…uh, N is an adult (Liam even said all characters in MD, except Beau ofc, are all 18+) so it isn’t as bad.

Who cares anyway.

Anywho, if I feel like it, might write more.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Khan was pacing back and forth in the hallways, anxious and upset. He was getting nervous as thoughts ran through his processor…

You’re a bad father. You left Uzi for dead. You were never there for her. Only obsessed with doors and nothing else.

He shook his head and groaned, leaning against the wall. He just feels guilty about everything. He wishes he was actually there for Uzi…and fucking grabbed the rail gun and shoot as Uzi told him to but no, he was so scared and just left her.

He sat on the floor, hugging himself as he doesn’t have anyone to get comfort from. Then, he heard footsteps; someone was approaching. “Uh, hello..?” He called out, he couldn’t see who was approaching him but as the figure stood in the light…he recognizes him.

It was the murder drone that Uzi has been hanging out with. Great, what does he want? He isn’t too fond of him and doesn’t trust him one bit…even if he’s different from the rest.

“Mr. Uzi? What are you doing here?”

N tilted his head slightly in concern. He wonders why he’s all by himself in the hallway. Khan didn’t answer and just looked away from his direction. It was silent until N sat down next to him since he knows something is bothering him.

”Need someone to talk to..? We may not, uh, get along but I’m always here if ya need me…”

He places a hand on his shoulder, smiling at him. The older drone turned his head to look at the murder drone. “I…I’ll be fine, kiddo…” He responded, hugging his knees tighter. N knows something is up, he isn’t that stupid to know if someone is in a bad state.

“Cmon, Mr. Uzi! It’s okay to express your feelings…just tell me what’s wrong and we’ll work it out together!” He encouraged, tail wagging slightly. Khan just stared at him, refusing to say a word…He doesn’t normally be this sad…but these thoughts has been through his mind for a while now. He took a deep breath and sighs. “Fine…”

It was silent for a moment before he finally spoke,

”I think I’m a bad father…no, I am a bad father. I left Uzi for dead and ran away like a god damn coward. Was never there for her when she needed it…all I care about is doors this and doors that…I sometimes wonder why Nori chose me…I’m nothing but a…laughing stock.”

The disassembly drone was listening in complete shock. He can’t believe he was saying he’s a bad father; making his core sink into his stomach. “Hey now…don’t say that about yourself…” He places a hand on his knee, making him lift his head up. “You’re not a bad father as people say you are…you’re just trying your best is all!”

He gave his knee a small pat and Khan shook his head, not agreeing on what he said. “No. I don’t deserve to be a parent…like you would understand…you’re always so…joyous so why would you understand..?” He slightly yelped as he felt his hand squeezing his knee.

He realized what he said and quickly apologized. “S-Sorry, didn’t mean to-“

”No, it’s okay…I do understand…cuz I wasn’t all that great when I was working as a butler in the manor…I would get treated like trash, especially by…her parents…” He pauses, removing his hand from his knee and leans back against the wall. Khan raises an eyebrow as he mentioned someone. “Who’s…her..?”

N shook his head, “Sorry…Tessa…she was a human that basically lived in the manor…she was like a mother to us…wish you could’ve met her…she loved us like no other…”

Khan listened and started to feel…bad for him. So he has lost someone too. “I see…you lost someone too, huh..? I mean, I know Nori is alive still but before that, I didn’t know if she was…” He said, sighing. N looks at him and scoots up a little. He placed a hand on his shoulder. “At least she’s alive and you two reunited, right..?”

The older drone didn’t react when he placed his hand on him and just slowly nodded. Guess this murder drone isn’t as bad as he thought, despite these drones killing others to get oil. “You’re…you’re not bad, kid…”

He said and N smiled. “Aw, thank you! Means a lot coming from you!” His tail began to wag slightly as he was getting happy that Khan was accepting him. “Though…I do have a question to ask…what is this absolute solver and who is Cyn..?” That question hit hard as like a brick hit his chest. “Oh…uh…well, Cyn and the absolute solver are different…just the solver possesses the body of Cyn, who does call me ‘big brother’..”

He rubbed the back of his head, sorta not wanting to talk about that subject. He has been through a lot ever since the experience in the manor. He sighs. “I…I sorta don’t want to talk about it…sorry…”

“Oh, it’s okay…I can understand why it’s a tough subject for you…” It was silent for minute until Khan cleared his throat. “Thanks for…chatting with me…it was nice…” N smiled and patted his head playfully. “Don’t mention it! Always there for a buddy!” Buddy…a word he never thought a disassembly drone would call him.

None of them realize that N’s hand was moving down to Khan’s…as it touched…a spark hit, causing them to flinch and move their hands away. They stared at each other and didn’t notice they were…blushing. “Oh! I-I must go! Uhh…I promised Uzi I’ll hang out with her! Okay bye-“ The disassembly drone stood up as quickly as he can and speed walked away.

Khan just watched him go then looked at his hand…what was that spark..? It can only mean when…His optics widened. No! That can’t be…he can’t…He took a deep breath and pressed himself against the wall, letting out a small groan.

“Please don’t tell me I’m falling for a disassembly drone.”
