Work Text:
Wednesday Addams had always been apathetic. Since she was a child she kept her usual impassive and cold look; because she was this. She didn't show interest in the things she ran after every girl of her age, but she showed interest in something else. And they were mostly things that had to do with death or torture.
She was proud of it. She was not like all the other girls and she immediately realized it when one distant summer day at her tender age of four a group of exaggeratedly colorful and lively girls asked her to play with her... with dolls. She had looked at them with disgust and horror, but replied proudly: "yes, but only if it's about killer dolls".
Obviously they ran away scared by that little girl who knew no other color than black. But one of them commented in a despicable way what Wednesday had replied and she, objectively, was pleased with it. And in the end she didn't exchange a word with girls like those. She promised never to do it again.
Her entire life was based on her greater interests. No stupid love or friendship problem could ruin her goals.
Kindergarten;
Elementary school;
Middle school;
But something changed during high school. Or rather, something changed when her parents forced her to attend a school for "outcasts". And that something was a person. But not just any one. One of those typical girls with whom she should never have exchanged a word again. And she did it, at the beginning. With all of herself.
But it's a lost battle when it comes to Enid Sinclair: pop-fangirl who always dresses in ridiculously bright colors, laughs at every stupid video, when she's happy she walks jumping, listens to music constantly and is hopelessly romantic. A real nightmare for Wednesday Addams. Or that's what she thought.
Because in reality she fell madly in love with it. Months and months with her roommate made her understand what it meant to love someone. This didn't change her: she had remained the usual Wednesday who loved serial-killer documentaries, the usual Wednesday who was looking for trouble every other day and the usual apathetic and excessively monochrome Wednesday.
She didn't change outside; she changed inside. Her heart had begun to beat once and for all.
And all this because of Enid Sinclair. Enid who had never thought that someone like Wednesday Addams could notice her. Notice her! Her being hopelessly romantic had broken into the cold heart of the girl without feelings, and she was more than proud of it. Especially because she reciprocated those feelings.
Dating Wednesday was not easy but this did not stop her at all; on the contrary, she seemed more and more looking to test her. And this meant putting herself to the test too, because Wednesday could react in a completely different way than she imagined.
This was for Enid to kiss Wednesday for the first time. Or hug her. Or take her by the hand in front of everyone. They were all tests to see how far Wednesday could go. And under all her imagination Wednesday didn't say anything. This means that she consented to those gestures, that she would let Enid do those things.
Having the chance to take Wednesday Addams by the hand was almost strange, actually. No one dared to touch even by mistake or as a joke the girl without feelings of Nevermore. But the truth was that now there was someone. And it was really her. Every time she intertwined her hand in hers it made her excited; she felt the heat (or coldness) of her hand, she felt the softness of her skin and her fingers holding her tight as if she didn't want that moment to end.
As if she was afraid that at any moment Enid could let her go. But she never did it.
Hugging her was even better: she could cling to her and hold her tight like no one had ever done, she could feel the sensation of her arms surrounding her body gently and she could feel the way Wednesday let herself go. She let herself be hugged without saying a word.
But what was even better was, without a shadow of doubt, kissing her.
Lips that had never even been touched by someone. Enid had been the one between the two who took the first step when one day she approached Wednesday dangerously hoping she understood her intentions. Oh, if she understood them. It was Wednesday who closed the distance between them once and for all by pounging on those lips so soft that she had dreamed of kissing so much.
She had never admitted it to anyone, obviously. In fact, she threatened Enid not to tell it around.
Especially to the bloodsucker also known as Enid's best friend. Because she knew her roommate well enough to know that she would open her mouth telling around what had happened. Enid promised not to tell her anything, anyway. And so their immense love story began.
Every day that passed Enid continued to challenge her girlfriend's limits. She wanted to get to know Wednesday in every way. She wanted to learn everything about her. So much so that one day she set herself a goal: to try to make Wednesday Addams smile. It wasn't easy but it wasn't impossible either.
It happened one winter afternoon when Wednesday, just returned to her room to retrieve an object that she probably needed for one of the usual strange things she dedicated herself to, saw Enid under the blankets totally buried by them. It was almost rare for Enid to feel cold because of her being a werewolf but she had made her tender.
— Enid? — Wednesday called cautiously.
— Hey, you're already back. I didn't think you'd be back already.
— Just to get something... — she paused. — Are you cold?
— A little, yes. I'm fine, don't worry — Enid replied confidently. — I'm fine down here!
Wednesday approached her furtively.
— Are you sure?
— Yep.
— So you don't need me to be with you under the blankets? — she raised an eyebrow, but she had said it only to make fun of her.
She knew Enid by now. And if there was one thing she knew about her, it was that she wasn't afraid to ask for her attention.
"Can you hug me?"
"Can you caress my hand?"
"Can you cuddle me?
"Can you kiss me?"
All requests from Enid in months and months of dating. All requests to which she had clearly given full access. Enid didn't always have time to ask her because Wednesday was already doing it.
—You know, now that I think about it I really need your presence. Right here next to me — Enid said tapping the space next to her, softening her eyes even more than usual in the hope of convincing Wednesday.
And Wednesday smiled for the first time in front of her. Because it was precisely because of her that it happened. She expected a similar answer from Enid, but what she did not expect was the tenderness of her gaze. Her blue eyes full of hope, her full and pink cheeks and her folded eyebrows made her lose control of her facial muscles.
— Was that a smile?
— Maybe.
— Did Wednesday Addams smile for me? If it's a dream don't wake me up!
— It's not a dream, but I'm sorry to decline your request. I have something important to finish —Wednesday admitted. — Let's do it tonight, okay?
Enid nodded happily waiting for Wednesday's return that evening.
She had been quite happy, Enid thought in the following days. It had all happened unintentionally and maybe Wednesday was starting to soften more and more. And for this reason she set yet another goal: to make Wednesday blush.
How hard could it be to make her blush if she had smiled so easily, after all?
The very day she had this idea she made a list of things that could have made her blush. She took her diary from the drawer, opened it and flipped through to the first empty page. And while Wednesday was who knows where as usual, she was lying on the bed drawing up the list. She was almost sure that after the first two attempts, at most, she would succeed.
“Goal: to make Wednesday blush.”
She wrote as a large title at the top of the page.
First point: biting her lips during a kiss. (1.)
Second point: caress her hair/offer to do her braids before going to sleep. (2.)
Third point: kiss her neck (or maybe she would kill me?) (3.)
Fourth point: give her a compliment (4.)
Fifth point: kiss her longer? (5.)
Satisfied with that list, she closed the diary to wait anxiously for Wednesday's return to start with the first point. She would have freaked out if she had blushed so easily and at the mere thought she bit her lips by herself. And maybe Wednesday wouldn't kill her if she tried, right?
She got out of bed starting to go back and forth to her side of the room. She checked the time every minute while waiting for Wednesday.
1.
She almost got a blow when she saw Wednesday enter, with the usual impassive and serious look, through the door that had been the victim of the constant gaze of Enid who jumped with happiness approaching Wednesday.
Her plan had just begun. More determined than ever she hugged Wednesday, almost amazed by all the happiness contained in Enid but determined to please her girlfriend.
She returned the hug by clinging completely to her while she allowed herself to sink a hand in Enid's hair because she knew how much she liked it. She didn't let go of the hug until Enid decided to do it. It had always been like this; it was not up to her to dissolve the hug but to Enid, because she was the one who asked for it and she granted it to her.
— So — Enid began to say giggling. — How was your day?
— Terrible as usual. Yours seems to have gone pretty well, instead — Wednesday replied crossing her arms.
— You can say that, yes — Enid replied nodding. — But I'm a little tired...
— So?
— Sooo — Enid said lengthening the final vowel. — I really need something to cheer me up.
— Okay, I'll go get you your favorite food.
Wednesday made to turn around but Enid pulled her by the arm towards her. It wasn't a bad idea, Enid thought. But at the moment she didn't need her favorite food, which was really unusual, but she just needed to see Wednesday blush.
— No! I don't feel like eating anything right now. Or better, yes. But not food — she sighed.
Wednesday raised a confused eyebrow. Enid wasn't used to asking for kisses like that and even if she had caught the request she didn't immediately do as she asked.
— Enid...
— Just kiss me, Wednesday.
At this point she didn't have it repeated twice. If this was what she needed she would have given it to her. She hit her lips with her placing her hands on both Enid’s cheeks who melted completely in that kiss. It was a frantic kiss, needy at first but instead of intensifying it slowed down. Because that's how Enid wanted.
She kept capturing Enid's lips with her own as if she could never get enough. Enid also put one of her hands on Wednesday's cheek to stabilize herself. Their tongues collided more than once before slowing down to sweet and tender kisses that filled Wednesday's heart with little spiders that gave her no respite inside her stomach.
Enid slowed down the kisses more and more before catching Wednesday's lips with hers for the last time. A kiss even slower than the others, with swollen and red lips after all that contact, which ended with Enid sensually biting her lower lip breaking away from the kiss.
Enid opened her eyes immediately after to see Wednesday's reaction who only softened her gaze; this only happened when she wanted to contain a smile. No trace of redness on the cheeks. Because the only redness was on Wednesday's lips, actually.
Enid, displeased for her first failed attempt, finally kindly asked Wednesday to bring her her favorite food. And Wednesday did it with great pleasure, because that kiss - or rather those kisses - had made her almost blush. And because they only made her want to keep kissing her until she got to who knows what else. She knew it well, actually, but she wouldn't have admitted it out loud.
2.
Enid was not a person who gave up easily. She was more sure than ever that the next time would be the right one. The definitive one. So she didn't let herself fall into complete disappointment; because the next evening she decided to implement point number two.
As usual, Enid was sitting on the bed - this time Wednesday's - waiting for her. Her feet moved continuously without respite, her hands tapped anxiously on the soft mattress and sometimes she allowed herself to snort out of impatience.
She checked the time over and over again on her phone's clock when Wednesday finally appeared with a book in her hand. It looked like an old book to see the yellowish and ruined pages. But this didn’t interest Enid because she had only one goal that she hoped to complete that same evening.
The evening proceeded quietly: outside it was completely dark with the rain hitting the window glass fiercely, the light of the skull-shaped lamp on Wednesday's bedside table brightly illuminated the part of Wednesday's room and Enid was ready at the moment of evening cuddles. Already ready under the covers, she turned a curious look towards her girlfriend who was about to redo her braids before going to bed.
— Wednesday — called the hopeful she-wolf.
— What? — she replied in a passive tone.
— If you want, I can do your braids tonight.
Wednesday's heart began to beat fast at the sound of those words. She widened her eyes from the unexpected offer but turned to Enid showing instead a confused but curious look.
— I'm good at braiding — she insisted.
— Maybe another time, Enid.
— Why don't you ever leave them loose? You look good with your hair down — she continued.
— Because I don’t want to.
— That's not a real answer, Willa.
— And you stop calling me that. Sounds ridiculous — Wednesday replied while loosening the long braids.
— I'll do it if for tonight you keep your hair down and let me cuddle you — she said.
She wouldn't have given up easily. Wednesday's behavior didn't surprise her at all; she had always been stubborn after all. Strangely, Wednesday gave in to that request and so, after also loosening the second braid and brushing her hair, she approached the bed to get under the blankets next to Enid ready to cuddle her.
And all this for a stupid nickname that was actually not so bad. But she was too stubborn to let go of her grip, so now she found herself under the blankets with Enid Sinclair who brought her closer and closer to her.
Wednesday got used to that physical contact so much that she needed more: she put her head on Enid's chest wrapping her arms around her body to keep her tight. Enid, on the other hand, simply held her around her as if she wanted to protect her from an invisible enemy. Only at the end did she decided to try again with the rest of point two. So she moved her hand from Wednesday's arm to her hair caressing it gently and gently.
She really hoped this would work, yet Wednesday turned to look her in the eyes before uttering a word.
— What are you doing?
— I already told you. I'm cuddling you, Wednesday — said the blonde with colored hair. — But if you don't want to...
— No. Continue.
Said the seer before resting her head on herchest. And she had to admit that she was happy for once: under the blankets with Enid showing her her immense affection was right where she wanted to be.
But it wasn't enough to make her blush, because this gesture only served to make her relax. And even if Enid was surprised that Wednesday had let herself go that way, she still hadn't completed her goal.
Not even this time.
She had failed again.
3.
She was almost giving up when it occurred to her that she had three more points to prove. She absolutely couldn't give up. Now it was a matter of stubbornness and personal pride. Precisely for this reason she decided, the next day, to try again. Point three could very well lead to a murder. Hers. It was rather exaggerated for Wednesday's tastes or at least that was the impression it gave her. Somehow Wednesday had accepted the hand holding, the hugs and the kisses and even stroking her hair had not led to her murder.
A kiss on the neck wasn't so different, right?
Or maybe yes. But at least, perhaps, it would have led to the achievement of her goal. If Wednesday hadn't reacted that way either, she wasn't so sure that the remaining two points could work.
She waited for Wednesday with high shoulders and arms crossed as if to show seriousness for one of the few times in her life. Yet when Wednesday came in she almost lost her composure when she saw her true seriousness. Because Wednesday always was. While she was always the least serious one, the one who liked to joke and who loved to have fun making jokes that didn't make anyone laugh.
— What's up, Enid?
— Nothing — she forced herself to remain serious. — Why do you ask?
— Because you're never serious and judging by how you're sitting with your arms crossed you are. So, what's going on — repeated the gothic approaching.
— Nothing, seriously.
— Enid.
— All right, all right — she raised her arms in surrender. — Come a little closer.
Wednesday did as requested. She thought she needed a hug or to tell her something serious but she actually aimed at her lips first with her eyes, then claiming them with hers. She certainly wouldn't have complained, but what was certain is that she started thinking about that strange behavior in the last few days.
Enid was in charge of the situation; she was the one who dictated the rhythm and Wednesday gladly followed it. It was a passionate kiss, overwhelming enough to catch Wednesday by surprise again. The intensity of that moment made her resurface the memory of the kiss from two nights before. A dangerous hypothesis began to form in Wednesday's head of what could be the reason for those intense kisses.
But she didn't even have time to utter a word when she felt Enid's lips detach from her and rest on her neck. She couldn't help but get physically involved in that gesture and without realizing it a sound never made before came out of her throat. Enid continued to kiss her right at that exact point making Wednesday gasp, before pulling away to watch her reaction.
But Wednesday wasn't blushing. Only she had let herself be carried away by the moment and from her gaze there was only the desire to continue what Enid had just started. But when she saw Enid's almost disappointed look, she totally changed the thought in her head.
— Hey. Tell me what is going on Enid — she asked seriously.
— Nothing, I'm serious — replied the wolf pretending to giggle.
— Enid, I thought you... — she stopped in the middle of the sentence.
—Me…what? — Enid now intrigued by what she had to say.
— I thought you wanted to go beyond judging by your attitude in the last few days.
— WHAT?
— It doesn't matter. Forget what I said — said the gothic fleeing from the surprised and agitated look of the blonde.
If there was one thing that Enid hadn't calculated, it was just that. She didn't think her behavior could allude to that. Nor did she imagine that Wednesday, regardless, could ever think of such a thing. Because it simply wasn't like Wednesday Addams to have certain thoughts. But what was true was that by now Wednesday had changed a lot of things about herself. Because if she had managed to fall in love with someone, how could she have avoided feeling something else?
How could she have avoided wanting to go further when she wasn't in charge of her body's reaction? If Wednesday had acted like she was doing lately, she wouldn't have had ideas so different from those of her girlfriend, after all.
But that didn't stop her. She felt slightly guilty but for the first time after two days of failed attempts she felt that she was close. Close to the fulfillment of her goal.
4.
It was probably a risky move but she wouldn't have given up on the fourth point. After days she finally took her diary from inside the drawer to cross out the failures of the past days by passing the pen on the points creating a line on each point -all rather crooked lines, on the other hand-.
In addition, she eliminated point number five. How could she even think that a longer kiss could make her blush if the last time only made her think of something else? So she also drew a line on point five writing next to it "point five: wear something of her own." Last minute idea, but maybe it could have worked.
She was so focused on staring at that list that she didn't realize the presence of Wednesday staring at her with the usual penetrating gaze. They still hadn't talked about what had happened the night before, and maybe that was fine. Enid was still lying on the bed with music in her headphones and the diary open.
Luckily, and only luck, she was able to notice the figure of Wednesday behind her as soon as she approached and managed to close the diary before she realized what was written on it. She got rid of her headphones by stopping Taylor Swift immediately to give her all the attention in the world.
— Wednesday! — she jumped out of bed to hug her but loosened the hug immediately after. — I didn't hear you coming.
— Oh don’t say — ironized the gothic who turned her gaze behind Enid focusing her attention on the diary. — What were you doing?
— Nothing! — the she-wolf replied quickly.
— It's not true. I saw you writing something, and you were quite focused.
— Nah, you're wrong... I read nonsense things that I wrote years ago in that diary — she pretended to snort out of boredom. — What did you do today? Buried a grave or something like that?
— No. But I would have liked it so much — said the gothic with an emotional look, which consisted only of widening her eyes and sketching a half smile.
That was the perfect time to implement point number four.
— You know Wednesday, you're very pretty when you get excited like this. Your eyes light up with emotion and a half smile forms on your lips — she said proud of her words.
Wednesday, amazed by that compliment, approached Enid placing a hand on her cheek to give her a short kiss on the lips. When she let go she was the first to speak.
— You're the pretty one. Not me.
And she said it so calmly that immediately after she put her lips on hers again before heading towards the bathroom leaving Enid open-mouthed. It wasn't Wednesday who blushed, but Enid herself. This is because Wednesday hated compliments, and used them with her instead.
This goal had officially become the most difficult.
More
than
she
expected.
But she wouldn't give up. There was still the last point and that, that would have worked for sure. Otherwise she would have freaked out and given up for good.
5.
The next day Enid had clear ideas, yet she had to talk about it with Yoko. Not that she could give her who knows what advice but she could at least vent to someone about everything that had happened in the last four days. So, that morning she ran to the Nevermore courtyard where she was sure to find her friend. Actually, Yoko was right there. But she wasn't alone.
— Yoko! — called Enid interrupting her precious moment with Divina.
— Enid? If it's not so urgent, come back later — said the vampire with a look to point to the person next to her, who was kissing passionately before she interrupted them.
— It's more than urgent! — said the desperate wolf. — Please!
— Ugh, it's okay Sinclair. Tell me everything.
— Sorry — Enid turned her gaze to Divina. — In private.
Divina snorting withdrew with her group of friends leaving the two friends alone. Enid sat next to Yoko in despair.
— You know I like to put Wednesday to test, so I set myself the most difficult thing in the world as a goal apparently.
— Oh. My. God. Enid Sinclair wants to have sex with Wednesday Addams? — she opened her mouth in amazement. — Damn Enid I didn't think...
— WHAT? Why do you all think I want to do this! — Enid was agitated. — I just want to make her blush! It's not that difficult what I'm asking!
— Do you want to make Wednesday Addams blush? Damn girl, actually it's easier to do...
— God, please don't say that. It's embarrassing! And she thought so too, anyway — she put her hands on her head. — But today I have to win. Today I'll try one last time and I have to make it.
— If you're convinced. What would be your idea, Nid?
— I'll wear one of her shirts. And I could either be threatened or killed, or be rewarded with her redness on her cheeks. I sincerely hope for the last option.
— You seem pretty convinced. I hope to see you alive tomorrow — Yoko replied a little worried. — But I actually don't think Wednesday Addams would be able to hurt you, Nid. You could do anything and she would forgive you.
— This makes me feel much better, thanks Yoko! — Enid got up to head heading as usual towards their dormitory.
Wednesday obviously wasn't present at that time. She never was and Enid knew it well. She closed the door behind her before heading towards Wednesday's closet: she chose a simple all-black T-shirt that had Wednesday's scent glued to the fabric. That perfume that she loved so much and that just by smelling it reminded her of her gothic girlfriend.
She got rid of her uniform wearing a pair of pink shorts and Wednesday's t-shirt that was slightly small for her. But it was still perfect, because it was her shirt. She waited impatiently for Wednesday and in the meantime she did nothing but smell the perfume she loved so much in the air.
Definitely, the scent intensified when Wednesday entered the room and she was petrified when she saw Enid with her shirt on. She quickly closed the door behind her incredulous at what she was seeing. No one, no one would wear her clothes. But Enid had just done it. She didn't make her angry, because it was Enid. But it only intrigued her.
If it wasn't because she didn't want to make love with her then what was the reason for that behavior?
— Enid, what are you doing? — she asked pointing to her shirt.
— Oh, nothing. I just wanted to smell your perfume so I thought I'd wear something of yours. Looks good on me,right? — the wolf said hoping it's the right time.
—Yes, I suppose so.
— Suppose? Be objective, Wednesday. I know it had a certain effect on you to see me wearing something of yours! — Enid insisted.
— I don't know what you're talking about...
— All right — Enid lowered her head disappointed.
Enid gave up. She didn't think she would ever give up and yet there she was with no more ideas to make Wednesday blush. In any case, something had gained. Because after all those days she had discovered that Wednesday liked intense kisses, kisses on the neck and above all she had no problem going further.
And she had discovered everything unintentionally.
— If you want I can give you back the shirt.
— No. In fact, I'll be the one to wear something of yours now — Wednesday replied with conviction. — But I'll choose what.
— You took the allergy pill, right?
— Of course, Enid. How do you want me to survive your proximity? — she replied while choosing something from her closet.
In the end, she too opted for the simplest choice: she had taken a simple pink t-shirt with a small white heart at the top left. Almost romantic.
Enid chuckled anxious to see Wednesday with her shirt on. After all, it wasn't important that Wednesday didn't blush. Because everything else was important.
Wednesday changed quickly in the bathroom and then came back with the shirt on: it was a little bigger but this drove Enid crazy who ran to hug her.
— Just for tonight — Wednesday reiterated.
— Just for tonight.
Enid replied before kissing her on the lips gently, slowly. Wednesday kept kissing her without increasing the pace, because the tension between them was always present. And above all, it was always Enid who decided. And unexpectedly she began to give Wednesday very short kisses on the lips before gently kissing the edge of her lips, then her chin, then her right cheek. She continued kissing the tip of her nose, the other cheek and the edge of her lips again.
Wednesday blushed this time: she felt the heat and touch of Enid's lips all over her face and this was the sweetest thing Enid had ever done. More than stroking her hair or offering to redo her braids. This was such a tender gesture, too much to tell the truth, for the tastes of Wednesday Addams that made her blush without realizing it.
But oh, Enid noticed. She had just seen how Wednesday's face turned exaggeratedly red, making a few small freckles appear on her nose.
— Oh my God! — Enid exclaimed.
— What?
— I just made you blush!
— No, it's not true — the gothic replied quickly.
— Yes, instead! I did it! — she said jumping all over the room. — It was harder than expected. I had actually given up, you know.
— Your goal was to make me blush?
— Oh yes! Five. Damn. Days. — confessed Enid approaching Wednesday again.
— Don't tell Yoko that it happened.
— Oh, I'll do it instead Willa!
— You promised not to call me that anymore — Wednesday pretended to be annoyed.
— I know you actually like it when I call you that — she continued, getting closer and closer.
Their eyes met: Wednesday's eyes observed Enid's blue eyes, while Enid observed inside hers. If people thought that Wednesday's eyes didn't communicate anything, they were very wrong. Because she read so many things in those eyes.
And at that moment her eyes only said...
— Kiss me.
Wednesday said. Enid didn't let herself repeat it twice and threw herself on those soft lips that she loved to kiss. Or bite, after the last experience.
That kiss wasn't just a kiss. It came beyond; where only two bodies merge with each other.
