If I Could Save Time in a Bottle

Summary:

Many wouldn't believe you if you told them that Wednesday had a girlfriend, they'd call you crazy if you said she had multiple. Yet the students at Nevermore have long since gotten used to seeing Wednesday Addams walking alongside a very colorful werewolf and a rather fashionable vampire.

aka, Wednesday has two hands for a reason. Three views on the soft relationship, and one time they were seen from an outside source.

Work Text:

If I could save time in a bottle

The first thing that I’d like to do

Is to save every day ‘til eternity passes away

Just to spend them with you

It wasn’t rare for Wednesday to enter her dorm and see Enid having a nail session with Thing or gossip session over the phone with Yoko. It was rare however, to see Enid and Yoko passed out together on Wednesday’s bed in the middle of the day, looking as if both were knocked out by a WWE wrestler. So, naturally, she silently steps over to the bed and gives a silent check over of her girlfriends. Just to see if anything was physically noticeable to be wrong. No bruising…no cuts or scrapes…no inflammation…no signs of distressed sleeping. Just their peaceful faces, Enid curled up against Yoko, her head on the latter’s chest. Their legs intertwined and the blanket half off the two.

Wednesday gives a small nod, deeming the situation alright before simply adjusting the blanket and stepping over to her desk…might as well take advantage of the silence to write. It is only a matter of time before one of the two wakes up. Especially with their supernatural senses.

Yoko woke up to the sound of that typewriter, shifting slightly and noticing the lack of feeling she has in her arm, glancing to the side and seeing Enid still curled against her chest. She let out a breath and just tilted her head to press a kiss to the top of the werewolf’s head. Shifting her gaze to the source of the typewriter clicks... a particularly focused Wednesday Addams. Sitting ramrod straight in that wooden chair eyes trained on the paper as she writes her next chapter. Those nimble hands pressing with just enough force to set the letter on paper before immediately moving to the next. Yoko knew Wednesday wouldn’t join the nap, but she knew that Wednesday was keeping an eye on them…it is hard to miss that monotone voice holding that edge of softness.

Go back to sleep, mi vida

Enid knew her roommate turned girlfriend very well. She and Yoko were one of the few that knew, well had confirmed for them, that Wednesday was autistic. The morbid girl was decently good at hiding it, but those that pay attention got assumptions. The hatred for loud noises, avoidance of certain textures, avoiding crowds like the plague and not just to avoid visions either. Things add up, but Enid and Yoko were one of the few that had confirmation that she was indeed autistic.

Enid didn’t mind, it didn’t make her love the girl any less, rather it just made her more mindful of what she wears, how loud she gets, and when it is time to give touch or not. Today seemed to be like one of those days, where everything is too loud and you can feel the seams of your clothes a bit better than usual. Those days where it feels like everything is just too much and too little at the same time. Enid could see it on Wednesday’s face, where she clenches her jaw a bit stronger than usual, how she glares daggers sharper than usual. How she sticks near Yoko and her more often just because she knows they’d tell others to back off in a more…sociably acceptable way.

So when Enid couldn’t find Wednesday after classes ended, she got a little worried. She knows the Addams heir could protect herself but sometimes Wednesday needs care too. Enid did what she felt was right… and went to find Yoko, if Wednesday wasn’t near her, not in the dorm, and overall impossible to find, she can at least try to get a hint from Yoko to see if she had seen anything. Although when entering Yoko and Bianca’s dorm...she hadn’t expected to see Wednesday being absolutely dwarfed by one of Yoko’s hoodies, laying on the furthest side of Yoko’s bed, curtains drawn and the vampire sitting at the foot of her own bed, talking about the newest vampire shades that were dropped from her favorite brand.

“Adjustable tint lenses, how those haven’t been added to shades for vampires before now is beyond me.”

Yoko saw Enid and just silently motioned for her to join the session. So Enid did, she stepped into the room, shut the door, and settled by the head of the bed, so that Wednesday didn’t feel crowded but still had both girlfriends close.

So what was this about adjustable tint, baby?

Yoko has seen many things in her time as a vampire, from toxic relationships to vampires getting too greedy for blood and costing themselves. Something she will never tire of seeing is how well Enid and Wednesday work together. Not even just for day to day tasks, but just in general, how fluidly they work as a pair. The two girls are total opposites yet they don’t break each other down (not seriously at least), they don’t discourage each other’s hobbies, they just..are. They work like a well-oiled machine, fluent but not grinding each other down.

Which is how she found herself out with them down in Jericho, Enid had wanted to try out the new clothing store that went up and Wednesday agreed as long as they could visit Uriah’s Heap afterwards. Yoko just went along to spend time with her girlfriends, she doesn’t mind the shopping but she didn’t have her eyes set on anything in particular. With her girls, everything is a balance, some of this in return for that, and this time is certainly no different. A temporary pause in shopping, sitting at a booth in the Weathervane, now actually decent with Tyler not being around.

Yoko was sitting across from Enid and Wednesday, Thing was likely off doing his own shopping since they haven’t seen him since the beginning. Light conversation was passing between the girls, Wednesday with her quad over ice, Enid with her sugary drink that could vaguely be considered coffee at this point, and Yoko with a simple vanilla caramel latte. A mix of earthy coffee with sugary sweetness. Enid was going on about the latest gossip she got notified of, and Wednesday was just silently listening, subconsciously rubbing her thumb along the back of Yoko’s hand.

Yoko didn’t stop the touch, didn’t point it out at all, instead she merely continued talking to Enid. The conversation flows as easily as water. Filled with the occasional soft touch from Wednesday, something only those who she really cares for, get.

As the three get their bags and leave the Weathervane after their break, they began walking the streets of Jericho once more, just to see if anything catches their interest...and once again Yoko sees just how well her girlfriends work, Enid keeping conversation going.

“OMG do you think they would have earbuds there? I need a new pair!”

“Yoko! That looks good on you! What do you think, Wends?”

“Wednesday, isn’t this where you got that new knife or was that in Uriah’s as well?”

Followed by Wednesday’s silent but thoughtful gestures. Her holding the doors open for Yoko and Enid, her holding bags when she thinks their hands are getting tired, her standing closer to the road than the two of them so that she could keep them safer. Such small details but things Yoko sees clear as day, and when they finally got done and headed to Nevermore? Yoko made sure to press a lingering kiss on Wednesday’s lips, just to ensure she knew Yoko saw it all, and another lingering kiss to Enid’s lips as well.

Thank you, my raven

Sleep well, pup

Many wouldn't believe you if you told them that Wednesday had a girlfriend, they'd call you crazy if you said she had multiple. Yet the students at Nevermore have long since gotten used to seeing Wednesday Addams walking alongside a very colorful werewolf and a rather fashionable vampire.

They say good things come in threes, and this is very much the case. The trio were as thick as thieves and even more dangerous when pissed off. Messing with one is messing with all of them. If you upset one of them, within the next 10 minutes, the other two will be aware and after you like a predator hunting prey.

So as is routine, they were at the lunch table in the quad with their friends (Wednesday would rather die than claim them publically but everyone knows). Wednesday didn’t question where Pugsley was or why Eugene is taking his lunch with the bees instead, instead she was much more focused on how at ease Yoko and Enid were.

Thing keeps a watchful eye on them all, the disembodied hand did enjoy being able to sit on the gargoyles around Nevermore. He can see all sorts of things, from Principal Weems limping around with her cane as she checks on her students, to Pugsley wiring an explosive in his dorm that he no doubt will toss into the lake later. Right now though, he was keeping an eye on three of his favorite people…Wednesday Addams, Enid Sinclair, and Yoko Tanaka.

He has watched them come together, like moths to a flame or like leeches to blood, whichever you prefer. Now though? Now he gets to see them thrive together. He is quite happy, and based on their smiles on their faces, how Wednesday sits a little less stiff, how Enid leans into her girls’ forms, how Yoko beams underneath her sunglasses? Thing thinks they are quite happy too.

Notes:

I hope you all enjoyed! I had a great time writing this one. I tried to base Wednesday's experiences with autism on my own, so I hope it came through well.
