Chapter Text
(Superfish POV)
Superfish sat on the edge of his bed staring at the duck he had on his nightstand. The same one that changed his world. He swept it up in both hands and just stared at it blankly as it sat in the middle of both of his palms.
He had just gotten back from taking DJ home after getting the 3 mushrooms for the potion fighting them off. Which was much harder than either of them expected.
While his stare was blank his mind was racing. DJ’s words from the other day replaying in his head...
'What do you think of my friends, what do you think of me?'
What did he think of DJ?
He knew the past few days however he felt for the boy had taken a weird turn. Some things have always been there; like the weird sensation in his chest, he'd get whenever the human would compliment him. But then the other day, when DJ was showing him how to skip a rock... His hand on his waist and his wrist. His breath on his neck. His heart racing more than it ever had, him frozen in place even a little after DJ moved.
What did that mean??? Why hasn't he ever felt that before?? Why did it feel good...?
He put the duck back down on his nightstand and laid on his back, his legs still dangling off his bed. He did know one thing; around DJ he felt pretty weak for the 'strongest witch that ever lived.'
DJ was so intimidating to him, but he was never exactly scared of him. But he just assumed that was something to do with the core. Despite that he'd probably do anything DJ asked even if he didn't have to.
He never thought he'd get this attached to anyone, especially not a human. Superfish had always been a very charming individual, I mean it just came to him naturally. But with DJ he actually cared about how DJ would react to his actions. Unlike the girls who would flock around him at the school. He'd go as far as to say he wished DJ were like them. His eyes went wide and his face went hot as the realization dawned on him.
He wanted DJ to want him, he wanted DJ.
This wasn't just about the core anymore...
Everything just came naturally to him when he was with the human, he felt like he could talk to him about anything. He was comfortable around him in a way he's never felt around anyone, ever. DJ might just be the best thing that's ever happened to him.
Superfish hasn't ever thought about romance before really, in Obscaria it wasn't that big of a deal seeing as people were sent off to train at an early age and couldn't really decide their own lives. Superfish was different of course, but he still wasn't used to having all those freedoms and wasn't completely sure what to do with them. But he did know he had to do something about this, he had to do something about his feelings for DJ.
And so he left.
