Summary
Dr. Bolton takes Charlotte’s hand in his, gently stroking the back, the motion almost intimate. His hands are warm and callused, the fingers long and graceful, like a pianist’s hands. She’s surprised at the way her breathing hitches, just a little, at his touch.
“You need some soft guidance,” he says. “A little subconscious suggestion, if you will.”
“S-subconscious suggestion?”
“Yes. Lose those inhibitions; open yourself up for more possibilities. Feel more confident.” He smiles, and those lips, so thin and sculpted, curve up to perfection. Even the dimples that form seem carved in marble. Charlotte cannot look away. “I’m talking hypnosis.”
