Chapter Text
During 1990, Delilah had finally found the recipe for ichor. A substance that was both a solid and a liquid at the same time, it helped make the toons real.
At the same time, Gardenview was transformed into a workplace and a few floors managed to get set up for both toons and guests to use equally, allowing Delilah to have a proper work space.
Her first experiment was none other than Dandicus Dandifer, the star of the show and the one who looked up to Delilah the most.

Dandy woke up for the first time. He blinked and began to look around, then he noticed the brown haired woman with red glasses studying him and taking notes, at the sight of her, Dandy smiled.
“Hello, Dandicus Dandifer. I am Delilah, I'm just here to check up on you and see how you were doing. Are you doing okay?”
She asked. Dandy tried to respond, but he felt his chest tighten, the air in his lungs wouldn't get in or out, he was barely breathing and his head spun around as he collapsed onto the floor.
“Shit- Dandy!”
She called out as she tried to help him breathe better. She gave him an inhaler, thinking quickly but not logically.
“Here, have this.”
Dandy took a deep breath in with the inhaler as he let out a few coughs but was breathing much better now.
“Better now?”
She asked, Dandy nodded.
“Good.”
Delilah responded before writing something down.
“You can go ahead and explore the place, get a look at your new home.”
And that was what Dandy did. He explored his new home. It was big, it was magnificent, and it was lovely.
When he got to the lobby, he noticed that there was a large spot in the middle of the lobby. He blinked, and stared at it. It was just a small patch of grass and it felt… bare. It would look much nicer if there was a tree there.
When Dandy continued walking around, he ran into Arthur who seemed surprised.
“Oh! Delilah did not tell me that she was already at work, how are you doing little guy?”
Dandy smiled with his petals spinning.
“I'm doing particularly Dandy wonderful sir!”
His voice was cheerful and bright, exactly like in the show, and Arthur could not help but think that his crazy vision was just made real and that it was the best thing he could ever ask for.
Arthur looked up at the middle of the lobby and noticed the bare space.
“I noticed you staring at that for some time. Were you thinking about something pal?”
Dandy nodded.
“I was just thinking about how nice it would be to have a tree in the middle.”
Dandy responded.
Arthur looked ahead at the tree and nodded thoughtfully.
“I'll see what I can do about that later, right now though, we still have some work ahead of us don't you think?”
Dandy nodded as he watched Arthur go, a pang of loneliness hitting him as he looked at all of the signs of cardboard cut outs of his friends and pet rock, this massive and grand place started to loose it novelty and began to feel hollow for Dandy.
There wasn't any other toon like him to fill this place and give him company while Delilah and Arthur grew busy. And as much as he tried not to let that bother him, it was most certainly bothering him. He could not shake off the discomfort of being alone.
