Chapter Text
"Your insane!" Piper yelled. "I'm not choosing anything for you."
Percy watched Jason gasp and sat up straight in his saddle, a cold feeling overwhelming him.
He was hit by a sense of Deja vu. A sense of fermilurality. It took him a second to realise how similar the presence felt to Kronos's.
"Jason! What's wrong...? Piper asked. "Percy help!"
Percy vision went gold and his body moved against his will, steering blackjack away.
Fuck.
Fuck.
He's going to kill Jason, he realises. His worst nightmare. Killing his friends. He might not know him very long but ever since Michale Yew on the bridge…
Ever since Mount St. Helens really, Percy has known he was too powerful for his own good. He was going to kill another one of his friends and their was nothing he could do but watch.
He already felt what it wanted.
This is what happened to Leo, he realised.
Percy galloped away, turning and raising his sword at Jason.
Don’t listen to me Blackjack, he thinks.
"One will die." He said, in a voice that was not his own. Turning to look at Luke Jason he felt ill. Shit, this is how he felt before he died...
"I will choose." Jason said in that same voice.
"No!" Piper screamed.
The fight was a blur, and not in a 'it happened so fast I barely remember it' way. More in a barley conscious way.
He mentally wrestled whatever had latched itself onto his brain.
He had been charging at Jason, ready to run him through with riptide when he gained a millisecond of control. He turned his blade, last second, sending Jason flying off the horse.
He did his best not to think of what fighting techniques he should use or how he should create a hurricane cause whatever’s in his head could probably hear his thoughts.
Then his vision goes gold again and he's just a spectator.
The next thing he knows his vision goes white and everything's on fire. Ah that familiar feeling of beeing hit by lightning. It honestly hurt more when Thalia did it.
He lays their despite his consciousness as he hears Piper arguing with Jason's host. He can hear the magic thick in her voice. He wasn’t really sure what it was but he remembered Annabeth mention to him to be careful with Aphrodite children because they ‘have a way with words’. He’d never felt it so strong before now. If he had a weapon in his hand he'd probably have dropped it.
It lets Jason get close to him, noticing his low guard and easily sweeps his feet, slamming his head into the ground. If Percy was in control he would have winced. He struggles desperately not to reach for Riptide, not drive it through his heart.
“He must die.” Jason says and with one swift motion it sweeps out Percy’s leg and knocks Jason off his feet.
Jason’s head hit the tarmac with a nauseating conk.
Percy can hear Piper's desperate pleas but theirs no magic in her voice.
He raises riptide over Jason’s chest.
“Eidolon, stop.” Piper said and he froze in spot. He would’ve almost stopped breathing. “Face me.” Piper says.
He turns slowly.
“You have not chosen.” It said. “So this one will die.”
Please Piper. Stop him.
“You’re a spirit from the underworld. You possessing Percy Jackson. Is that it?” She asks, calmly.
It sneers. “I will live again in this body. The Earth Mother has promised. I will go wherever I please, control whom i wish.” He can feel it fighting her magic and despite his instincts telling him to as well he does his best to give in. He had to trust Piper has a plan.
“Leo . . . that’s what happened to Leo. He was controlled by an eidolon.”
It laughed through Percy. A horrifying sound, really. “Too late you realise. You can trust no one.”
Jason isn’t moving. But no, he can’t remind it of him. Keep it distracted Piper, please.
Percy hears a rustling and turns his head on instinct. Or maybe it does. It’s hard to tell.
“Ignore it!” Piper yells and suddenly Percy can’t remember why he’d turned. “Look at me.”
“You cannot stop me. I will kill Jason Grace.”
Percy feels a tug in his gut. Fuck. They were no where near a sea so that either ment hurricane or earthquake. If Jason was awake he could maybe- maybe -control a hurricane but with him unconscious Piper and Jason were fucked. He fought with every ounce of his will to stop the thing from using his powers. Piper was saying something. The eidolon responded. Percy ignored them.
He heard something shuffle behind him
Ignore it. He thought. Piper has a plan.
He could feel it was confused. “Oh sorry,” Piper said. “I wasn’t talking to you.”
Then Percy felt a sharp pain in the back of his head and his knees buckled. He saw the tarmac rushing up to meet him and everything went dark.
