Sophie took a deep breath as she walked into the shop. The smell of new leather hung in the air just as it always did. It was one of the things that had her making special trips to the same shop after so many years. Second only to the fact the artisans made things that lasted, even through everything that she did.
The same old man as always stood behind the counter, more lines on his face than the last time she had been there. Yet he greeted her just as he always did, without her name.
She had never given it to him and he had never asked it of her either. He just learned her tastes in purses and belts and all other manners of accessories that the artisans made, keeping things he thought she would like set aside for her, even through the months between her visits.
It was the same as always, he pulled out a small selection of bags and even a pair of gloves, which she hadn't seen from him in a while. They were all as wonderful as always.
Which meant she walked out will all of them and a simple black briefcase.
