Work Text:
Joe hopped off of Delilah, and strolled into the small postal set up. She attached Delilah to the post outside, designed for pony express riders like herself. The wind rustled, a gentle movement that mussed her hair beneath her hat, which she tipped as she entered the office.
“Joe!”
“Austin!” Joe breathed out a sigh of relief, taking her hat off, letting her hair flow down to her back, and smiling broadly.
“It’s good to see you,” Austin came around the counter, and grabbed Joe’s mail bag, “How was Sacramento?”
Joe launched into a tale of horses, gangsters, and 2 week long travels, most of which Austin was pretty sure was falsified. It made her giggle, which was Joe’s intent, anyway.
