Work Text:
Romeo rode out, almost unrecognisable in her armour, not an inch of skin showing, but Morrigan would know her anywhere. She had certain advantages, of course, for she had watched her don that same armour and knew her horse. She thought she would have recognised her anyway, though, from the way she held herself, the minute shifts as she adjusted her balance, and the way she held her lance.
She knew how much it meant to Romeo, to be able to compete in something like this. To joust like she had never been barred from the Proving Ground. Up here, no-one knew where Romeo had come from unless she chose to tell them. This place was far from perfect, but Morrigan had seen Romeo’s former home, and she could not begrudge her her sense of freedom. Here, she could ride out as herself, armed and armoured, and hear the cheers.
