Chapter Text
Darkness. That was the first thing Helios remembered. But it also wasn’t dark, there was light too, from stars who’s name he doesn’t remember. He remembers an explosion and being in the crossfire. Then, it really was dark. He didn’t like the darkness, it was scary.
And he had no friends, he tried to move closer to a star that was nearby, but he had destroyed some rocks forming when he attempted to. That was the moment he decided he would stay put, no matter what. He would not move, he would not kill another planet.
But it was cold, and dark, and silent. All he could do was sleep. He was tired, it was dark, and there was no sound, he simply found himself… drifting off to sleep.
But when he awoke, is the day everything changed. A light and pull woke him up, and when he opened his eyes, he saw what it was. A small planet, tiny that, compared to him, was a baby. It was a planet. His planet, his first planet, his baby. He slowly found himself picking up the planet, trying his best not to startle it.
The small planet opened his eyes, looking around for a quick second before he jumped, clinging onto Helios.
“...who…am I?..” The small planet asked, which made tears form in Helios’s eyes. This was his baby, and his baby was scared.
“You’re a planet.” Helios simply said, sitting down with the planet in his arms. “Made from the stuff I am. You’re my first planet ever!” He said. He was excited, truly. It was his first ever planet, he wasn’t alone anymore.
“Oh…sorry-” The planet said quickly, hiding his face in the Sun’s arms. His heart warmed,
“Don’t be!- Y-you could even be a star like me- you’re formed from the same stuff-” He said with a smile, brushing his baby’s hair out of his face. The planet moved his head ever so slightly, just enough to look at the star.
“...But I’m too little, and you’re big..” The planet murmured. Helios paused, as he processes the planet’s words. His baby was smart, that was what he came to realize. He smiled and put the small planet down.
“And that’s okay!- You don’t have to be a star, you’re my first planet ever..” Helios said with a smile, but paused as the small planet was looking around nervously.
“..It looks scary out there…” The small planet said, which startled Helios.
No one else was afraid of the dark, from what he knew. He found himself getting more and more fond of his new baby. He smiled as he looked up, feeling the weight of being alone leave.
“That’s fine. When you get scared of the dark just… look at me!” He said with a smile, seeing his baby relax.
“Then…what do you look at when you’re scared?” He asked, looking down slightly like a nervous child, well…he was a nervous child.
However, the question surprised Helios. He had always been afraid, that was a fact. He had been afraid of the dark too, he was probably still scared of other things. He now realized, he would be afraid of being alone for another thousands of years.
But he didn’t want to worry his new baby. He wanted to make his baby feel safe, he wanted to protect his baby from anything. He thought for a few more seconds before he opened his mouth to say something, somewhat hesitant.
“..Don’t worry. I’m the sun, I’ll be okay.” He simply stated. He tried to sound confident, and it seemed it worked. His baby smiled, and hugged him.
It would not be until later where he would truly worry about his baby, Zeus.
