"Klav? Klavier? Klavier!"
Dammit, how does one even sleep on a desk? Apollo sighed, deciding that Klavier was not going to get up. God apparently gave him the power to fall asleep anywhere, anytime, so it wasn't out of the ordinary he was sleeping now. What was out of the ordinary was that Klavier is a light sleeper—to the point he once woke up by Apollo's neighbours fighting, from five floors away—but he sure ass hell wasn't waking up now.
Eh, atleast he was glad Klavier was finally resting.
Klavier had finished his last case about an hour ago, and he probably would refuse to finish his shift early and go sleep at home if Apollo did wake him up, so he decided that it was unnecessary to do so. He only really had about twenty minutes left of his shift anyways.
But, Apollo couldn't say his boyfriend sleeping on his desk wasn't concerning him at all, considering that it was, again, a desk. He even wished the couch-chair—as Apollo had named it—was still there. Klavier had gotten rid of it with most of the other furniture. He had changed the entirety of his office layout a few months ago, which ment the couch-chair was long gone. Half of the guitars he was so proud of and showcased were now at his apartment, his excuse being that he just simply needed some of them in his apartment.
The same thing had happened not only with a lot of stuff in the office. He had gotten rid of a lot of furniture and clutter in his apartment aswell. And while he still wished Klavier could sleep in a better place, sleeping on a desk was much better than not sleeping at all, right?
And change wasn't necessarily a bad thing, especially with Klavier. He knew that whatever Klavier changed in his life was to make his life and problems more bearable each day. He could deal with Klacier straining his back if it ment he was content and happy in the spaces he spent time in. He was working to be happier, and Apollo couldn't lie and say he didn't feel a rise of happiness and a feeling of being proud whenever he saw that.
And more importantly, he trusted that Klavier would change things that reminded him of the things he tried to not remember, and talk to Apollo if he had a hard time changing something that hurt him. Even in small ways.
Apollo's train of thought got interrupted as he finally noticed how cold the room was. He turned around to see that Klavier had turned the AC down in his room, as if the rest of the Prosecutors Office wasn't already cold enough. He glared at the AC like it was it's fault that Klavier liked the cold, then turned the stupid thing off.
Apollo just knew Klavier will run hell on him when he found out that Apollo had ruined his own DIY Antarctic, but it was certainly better than dealing with Klavier's agent. She already had warned him to take care of her lead singer, with the promise of taking his head if he didn't. Klavier could be scary if he wanted, but she was terrifying, even when she didn't want to be.
Not to mention the glare Prosecutor Edgeworth gave him whenever he thought Klavier was not looking—Klavier had already noticed, but said to not worry about it—that left a chill down Apollo's spine every time.
At this point, Nahyuta was going to call him all the way from Khura'in to threaten him. He didn't even know Klavier like that, man...
And Klavier being sick ment Miss Serena would be losing her precious vocal cords, Prosecutor Edgeworth losing his favorite prosecutor, and Apollo possibly losing his head.
Also, Apollo knew Klavier would insist on working if he did infact got sick. Not only that, he probably would do more work than he usually did just to show Apollo that he was in the wrong for having the nerve to think a small illness could take him down.
And let's just say Apollo really didn't want to have to literally lock Klavier inside his apartment for a week and take care of him for a week straight. Again.
Well, he would actually do it gladly. Not the whole locking Klavier inside his apartment part, but the part where he got to take care of his boyfriend for an entire week. Especially since Klavier looked like a sick kitten whenever he got ill, and Apollo couldn't lie and say he didn't look absolutely adorable when he pouted and whined about not being able to go to work, voice heavy with sleep and face red as a tomato with sickness and the embarrassment of being taken care of. First begging, then demanding Apollo to let him go, but then finally accepting that he was sick and letting Apollo take care of him. But Apollo would never say that out loud, of course.
Apollo bent down and knelt next to him and touched his forehead to check his temperature. His body already usually ran pretty cold, but now he was even colder due to the freezing air. At this rate, he was going get frostbitten—well, not actually, but that didn't mean that he wasn't cold. His skin was different too, it had lost all its usual give. Instead of the soft and smooth skin Apollo was used to, he got stiff and clammy.
Yeah, turning the AC off was definitely the right idea.
He didn't really understand the appeal of liking being cold, like... at all, but he would get used to it if Klavier liked the cold. Moderately, of course.
Apollo got up to get Klavier's glamorous and over-the-top jacket—which was draped over on one of the chairs in Klavier's office, probably for easy access—to cover him with it, considering he was literally freezing his ass off right now. Klavier probably would prefer freezing, but Apollo could care less about his preferences if it ment it could affect his health negatively.
After finishing his task, Apollo leaned against the desk, watching Klavier as he slept, a tender smile playing at his lips.
His golden locks were spread out on the table, chest rising and falling with every breath he took. Klavier looked beautiful doing anything, but Apollo had long decided that he looked the prettiest while sleeping.
Trucy had called him a creep once—even showed Ema and Athena who also had commented that it was cute-but-weird creepy behaviour—when she found out that both his phone's lock screen and home screen was two different pictures of Klavier sleeping. Apollo had no idea why they reacted that way, considering that they had been literally dating for the last nine months. Klavier might've whined a bit when he saw it because he didn't look 'perfect', but Apollo could tell he liked it.
One of them—he one in his lock screen—was taken when Apollo had caught Klavier sleeping on his bed with the comforter raised up to the point it had entirely covered his nose, and the other one was taken the time Apollo had arrived late to his apartment, just to find Klavier soundly sleeping with Mikeko—Apollo's cat—also sleeping soundly on his back. Apollo couldn't help but wonder if she was trying to steal his boyfriend—or atleast mark Klavier as her territory—while he took the picture.
Apollo didn't hear the end of the pictures for a long time after that, even Mr. Wright had asked if watching people sleep was his new way of investigating. Guess people don't lie when they say the walls have ears, or atleast they don't lie when they say there are always seventeen year old daughters with gossiping issues around.
But, come on, who could blame him? It wasn't his fault his already very pretty boyfriend looked so happy and so content while sleeping.
If you asked Apollo, Klavier was most beautiful when he finally let go, when he left his guard down, and when he let himself be happy and relaxed.
Not the fake relaxation where he would act like nothing bothered hin, just to end up having panic attacks in bathroom stalls. Not the fake, over the top happiness he could somehow muster, even with his... problems.
Not those, this. When he left himself be.
That's when he looked the prettiest.
Extra
Apollo spent the last fifteen minutes of Klavier's shift by walking around Klavier's office, looking through files he already looked at hours before to waste time.
After a while, he decided it had been enough time without checking the time—he later checked the time after Klavier woke up and did some math to figure out the timeline of events, only to realise he probably had waited around twenty minutes instead of only fifteen. Which wasn't a very great thing to do considering he didn't want Klavier's back to strain even more than it already had.
"Klavier? C'mon baby, wake up." Apollo gently shook Klavier's shoulder, smiling when he saw his eyes slowly opening and his body coming back to life.
Klavier groaned, definitely not enjoying the fact that he has to wake up, "Hmpf... five more minutes."
Apollo chuckled, "Your shift ended already. C'mon, I'll drive the car so you can sleep while we go down to your apartment, then you can sleep all you want. Alright?" He gently ran his fingers through Klavier's hair while Klavier hummed and pouted, making sure he was giving Klavier enough stimulation to wake up while also not overstimulating his body.
He moved his hand upwards to scratch at his scalp, just like he did when petting Mikeko, just the way he knew Klavier liked it. The man loved dogs, sure, but he was definitely nothing short of a cat when he pouted and dragged his feet.
Now that he'd mentioned Mikeko, Klavier and her got along the moment he set foot in Apollo's apartment, which was weird considering Mikeko didn't like strangers. Who knows, maybe the catlike nature of Klavier was the reason they became friends immediately. Or maybe Mikeko liked him because he was very cute, and Apollo couldn't help but feel the same if that was the case.
"My shift ended?" Klavier finally asked, his eyes unfocused and glossy by sleep. But, they were open instead of closed, atleast.
"Yeah, Kitty." He brushed a stray hair out of his boyfriend's eyes. "It did."
Klavier finally lifted his head enough to glare at Apollo, making it known without words that he was still mad about getting woken up. And he was possibly mad at the pet name, but it was just karma coming back to bite his ass after all the comments about his forehead and his height Apollo had to endure. His forehead wasn't even that big and he wasn't even that short...
"Hmph... You turned my Klimaanlage off?" Ah, that could've been why he was annoyed too.
Apollo laughed, getting his hand out of Klavier's hair. "I had to. You were freezing your ass off."
"You know I like it better like that..."
"And you know that I like you better when you're a warm kitty."
Klavier whined and buried his face in the pile of papers he'd been sleeping in, creasing the papers without a care in the world. Of course he wouldn't, considering he could always print another batch of papers since the Prosecutors Office swam in blank A4 papers and actual working printers. Unlike another law firm Apollo could name off the top of his head. Damn you and your cheapskate ways, Mr. Wright.
Klavier didn't lift his head again, clearly mad at something else. He didn't even need to speak to let Apollo know exactly what he was irritated at. He definitely was not liking the prospect of having his sleep disturbed by five minutes of walking to his car, then another five minutes walking from said car to his apartment.
"Look, It'll take a bit of walking down to your car, only five minutes, and then you can sleep all you want while I drive to your flat. How about that?" Klavier lifted his head again to let Apollo know he liked this idea, but still glared at him to continue explaining what kinds of tortures he'd have to go through after that.
Five minutes of getting in and out an elevator. Gods forbid this act of torture from ever being used on mankind once more.
"Look, then you just have to stay awake for five more minutes to get to the apartment." He chuckled at the groan he got from Klavier. "But after that you can sleep all you want, alright?"
Klavier finally sat up straight, rubbing his eyes. "Von mir aus, von mir aus. Ich steh ja schon auf."
"Alright then, let's get going, Kitty."
"Apollo!"
