Work Text:

“Dean, are you ready?” Allie asked, entering her bedroom closet, where her husband was. She found him looking through some box on the floor.

Allie leaned on the door, crossing her arms just above her baby belly. She was twenty nine weeks pregnant, and had just entered the third trimester.

Allie loved being pregnant, she did, but she was going to the bathroom every five minutes, her ankles were starting to swell and whenever she smelled her own perfume or was in a car, she wanted to throw up.

At least her hair was great, softer and curlier than ever.

“I just need to-“ he cut himself, searching for something on the box. “Found it.” He took his hands off the box, with a red hat on his hands, similar to the one in his head but smaller.

"What 's that?” She steps close to him, who was getting up from the floor.

“A hat, Allie-Cat.” He said sarcastically, showing the hat to her.

She rolled her eyes. “No shit, Sherlock.” She said

“Hey,” he points his fingers at her. “No bad words in front of the baby.” Then at her belly. Her response was another eye roll.

“Are you ready or not? We’re gonna be late.” She crosses her arms again.

“The ferry is in forty minutes. We have plenty of time.” He steps close to her.

“We were supposed to be leaving now.” She gestures her hand.

“Okay, let’s go.” He gestures to her to go first. They walked back to the living room, where Beau was sitting on the couch, watching tv. Since they needed to finish making their bags for the trip, Allie let Beau watch tv so they could finish packing. “Hey little trouble.” Dean sat next to the three year old. “Look what I have for you.” He showed the red hat.

Beau turns from the tv to look at him. His face lights up at the sight of the hat. “It’s like yours.” He points to the one in Dean’s head.

Dean chuckles. “Yeah,” he nods and places the hat on the boy's head.

He smiles, looking at his mother, who was behind Dean. “Look mommy. I’m just like daddy.”

Allie chuckles and approaches him. “Yes you are, baby.” She places her hand on his chin, smiling at him.

“We have to go. Garrett is already buzzing my phone.” Dean said getting up from the couch. Dean gets off the couch, grabbing his mother's hand as they go to the car.

-

After twenty minutes they were finally at the ferry. They almost lost it. Apparently Dean saw the time wrong and they were the last ones entering.

Allie was already feeling sick from the ferry. She was taking deep breaths, trying not to throw up. Dean turns to face her “You’re okay, Al?” He places his hand on her arm. She shakes her head, with her eyes closed.

“I’m taking a dramin.” She says looking in her purse for the medicine.

“Are you sure?” He rubs his hand on her arms. Dean knew Allie was having a hard time with nausea in this pregnancy. With Beau she was sick for the first few weeks, but after she hit the second trimester she was great.

“Dean, I can't stand being near you for five minutes smelling of sweat without throwing up, imagine an hour in here.” She took the pill and then water.

“Mommy, can I take off the belt now?” Beau asked from his car seat, trying to get off.

“Sure, baby.” she smiled at him, looking at him through the rear view. The boy quickly takes it off and jumps to be close to his parents.

“Mommy, why are you taking a pill?” He points to the bottle that Allie was putting back on her purse. “Are you sick?”

“It’s for me to sleep.” She explains, closing her bag, then placing it on the car floor.

“Why?” He tilts his head

“Because I’m tired.” She said, closing her eyes again and resting her head on the seat

“Why?” He asks one more time. Allie takes a deep breath.

“Dean.” she opens her eyes, turning to her husband, who was only watching them. “Wanna charm in?” She tilts her head to the three year old boy

“Right.” he nods “C’mon, little trouble.” He gets the boy from the back seat

“Where are we going?” He asked, putting one arm around Dean’s neck.

“Let’s go see the ocean.” He says, leaving the car, so Allie could go to sleep. “Allie-Cat, if you need anything we will be outside.” He turned back to see her, but she was already fast asleep. He smiled at her.

"What 's that?” The three year old points to the city behind them.

“That’s where we live. Boston.” Dean explains

“Why are we leaving?” He looks at his dad with a confused expression.

“We’re going on vacation.”

“Why?” Dean chuckles. Sometimes he forgot Beau was his son, just as much he was Allie’s.

“So we can rest, go to the beach.”

“But there's a beach here.”

“I know, but we’re going to a different beach.”

“Why?”

“D!” Thankfully Garrett’s voice came from behind him, interrupting their conversation. “There you are.” He opens his arms, so he can hug him.

“Hey GG.” He hugs him, tapping his back.

“Hey Beau.” Garrett says to the boy in Dean’s arm “Nice hat.” He taps slightly the hat

“It’s like dad’s” he points to his dad, making Garrett chuckles.

“Yeah it is.” He places his hands on Dean’s shoulder. "Where's Al?” He looks around

“She’s asleep. Still feeling nauseous in boats.” He explains. Garrett hums. “Where’s Hannah and the twins?”

“Ahh-“ the brunette places his hand on the back of his neck, looking at the ocean. “I just needed a break.” He says sincerely.

Dean chuckles. “And does Hannah know? Or are you waiting for her to come find you?”

“Shut up.” He slightly smacks the blonde’s shoulder. “It’s just a lot of crying and Taylor Swift songs. Just need to breathe a little.” Dean nods.

After some minutes, Hannah realized Garrett was missing and started texting him, until he finally went to find her.

Dean and Beau stayed walking around the boat for some minutes, until the boy was asleep in his father's arms. Then Dean placed him back in his car seat and kept playing on his phone for about forty minutes, when they finally reached on Cabo Cod and could continue with their trip.

Victor, Dexter’s Husband, had a beach house and invited them to spend the Fourth of July weekend there. It was four days of not having to worry about anything. Like the summer they used to have when they were in college.

The drive to the house was about two hours, so Dean turned on some music. Britney Spears. Allie teases him, because he doesn’t admit she’s his favorite singer. She is, but he’s not letting Allie win on this one. The song wasn’t too loud, so it wouldn’t wake up Allie or Beau, who were still sound asleep.

He looked around smiling, just watching his family.

When he was twenty-one he thought that by his thirties he would be the most successful lawyer in Connecticut and enjoying the Dean’s life. How wrong he was! There he was, in his own car, traveling to summer vacation with his wife. The love of his life, a girl he never imagined would completely change his life. And their son, the most brilliant and smart three year old, who loved to read books, skating and his precious toys. He smiled proudly of himself, and what he conquered.

And, of course, another baby on the way. A girl. When they found out, Dean freaked out a little, but then he got used to the idea and he was so excited to see her.

Dean was the one who chose the name Ivy. Some weeks ago, when the three of them were on the couch, watching Cars for what probably was the third time that day, Allie was in the middle, as usual, Beau was laying on her lap, and Dean had his arm around her, her head pressed on the crock of his neck, “Ivy.” He said.

Allie looked up to him, with a confused expression. “What?”

“We should name her Ivy.”

“I like that.” She smiled at him.

And after that, Hannah had bought them a bag with the girl’s name on it, and Dean was working on her room. They were really excited. Dean more than Allie. He knew she was having some doubts about herself as a mom. Dean thought it was crazy. Allie was the best mother ever. Better than Dean ever will be as a dad.

“Someone likes this song.” Allie’s soft voice interrupts his thoughts, he almost jumps on his seat. She had her hands on her belly. He knew she was meaning Ivy.

“Of course she does. Womanizer is a great song.”

She giggles “Babe, where are we?”

He looked at her, she was just waking up. She yanked and rubbed her head. “I’m not sure. I’ve been following Garrett since we left the ferry. Hopefully he knows where we’re going.”

“Dean.” She says

“What?” He shrugs, looking at her. She rolled her eyes. “Sleep well?” He changed the subject. She hums.

They stayed silent for some minutes, Dean only observing the landscapes in the way. It was almost twelve o’clock, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. He loved summer, some of the best memories of his life were in summer.

“Dean.” She calls him

“Yes babe?”

“I need to go to the bathroom.” She says.

He looks at her. “I’m sure we’re almost there. Can’t you hold it?” Dean knew he said the wrong thing as soon as the words left his mouth.

“When you have a baby pushing your bladder, you try to hold it.” She crosses her arms looking at him.

“Okay. Let’s just find a place then.”

They passed two gas stations, until Dean finally stopped in one that seemed cleaner. He wasn’t about to let his pregnant wife go pee in a dirty gas station bathroom. He was waiting for her outside of the car and stretching his legs. Garrett and Hannah were a little further from them.

“Dad?” Dean hears the little boy calling for him inside the car. He opens the door, sitting back on his seat and turning back to him.

“Hey little trouble.” He smiled at the boy, who was rubbing his eyes and yanking.

“Where’s mommy?” He asked, looking around for Allie. Then the car door opens, and the woman in question enters.

“Hey baby.” She says when she sees that Beau is awake.

“Let’s go then.”

-

After one hour, because Garrett apparently didn’t know where he was going, they got to Victor's house. Actually, it seemed like a manor. And it was in front of the beach, so they didn’t have to walk too much. Good for Allie, because walking long distances wasn’t something she was able to do like she usually did.

Allie was the first out of the car. She couldn’t stand being seated anymore. Dean got Beah from his car seat, picking the boy up. Then they hear some fighting, from Hannah and Garrett. Dean and Allie shared a look, usually they were the ones fighting.

“What’s going on?” Dean asks. He and Allie step closer to the jeep, so they could see the couple in question.

“Wyatt vomited because Garrett gave him too many cookies.” Hannah said annoyed.

“Hey it’s not my fault-“ Garrett tries to explain himself, but Allie cuts him off.

“What if Dean and I take Gigi inside and you can clean Wyatt up?!” She said, commanding more than asking. She nodded to Dean to pick the girl. He gave her Beau and opened the car door, finding the two toddlers in their seats, only watching him.

“Hi kiddos.”

“Hey, uncle Deanie.” They said at the same time.

“Gigi, we’re going to take you inside okay?” He helped the girl with her seat belt and picked her.

“I wanna go too.” Wyatt says, trying to take his seat belt

“You have to wait a little, honey.” Hannah explains

“Finally!” Dexter said as he opened the door. “We thought you weren’t coming anymore.” He steps out of the house, with his arms open.

“We’ve missed you too, Dexter.” Dean says sarcastically, hugging his friend.

“And here is my future Oscar winner,” he looked to see her, as soon as Dean was inside.

“Hey Dex,” she smiled at him, and hugged him.

“You look fabulous.” He says

“Thanks.” She smiles

“Babe, you can let them in, you know.” Victor said in the door. Allie chuckles and they all go in.

Dean went to pick their bags from the car with Dexter and Victor, so Allie stayed inside - against her will - with the kids. Gigi and Beau were watching cartoons on the tv, Beau was just looking at them. Gigi was laying in one of the cushions, with her pacifier, watching the tv carefully. Beau was laying down just above Allie’s belly, hugging her like a teddy bear.

Allie and Dean were never people who liked physical touch, until they started dating. But apparently Beau loved hugging, theoretically. Allie wasn’t complaining. The boy has been really excited to meet his baby sister. He’s counting the days for it. And everytime he could he was speaking with her in his mother's belly.

-

Once everyone was settled in, they decided to go to the pool. Well, Beau did, as soon as he saw it he wanted to jump.

He loves water. Ever since he was born. Within six months Allie and Dean put him in swimming lessons for baby’s, and he was obsessed with them. Both her and Dean went to every class.

The boys were in the pool with the kids, and Allie and Hannah were in the pool chairs. Allie also loved going to the pool, but she needed some alone time to talk to Allie. She knew something was wrong when she saw her and Garrett fighting, they usually don't snap at each other like that. Or fighting in front of their friends. Unlike Dean and Allie, who fought more in public than when they were alone.

“So,” She started, turning her phone off and looking at the blonde next to her. “I’ve barely seen you these last few weeks.”

“Well, you’ve been pretty busy. With the the baby. Didn’t want to bother you.” She shrugs. Allie thought it was weird. Hannah wasn’t like that. She always texts Allie, or goes to see her.

The brunette lifts an eyebrow. “That’s the only reason?”

Hannah closes her book, takes off her sunglasses and looks at her. “What do you wanna know, A?” She asks

“Well, you and Garrett-“

She didn’t have time to ask, because Hannah was already cutting her off. “Everything is okay.” She affirms. But she knew Hannah. When there was a problem, she would always try to ignore it, and not talk about it. Usually she talked about it with Garrett, but clearly he was part of the problem, or Allie, but she was cutting her off.

Allie looked between her and Garrett, who was in the pool, playing with the girls. “Are you sure?” Then she looked back at her best friend. She was concerned and just wanted to help. “You know-“

This time Allie was cut off by Beau calling her. “Mommy.” The voice of the boy made her turn to look at him, concerned. He was next to his dad, with his flout in his arms. Beau hated when his parents tried to hold him in the water, so Dean and Allie bought him flouts, a lot of them, since in the summer he used them a lot.

“What's wrong, baby?” She asks the boy. He got close to the pool bord, to be as near as possible to his mom.

“You’re not coming in?” He asked her, pouting and giving her bambi eyes. A trick he got from Allie herself, she usually does with Dean and works really well with her husband. And Beau knows it works with her too.

“Go,” Hannah says, making Allie turn back to her.

“No. We’re talking-“

“No, A, go. There’s nothing to talk about. Besides, I know you really want to get in.”

Allie tilts her head to her best friend. “Are you sure?” She nods. And then places her sunglasses back and leans her head on the chair, looking at the sky.

Allie goes to the pool. Dean and Beau were waiting for her at the border. Dean offered his hand to help her get inside. As soon as she was in, his arms came around her waist, keeping her close. She smiled at him, placing her arm around his neck. “Hey,” he says softly to her

“Hi.” She smiles. He gives her a quick peek at the lips.

“You know I love this red bikini.” He whispers in her ear.

She chuckles. “I know.” She whispers too. He smirks at her then pulls her to kiss. It was soft and sweet. Full of love and familiarity. She would never get tired of kissing him.

“Get a room.” Dexter yells at them, throwing water at them, breaking the kiss.

“Shut up.” Dean and Allie say at the same time.

“Babe, don’t throw water at her. She’s pregnant.”

Victor says to Dexter, but everyone can hear it.

“I’m pregnant, not sick.” She throws water at them, and ends up hitting Garrett.

“Hey, I didn’t do anything.” He says. Then he tries to toss water at her, but Dean steps in front of her.

So the water from Garrett hits him. “That’s the best you can do?” Dean challenges him, then tosses water back.

-

Allie was sound asleep when Ivy started to kick her. Great, she thought. She tried to get back to sleep, but the baby kept kicking, and Allie decided to go walk a little. And get some snacks, of course.

Dean had brought to her some of the things she’s been craving a lot lately. Orange juice, Oreos and cucumber. It was weird, she knew. But it was all she’s been wanting to eat lately. But at that point, two thirty in the morning, she decided the Oreos would be the best option.

She got up the bed, slightly not to wake Dean. She could ask him to go get it, but she wanted to walk a little. She perambulates through the silent and dark house. Everyone was in their bedrooms sleeping.

After she got the Oreo package, she closed the cabinet door and looked to the balcony in the kitchen, where she found Garrett there, sitting on the floor looking at the beach.

“Hey.” She walked to him,

He shifts a little at her voice. “Hey.” He turns to her, smiling.

“Can’t sleep?” She asks, opening the package

“Something like that.” He nods. “Sit.” He says. It takes her a little more time than usual to sit next to him, because of the belly, he even had to help her.

“Oreo?” She offers it to him. He smiles and takes one. “So,” she turns to him, “What’s bothering you?” Allie had this feeling something was up with Garrett and Hannah. And since Hannah didn’t tell her, maybe Garrettt would.

“Its,” he looks away from her, like he was thinking of what to say. “It's nothing.” He shrugs.

“C’mon. I know something is wrong. Tell me.” She says softly, taking another bite of her Oreo.

“Hannah probably already told you, so you will take her side on it.”

“Hey,” she bumps her shoulder on his, to make him look at her. “You two are my best friends. I’m not taking anyone’s side.” She smiles at him. He smiles back.

“It’s just,” he starts, but cuts himself off, thinking of a way to say it. “We’ve been kind of too busy. When she's not at home with the kids, she's in the studio composing and I'm practicing all day, so we barely see each other. And when we do, we just snap at each other for nothing, and it ends up in a big fight.” He takes a deep breath. “I just don’t know what to do to make it better. This has never happened before.” He turns to her, who was quietly eating her Oreos and hearing him. “This already happened to you?”

Allie knew he wasn’t asking exactly about her relationship with Dean, but it was pretty much the only serious relationship she ever had. “Yeah,” she nods. “It did.”

“What happened?” She could see the hope in his eyes. It broke her heart she would have to tell him how it ended for her.

“Dean and I broke up.” She says. This time, she was the one looking away.

“You and Dean?” He asks. She nods. “Oh.” He understood what she was talking about. She and Dean only broke up once. After Beau Maxwell’s death, the things started to get complicated between them, Allie and Dean fighting almost every time they talked. They barely spoke to each other when she decided she needed time to think about herself and their relationship.

“Look,” she places her hands on his arm, so he would look at her. “We broke up because we didn’t actually talk. We just ignored our problem, until we couldn’t anymore. Maybe you two should go out. Dean and I can watch the twins.” She offers.

“Thanks, but I don’t think Hannah wants to be too close now.” He says sadly. Allie knew how Garrett and Hannah felt for each other. She had the front road during all their relationship. They were crazy for each other. She was going to help them get through this. And she already knew how. “Oh no.” He says, cutting her thoughts.

“What?” She frowns her eyebrows

“I know that look.” He points to her “It’s the same Dean has when he has a plan.” She laughs. “What is it?”

“I'm not telling you.”

“That’s exactly what he says. And his plans always fail.”

“Not all of them.” She says softly, smiling. It was definitely her favorite memory from him. The day he finally understood that he really loved her, and couldn’t lose her.

“That was the only one.” He says laughing.

They stay in the balcony for a little while, when Allie decides to go back to her room. Ivy had stopped kicking her, so she could go back to sleep.

As soon as she laid on the bed, Dean laid his head on her chest, hugging her. “Where were you?” He whispers so it wouldn’t wake Beau up, who was sleeping in the same room as them.

“I went to have a snack.”

“I could’ve gone with you.”

She smiles, playing with his hair. “I know. But I didn’t want to wake you. You were looking too cute sleeping.” She kisses the top of his head.

-

Next morning, Allie woke up early. Actually, she was woken up early. She and Dean. Beau had jumped on his parents bed, well, he jumped on his dad, but since he was sleeping on Allie’s chest, it woke her up too.

“Morning mommy and daddy.” He says when he jumps on them.

“Hey little trouble.” Dean says roughly. Rubbing his eyes

“Hey baby.” Allie says sleepy. She opened her eyes for a second and then closed.

“Can we have breakfast?”

“What time is it?” Dean asked with a sleepy voice.

Allie slowly turned to get her phone to see the time. “seven thirty two.” She says, turning it off, and turning back to them, closing her eyes. She just wanted to sleep for five more minutes.

“How about we watch some tv?” Dean asks the little boy, who’s eyes sparkle at the mention of the tv. Allie knew what he was doing, convincing Beau to watch cartoons, so they could sleep a little more. And she was so thankful for him doing that.

“Can we watch Paw Patrol?” He blinks to his father.

“Anything you want.” He turns the tv on and puts on the cartoon channel.

Some time later, Allie wakes up with laughing sounds. She definitely slept again. But when she woke up, she found the two blondes watching the tv and laughing. Dean hadn’t gone back to sleep apparently. Beau was leaning on both his parents, looking carefully at the tv.

She smiled at the scene in front of her, and unconsciously she titger her arms around Dean. He looked up to her, since he was still laying on her chest, and smiled. “Hey,” he says softly

“Hi.” She smiles.

They stay quiet for a few minutes, just watching the dogs on the tv talking. “I’m still hungry.” Beau said out of the blue. Allie almost fell back to sleep.

“Let’s go have some breakfast then.” Allie starts to get up, but Dean wouldn’t let her.

“Or we could stay here.” He pulls her close to him. Beau had already jumped out of the bed, he was just waiting for his mom.

“Dean,” she warns him

“Have I ever told you that you’re a great pillow?”

She chuckles. “A couple of times, yeah.” She nods, laughing. “I promise later we can stay in bed. But right now,” she places her fingers on his chin, lifting so he would look at her, “I wanna eat.”

“Okay,” he nods, a little sad that they’re going to have to get up. He rolls to let her out of the bed, but doesn’t make any move to do it himself.

Allie and Beau went to the bathroom to brush their teeth. Allie let the three year old do it alone, so she could brush her own, but afterwards, she would brush it again, just to make sure he didn’t forget any part. Dean apparently had fallen asleep, because, when they left the bathroom, Beau and Allie were met with him sleeping again.

“Beau,” Allie whispers to the little boy in her arms. He was a little distracted playing with her hair, but when she spoke he looked at her. “What do you say we wake up daddy?” she says, smirking. He nods, with a similar smirk as his mother in his face. Allie carefully placed the toddler in the bed, then she started to count, and when she said three, they started to tickle him.

“Okay. Okay.” Dean says, breathless because he was laughing too much. “I’m up” He quickly jumps out of the bed, and goes to the bathroom.

Allie and Beau went to the kitchen. It was almost nine in the morning, and apparently everyone was still sleeping, or just didn’t leave their rooms, so the house was empty. As much as Allie loved to let Beau walk alone through the house, they were in a huge house where things cost a lot, she didn’t want to take any risks. That and she couldn’t keep up with the toddler running around.

“Mommy can I help you with breakfast?” Usually she would say yes. She loved when Beau cooks with her, but she forgot to bring the stoll they had for him at home.

“I’m sorry baby, but we forgot your stool, so you won’t be really safe cocking here.” She explains. The three year old nodded, with a pout on his face, but there was nothing she could do. “But you can choose what we’re eating.” She said, trying to cheer him up.

Thankfully it works, he gives her a big smile. “Pancakes!”

“Pancakes it is.” she says laughing. While she was cooking, Beau was playing with one of the toys he bought with him. Allie had warned him to stay in the kitchen, where she could see him, but sometimes he would be out of her sight, making her heart stop for a bit. “Beau,” She calls him one more time. He appeared in Dean’s arms a second later.

“I’m assuming this one belongs to you.” he says laughing. The little boy in his arms was struggling to get back on the floor.

“Dean, can we talk?” she asks, trying not to sound so serious, she knew he would worry a lot without need. Dean, places him on the floor, carefully, and makes his way to his wife.

“Everything okay?” he asks softly, stopping next to her in the oven.

“I was thinking,” she pours the batter in the pan. “You and Garrett could go out today. You know, just the two of you. And talk” she turns to him, to emphasize the talk part.

He lifts his eyebrows at her. “Talk? About what?” Allie didn’t expect Dean to realize something was wrong between Garrett and Hannah, he could be a little clueless sometimes.

“Look,” she fully turns to him, ignoring the rest of the pancakes she had to do. “There’s something going on with Hannah and Garrett, and I think you should talk to him.” her hands find his

“I didn’t see anything wrong with GG and Wellsy.” he shrugs

“I know you didn’t. But I still think you should talk to him.”

“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean? I’m a very prospective guy.”

“Sure you are, babe.” she says sarcastically. “If I remember correctly, I had to hit you on the head with a paperweight for you to assume you love me.” She jokes

He throws his head, rolling his eyes. “Are you ever going to forget this?” He looks back at her.

She smiles at him, placing her hands on his cheeks, getting on the tip of her toes. “Never.” then she kisses him, not letting him answer.

“Ew guys, it's too early for this.” Dexter complains when he enters the kitchen, covering his eyes, and Beau’s. Dean and Allie break the kiss, laughing.

“Good morning, Dex.” they say at the same time.

“You,” Allie starts speaking, pointing to Dean “You’re talking with Garrett today.” she turns back to the oven, remembering she has to finish the breakfast.

“Talk about what?” Dexter asks with a confused expression

“Allie-Cat thinks GG and Hannah are fighting.”

“They seem fine to me.” he shrugs

Dean gestures to Dexter, “Exactly what I said.”

“I don't care what you see or don't see. Dean, you're going to do this.” she turns to them, with her serious expression, that always made the boys do anything she said, because they were afraid of her.

“You're screwed.”  “Yes ma'am." they say at the same time.

Good to know the face still works

-

As she wanted, the boys went out to the beach to surf, so Allie and Hannah stayed behind with the kids. She wanted the boys, especially Dean, to talk to Garrett, but her plan was actually to talk alone with Hannah. Maybe without them around her best friend would finally talk to her.

Maybe Allie was spending too much time with Hannah. Or her pregnancy hormones were making her a little paranoid.

Since they didn’t go to the beach, the kids of course wanted to go to the pool. They really loved the water. So Allie and Hannah were with them. “Mommy,” Gigi called. “Where’s daddy?” She asked.

“He’s at the beach.” Hannah answers.

“Can’t we go with him?” She wraps her arms around her mother’s neck, giving her puppy eyes.

“We will see him later okay.” Hannah tells her. Then she turns to Allie, who was watching their interaction carefully. “What?” She shrugs

“Nothing,” Allie shakes her head.

“Allie-Cat.” she heard someone calling her. No, she heard Dean calling her. She turned around to see the blonde coming up to them.

She had a bad feeling. Why was he back here? Was he hurt?

With that thought she got up from her spot in the chair inside the pool and went to him as fast as she could.

“Dean? What 's wrong?” She carefully searched his face and body for any kind of wounds - she of course enjoyed the view a little, but she couldn’t think about that now.

“I forgot to put on sunscreen.” He answers. Her expression changed from worried to relieved and then a little angry. She shoved his arm. “Ouch,” he said rubbing his arm “What was that for?”

“I thought you were hurt.” She says. The hormones were making Allie a little paranoid and over protective with Dean and Beau. But she wasn’t a fan of those feelings, they made her worry a lot and she always wanted to have them in her sight.

“Hey,” he says softly, putting his hands on her shoulder. “I’m okay.” Dean knew this wasn't the first time that happened and certainly not the last. He also knew Allie had been clinging to him a lot, not that he was complaining. “Come here.” His arms travel around her, until they’re tightly around her.

Her arms wrapped around his torso, and her face rested on the crock of his neck. “Sorry.” She whispers

“Don’t worry. You know I love when you are missing me.” She lifts her head to look at him. He laughs and gives her a quick peek at the lips. The words she was going to say died in her mouth. “Where’s the sunscreen?” She points to a chair.

“Look daddy,” Beau called his dad, who quickly turned to look at the boy. He was swimming as fast as he could.

“Wow, you’re getting real good, little trouble.” Dean tells him laughing.

When Dean finished putting in the sunscreen, he went back to the beach, leaving Allie and Hannah with the kids.

“A.” Hannah started. Allie was back in the pool, getting closer to her friend.

“Yeah?”

“Do you, and Dean ever get so caught up in the routine you just snap sometimes?” Hannah travels her eyes through the place, to avoid Allie’s.

“Sometimes.” She answers. Allie knew Hannah was starting to open up to her, she didn’t want her to stop now, so she was keeping her words to a minimum.

“What do you do?” Hannah looks back at her eyes.

“Well, sometimes we fight. But most of the time I try to talk to him. Dean can be a little difficult sometimes.” They chuckled

“It’s just-“ She starts to look around again. Then her eyes landed on Gigi and Wyatt, who were playing happily with Beau, throwing water at each other. “It’s nothing.” She shakes her head

“Honey-“ Allie knew Hannah wasn’t going to say anything with the kids around. “We can talk later.” She smiles at her friend, who gives her a small smile.

-

Dean wasn’t the best guy to talk about feelings. Allie was still getting him to open up to her, and they’ve been together for almost ten years.

He also knew Garrett. His best friend wouldn’t just talk about some problem he was having with Hannah. Especially with Victor around. Not that they weren’t friends, it was just Dean and Garrett were friends since freshman year.

They considered each other as brothers.

So after Allie told him something was wrong, he started to pay attention to Hannah and Garrett’s behavior. And - as much as he hated to admit sometimes - she was right. They had been distant, barely speaking to each other, unless it was to ask for something for the kids.

Dean felt like a terrible friend, because he didn’t realize it sooner. Maybe that has been happening for weeks now, and Dean hadn’t seen it.

He was trying to find a way to start the conversation, but it was hard. Allie was definitely way better than him at this.

Dexter and Victor had gone to some store, so Dean and Garrett were waiting for them at the restaurant, where they were going to have lunch.

“She told you, didn’t she?” Garret asked, breaking the silence between them. Allie had been scrolling through his phone, looking at nothing specific.

“Who told me what?” Dean played dumb, he knew what he was talking about.

“Right.” The brunette shakes his head. “Go on. Ask.” He gestures his hand

“So,” Dean started, not quite sure how he would finish, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck. “You and Weslly…”

“It’s nothing you have to worry about.” Garrett cut him

“You know I’m not great at this, but Al is. And she will kill me if I don’t try to talk to you.”

Garrett chuckles. “It’s nothing okay. We’re just too busy and we’re not having much time to ourselves.” He shrugs

“With that I can help.” Dean places his hand on his friend's shoulder. “You and Hannah can go out and Al and I can watch the twins. Anytime.”

“D, you know you’re about to have another kid right?”

“It’s weeks away. Besides, the twins love me.” He leans back at the chair, with a smirk in his face. Garrett shoved his arm. “Hey.”

“I’m telling Al.” He points to him.

“Look, we are here for three more days, Dexter and Victor are here too, we all can babysit, so you and Weslly can go out.”

Garrett stayed silent. “I will think about it.”

-

The three toddlers were finally asleep.

Allie got up from the bed, carefully not to wake them, making her way to the balcony, where Hannah was. “Hey.” She sat next to her in one of the chairs.

“Hey.” Hannah turns to her. They stayed silent for a little, just watching the view, it was a mix of beach and woods. It was relaxing. There was a little wind too, making the place less warm. “So, Garrett and I have been weird around each other.”

Hannah started, making Allie jump a little at the sudden break of the silence. She turned to her, smiling. She was glad Hannah was the one that brought the subject up. “Why?”

“I don’t know.” She shrugs. “At first I thought it was because of my period. But then after it was over I was still getting annoyed with him for anything. It’s just,” Hannah takes a deep breath. “He's been spending a lot of time training, and I've been alternating between staying home with the kids and going to the studio, and when he's home we hardly talk, we just fight. And I think it’s my fault,” she turns to Allie “I just don’t know what to do to make it better.”

“Well, I think trying to talk to each other is a good start.”

“But we just end up fighting.” Hannah mumbles.

“You know I'm usually terrible with relationship advice, but you two love each other. You will find a way to talk.”

“What if he doesn’t love me anymore?” Allie could see the fear in Hannah’s eyes.

“Honeybun,” Allie wrapped one of her arms around Hannah’s shoulder “That hockey man loves you,” she shakes her head “He’s crazy about you. You are just having a little hard time, that's all. Everyone passes through this.”

“You and Dean seem fine.”

Allie chuckles. “Yeah, now. But we have our moments too. Look Han-han, you and Garrett have been through so much, especially in the beginning of your relationship, look where you two are now. Married, for real .” Hannah chuckles “With two kids. I’m sure if you talk and listen to each other everything will be resolved.”

“Are you sure?” She tilts her head.

“Yeah. You just need some time for yourselves. When was the last time you went out on a date?”

Hannah stays silent for some seconds, like she was counting. “Valentine’s day.”

"Valentine’s day? That was five months ago.” Allie jumps, giving some space between them, so she could see Hannah’s face.

“You're telling me you and Dean go out all the time?” She leans back her head, to face Allie.

“No, but we do have dates sometimes.” Hannah lifts her eyebrows. “We had our anniversary, and then it was Deans birthday and-“ Allie cut off herself “Hey, we are talking about you, not me.”

“Look, there has been no time to do any dating okay.” She shakes her head

Allie lifts her eyebrows now. “And you guys are doing nothing?” She bites her cheeks to hide her smirk.

Hannah smacks her shoulder. “Allison!”

“What?” She shrugs, laughing.

“You will see how your sex life will be when you have two kids.” Hannah points the finger to her

“Hey, my sex life is doing great.” Allie rests her hands on her belly.

Hannah rolls her eyes at her. “Can we please change the subject.” She crosses her arms

Allie laughs. “Fine. So what are you going to wear?”

“To what?” Hannah frowns her eyebrows

“For your date with Garrett. Tonight.” Allie says with a duh tone

“I haven’t even talked to him.”

“You will. Tonight.”

“The kids-“

“The kids will be fine. Dean and I can watch them. Besides, we need to practice how to take care of a girl. Well, I do.”

“C’mon, A, you’re great with them.” Hannah tilts her head

“No,” the brunette shakes her head. “Dean is.” Dean was great with kids. Always was. She knew he would be a great dad, even if he doubts himself a lot.

“Don’t worry. You’re going to be great.”

Allie hums. “We will see.” Allie was actually super self conscious about having a girl.

-

“You actually did it!” Allie says to Dean. No that she didn’t believe he could do it, she just didn’t think he would actually try and talk to Garrett.

“Of course I did.” He lays on the bed next to her, placing his hands in the back of his neck. “You were doubting me?” He raises his eyebrows.

“No. I’m just impressed.” She shakes her head.

“You flatter me, Di Laurentis.” He leans close to her face, she rolls her eyes. “So how are we going to take care of three kids?”

“Well Dexter and Victor can help, so I think it won’t be as hard as you’re thinking.”

“Yeah.” He nods, looking away from her.

“What?” She turns to him.

“Nothing.” He shrugs

“Dean.”

“It’s nothing, Allie-Cat.” He sits on the bed, placing his hands on her arms, an attempt to distract her from what had just happened with him.

Luckily for him, someone knocked on the door. “Come on in.” She says, turning to the door.

“Hey,” Hannah’s head came through the door. Allie could see she was wearing makeup, and her hair was straightened. “Sorry to interrupt.”

“You didn’t.” Dean says quickly, gaining a glare from Allie.

“Here,” she enters the room, giving Allie a piece of paper. “It’s for the kids, if you need to know anything-“

“Han-han, we already took care of them a hundred times.” Allie says “Don’t worry.” She gives her friend a reassuring smile.

“Okay.” She nods.

-

Taking care of the three toddlers would be a big job, but they were four adults, they could handle right?

Maybe they couldn’t.

Gigi and Wyatt have been glued to their mother for the past five years, it was rare occasions Hannah and Garrett left without the kids, so they were really attached to them. With them away the kids were constantly asking for them and crying, saying they were missing them.

And with all the crying, Allie was having a hard time. The little voice inside her head was telling her she couldn’t do it. She couldn’t have a girl, because she wouldn’t know how to take care of her. To make her feel better.

She just needed to breathe a little. To be alone. Even if it was for a few minutes.

She was in the kitchen. She gave the guys the excuse she was hungry so she went to get something to eat. They didn’t say anything, only nodded trying to calm the two kids.

Beau on the other hand had been quiet all night. He was trying to make his friends stop crying, showing them his boat or trying to make a joke. Allie smiled at the thought of the last one. Beau was definitely hers and Dean’s kid, trying to joke in a tense situation. It was more Dean than Allie, but it was still a little trace for her personality.

Allie is only child, and she thought it would be better to have only one kid, so she could focus only on him. But then Beau started to talk about having a sister. Not a brother, or even a dog, he wanted a sister. And it freaked Allie out.

The night Beau first brought it up, she ended up having a panic attack. Something she hadn’t had in years. Dean assured her they didn’t need another kid, he was happy with just Beau. But she knew he wanted one more, he was just lying to make her feel better. After she gave birth to Beau he was already talking about maybe having another baby, she joked telling him if he carried they could have another, but she never actually thought it would happen again.

But she sees how happy Beau and Dean are with the baby. Not that she isn’t, she’s thrilled. Allie had been thinking of all the hairstyles she would do in her hair, playing with dolls, - which was something she always loved - and watching all the princess movies.

“Allie-Cat?” Dean’s voice interrupted her thoughts. She quickly cleans up some of the tears that were almost dry in her face, and turns to him, faking a smile. He could see right through her. “Hey,” he steps closer, placing his hands on her arms. “What happened?”

She shakes her head. They don’t have time to talk now. They had to go back to the kids. “Nothing. I’m fine.” She fakes another smile.

he tugs one of her curls behind her ear. “C’mon, Al, talk to me.” He begs

“I don’t think I can do this.” The tears leave her eyes before she’s finishing her sentence.

He wraps his arms around her, pulling her into him for a hug. “Of course you can.” He kisses the top of her head. “Because I will be with you all the time okay.” One of his hands lifts her chin, so he can see her. Her eyes were full of tears. “You won’t be doing it alone.” He leans his forehead to touch hers. “Okay?” She shakes her head. “Great!” He leans back, so he can see her face, he cleans the tears in her cheeks, then he cups her face in his hands. “How about a smile?” She rolls her eyes. “I’m serious.” She gives him a fake smile. “C’mon, Al.” She was about to say something but he cut her off, placing his lips on hers. He can feel her smile against his lips, which makes him smile too. “That’s my girl.” He says when they broke the kiss.

She chuckles. “Maybe we should get back.”

“Mommy.” Beau’s voice interrupts them. Dean and Allie look at the kitchen door, where the little boy was coming in, with his pacifier on one hand and rubbing his eyes with the other.

“Hey baby.” She dries the rest of the tears in her cheek and quickly leaves Dean’s arms, going to the toddler. “Everything okay?” Dean follows her

“Can we go watch tv in the bedroom?” He asks.

Dean and Allie share a concerned look. “What happened, little trouble?” Dean gets on the same high as Beau, placing one of his hands on his little shoulder.

“Wyatt yelled at me.” His voice breaks, and he starts to cry, hugging his dad. Dean wraps his arm around his tiny body, lifting him up, so Allie could see him too.

“I’m sorry, baby.” Dean says. They stay quiet for a little bit, just the three of them. “Mom will take you.” He gives Allie the kid. She looks at him confused.

“Dean, what about the twins?” She asks, adjusting the toddler in her arms. His legs were around her torso, his hands around her neck and his head was resting in the crock of her neck. She could hear him sobbing. It broke her heart seeing him crying. Especially after getting pregnant, the hormones make everything bigger.

“Dexter, Victor and I can take care of them.”

“Are you sure?” She tilts her head.

“Yeah.” He nods. “Besides, it’s way past his bedtime.” Dean points to the clock on the wall that showed it was almost nine o’clock, to Allie’s relief. She knew he was tired, that’s why he was crying, not actually because Wyatt yelled at him.

“Okay.” She nods. “Let’s go give you a shower and then we can watch tv, okay?” She tells the crying toddler in her arms. He nods his head. “Say good night to your dad.”

“Bye daddy.” Beau lifts his hand waving it to Dean, who smiles at him.

“Good night, little trouble.” He kissed the top of his head, then turned to Allie. “Good night, Allie-Cat.” He gives her a quick peek at the lips.

“I can come back to-“ she starts, but Dean interrupts her.

“No,” he shakes his head. “I got this.” He pulls her to him a little, giving her one more kiss, before letting her and Beau go upstairs.

Allie and Beau were fastly in the room. The toddler had played with his mother’s hair the whole way upstairs.

“Mommy,” she hummed for him to continue “Do you think Ivy will have hair like yours?” Allie smiled at the question, turning to the boy in her arms.

“I don’t know,” she shrugs. “I hope so, I don’t wanna be the only brunette in the house.” She jokes. Beau’s hair was just like Dean’s, just a little bit more curly, but it was huge. She had already given him two haircuts in the last year. Dean too.

They finally got in the room. Allie gives him a shower. Well, she lets him play in the bathtub for a little, she knows he loves it.

“And Hawks wins again!” Beau’s voice echoes through the bathroom walls. Allie raises her head a little bit, so she could see the boy inside the bathtub. She was sitting in the toilet, so she could observe him. Usually she would sit on the floor, but her belly wouldn’t let her. Beau was playing with his hockey toys. Allie thought it was the cutest thing ever. She watches him quietly.

After drying him and putting on his pajamas, they were finally laying on the bed. Allie was leaning in the bedside and Beau was laying on her, his hair was still a little wet and it was wetting her shirt, but she didn’t care. He had his pacifier in his mouth, and was silent watching the movie.

Allie was trying the best she could to stay awake, but she was really tired.

-

“Where’s A?” Dexter asked Dean, as soon as he entered the living room. Wyatt and Gigi weren’t crying anymore, thank God.

“She took Beau to sleep. It’s just us now.” He says. Dean knew Allie was tired, he saw it in her eyes, Beau thankfully appeared at the right time.

“I’m hungry.” Gigi said, turning to Dean, completely ignoring the picture she was coloring.

“Me too.” Wyatt added.

Dexter and Victor looked scared at Dean, who took a deep breath. If they are going to rely on Dean, something was definitely wrong. “How about we have some fruits?” Dexter starts.

Wyatt, Gigi, and Dean, looked at him like he had just said the wrong thing. “Really Dex?” Dean asks

“What are we giving them then, Mr know it all.” Dexter says

“How about a,” he stops his words to look at the list Hannah gave him and Allie, it had the twin’s favorite foods, allergies and everything else they needed to know. “Peanut butter and jelly sandwich?!” The twins gave him a big smile

“Yes!!!” They said at the same time.

“Not fair.” Dexter crosses his arms “You cheated.” He points to the list.

“I usually do Dex!” He laughs. “That’s why I’m always right.”

"Wait until Al hears it.” He added. Dean rolls his eyes.

Victor went to prepare the sandwiches, leaving Dexter and Dean with the kids.

Dean was sitting on the floor, painting with Wyatt. Dexter was with Gigi. Dean could see his friend was struggling to take care of her. “Everything okay?” He asked. Dexter jumped from his spot and turned to Dean.

“How did you do it?”

“Do what?”

“Make them like you.”

“C’mon Dex, they like you too.” Dean tries to assure his friend.

“Not as much as you.” He shakes his head, looking at the floor. Dean could hear the little jealousy on Dexter’s tone, which worried him. He never saw him like that.

“What’s wrong?” He fully turns to Dexter.

Dexter looks around, making sure Victor was not coming. “Victor wants kids.” He seemed a little scared. Actually scratch that, he looks a lot scared.

“And you don’t?” Dean tilts his head

“I-“ he shakes his head. “I don’t know. I think I do. But I’m terrible with them.”

“You’re a teacher.”

“Yeah, from the drama department for adults in their 20s.” He says. “I actually avoid kids as much as I can.”

“They are not as hard as you think. Except when they are tired or hungry.” Dean chuckles, remembering all the times Beau threw a tantrum, which it wasn’t a lot. When he was tired or hungry he would actually stay quiet. Not saying anything was when Allie and Dean worried about him.

“Easy for you to say. Kids love you.” Before Dean can answer Victor enters the living room, bringing the twins sandwich, which made them really happy.

After they finished eating, Dexter insisted on taking them to brush their teeths, so Dean went with him, because he knew Dexter wouldn’t know what to do.

“So how do you do this?”

“Let them brush it, and after we do it again to make sure they didn’t miss anything.” Dean explains, giving the girls their toothbrushes.

“Isn't it easier if we just do it?”

“Yeah,” Dean nods. “But they need to learn so they can do it alone.” He gives the two toddlers a smile.

“Uncle deanie, can you lift me up?” Gigi asked, her mouth was full of purple toothpaste. Dean nodded, picking the girl up, and helping her in the sink.

“There you go.” Dean says. “Here,” he gives the orange toothbrush to Dexter.

“What am I supposed to do with this?”

“Brush his teeth now.” Dean points to the boy, sitting on the sink, swinging her legs

“Are you sure?” Dean nods. “Okay.” Dexter starts to brush her teeth carefully.

Dean laughs at the irony, he was teaching Dexter something. Usually it was the other way around.

Having kids was a big step, and he knew Dexter was self conscious. He wasn’t actually the greatest with kids, he knew the technicalities, but he was scared.

“Done.” He says.

“Great job, Dex.” Dean smacks his hand on his shoulder, giving him a smirk

“You’re enjoying this too much.” Dexter rolls his eyes

“Sorry. I can’t help it.”  He says laughing

After they finished brushing the twin’s teeth, they went back to the living room. Dean went to give a quick look at Allie and Beau.

He slowly opened the door so as not to disturb them. He found them laying in the bed, watching Wreck it Ralph. Actually, they were both asleep, the movie was playing on the screen. Dean smiled at the most adorable scene he ever witnessed. He let himself enjoy a little, then he closed the door and went back to the living room to help Dexter and Victor, or else the twins would make them crazy.

“Di Laurentis!” Dexter called him, as soon as he was back in the living room.

“Sorry. What’s wrong?” He looked around, the twins were jumping on the couch.

“They wanted to jump on the couch.” Victor starts

“So we let them.” Dexter said

As much as Dean thought it was fun to jump on the couch, he let Beau do it all the time, but it was past their bedtime, and they were still up. “Hey troubles.” Dean turns to the twins, his hands on his waist, something he was coping with from Allie. Whenever she had her hands on her waist and was looking serious, Beau would stop what he was doing. The kids looked at him and laughed, coping his pose while they kept jumping.

“What do we do?” Dexter asked. Dean grabbed Hannah’s list one more time, and there were also their favorite movies.

“What if we watch Toy Story 2?” He frowns his eyebrows.

They stopped jumping and looked at him, hopefully. “Yes!!!” They speak at the same time. It was weird how in sync they were.

“Okay, so let’s sit on the couch okay?” Dean said softly.

“We should be filming this.” Victor whispers to Dexter, but Dean can hear it. He only laughs, keeping his eyes at the Wells-Graham twins, carefully sitting on the couch.

Dexter turns on the TV and puts in the movie. The first fifteen minutes they were quiet, but then Gigi started to ask for her hot milk.

“I will go.” Dexter says.

“I will go with you.” Victor says, but he turns back to Dean. The two kids were sitting next to him. “Is it okay if I go?”

Dean looked around him, Wyatt was almost asleep, and Gigi was watching the movie. “Yeah.” He nodded.

Dean had already settled on the idea of having a girl. He actually thought Beau was going to be a girl, he wasn’t sure if he would be a good boy dad. To be honest he didn’t think he would be a good dad at all. But turns out he was wrong. Allie’s words.

There was one thing Dean wasn’t a big fan of having a girl. Other boys. Yes his daughter wasn’t even born yet and he was already mad at the potential boys that could hit on her when she was older. It was crazy he knew, but Dean knew how guys could be, sometimes they didn’t care for the girl’s feelings. He had done it with Allie. He broke her heart. Yet here he was, happily married for five years now.

Gigi moves on her spot, laying on Dean’s arm. He looked at her, she was almost asleep too. Her eyes were fighting to keep open. He smiled at that sight. Not so long from now, it would be his daughter sleeping in his arms. It was weird, how much Dean was excited for that.

He could picture him playing with Beau and Ivy.

-

Garrett was happy that Dean convinced him to go out with Hannah. That night they talked, and did some things else, but what mattered was that they were okay again. He promised he would try and be more present at home and they had made an agreement of going out alone at least once a month, to keep the romance going, Hannah’s words.

But one night away from the twins and they were already both missing them.

They ended up going back to the house earlier than they said they would. Hannah opened the door slowly not to wake anyone. It was almost twelve am, they were probably all asleep. As soon as they were both inside they heard a tv sound. They shared a look and went to see who was up.

Turns out no one was awake. Actually they were all asleep in the living room, with the tv on. Dean was sitting on the couch, Wyatt was laying down on his legs and Gigi was laying on his arm. Dexter and Victor were sharing a chair, both were sleeping on top of each other, it was hard seeing where Dexter started and Victor ended. Allie and Beau were nowhere to be found.

“Should we wake them?” Garrett whispered.

“Probably.” Hannah says “Sleeping on the couch is not really good.”

Garrett woke Dexter and Victor first, while Hannah got Gigi. The girl mumbles something in her sleep, but quickly settles on her mothers arms. Hannah, Dexter and Victor got up, leaving Garrett to get Wyatt and wake up Dean.

Not the nicest job. Dean hates being woken up, he usually flips them off and goes back to sleep. So he slowly gets Wyatt and then calls Dean. “D.”

“What?” He says with his eyes still closed.

“You should go to your bed.” He says softly. Dean opens his eyes and looks around the living room, everyone had left. He doesn’t say anything, only gets up and starts to walk to his room. Garrett follows him, with the sleeping five year old in his arms. “Hey D,” he says before they separate

“Yeah?” He turns around, rubbing his head

“Thank you for convincing me to go out with Weslly.”

“Anytime!” He says, walking back to his room.
