Chapter Text
This ends.
For all of us.
End communication.
The line was cut off, and the man stared at the small match in his trembling hand. Henry had expected this, it was his idea to burn everything to the ground. It was the plan that formed in his mind ever since he knew that this was the only way to end it all, to end the suffering of his daughter and others like her and the hatred he held towards that monster of a man.
But for a split second, he hesitated.
Everything he did until now was for vengeance, his own desire to give the man who killed his daughter what he deserved. And now, that man was trapped in a room not far from an exit, yet he couldn’t escape, despite the metal suit he wore constantly banging against the walls, in a desperate attempt to get out. Of course, Henry made sure of that before choosing this location.
But had it all been worth it?
A thought surfaced in his mind. Letting go of the match meant he could accomplish what he had lived for until now. He should have felt happy, satisfied even. Yet he felt empty inside, without a trace of contentment, or even relief, for that matter.
By then, it was too late.
The match fell to the floor, igniting the fuel that had been spread throughout the building. As expected, it was followed by a sudden, deafening roar and everything went black.
