Perhaps it was a good thing that their group was so small. Xander only had to grab one boat for them. Even with the unexpected addition of the Ice Thief Group and their mysterious robed friend, it was still enough space to hold all of them. Granted, those additions made it maybe a bit more cramped than anticipated, especially with their robed friend insisting on having a room to himself, but it was still enough.
Kiragi held his hands on the railing, feeling the cold breeze go through his hair. He took in a deep breath, smelling the salt in the breeze. He could faintly see some ice in the far distance, passing by as the boat moved.
He could hear the chatter of other people around on the top deck. Faintly, he heard the bickering of the two thief leaders. After the first time it had happened, his group was told it was "normal for those two" and to "just ignore it, it never escalates past her freezing his arm", so he didn't go to check it out. Kana was pushing herself up onto one of the railings, with Siegbert anxiously standing nearby with a hand out. He was muttering something regarding how dangerous it was that it didn't seem she was listening to.
She knew how to handle herself, she was fine. She was just enjoying the breeze like he was!
Footsteps approached him, and Kiragi tried to keep his smile to his normal levels as Midori brushed against his arm, leaning a little bit onto the railing. "Hey, Kiragi." She greeted, voice soft and face slightly red. "You feeling alright?"
"I'm fine!" Kiragi chuckled, leaning a little bit into her. Midori's red face grew more red, so he leaned back. "Are you alright, though?"
"I'm— I'm fine! Don't worry!" Midori laughed, leaning a little bit more forward to let her pigtails hang just a bit over her face. "And even if I wasn't feeling fine, I have enough medicine to try and brew something up to fix it."
He'd take that. Kiragi relaxed, looking back out into the sea. "Do you think our new friend struggles with it, though? He hasn't come out onto the deck."
Midori laughed, straightening up a bit. "Oh, you must've missed it while taking in the beauty of nature! He actually came out a little earlier. It was really windy, and he freaked out about his robe." Midori laughed. "He's really attached to that thing, it seems."
"Oh, was that the jingling I heard?" Kiragi asked. When Midori nodded to him, Kiragi snort-laughed. "Oh my gods. He's embarrassed, isn't he?"
"Mhm!" Midori grinned, and she elbowed Kiragi's arm. Kiragi laughed a little more, feeling his face burn. Midori laughed a little herself. "You know how older teens get!"
"Oh yeah." Kiragi chuckled, leaning back forward and staring back out to the sea.
The ice he had his eye on was starting to fade away into the distance again. He could content himself with just the water; it was such a different shade than he was used to. Faintly, he registered Midori's arm brushing against his, and this time, it stayed there.
Her arm was flush with his, their hands dangling close together. His eyes glanced down to the point of contact. He could move a pinky and wrap it around hers, couldn't he? It would feel nice.
He heard the sound of wings, and he glanced up. Both Caeldori and Shigure's pegasi flew overhead, hovering down closer to the deck. Kiragi and Midori both twisted to follow their trajectory. Shigure's pegasus stumbled on his landing, though Caeldori's landed neatly. The two of them hopped off their pegasi, and Caeldori pressed a hand against the mast. Shigure pressed his lance against the ground.
Caeldori said something about the flight, while Shigure didn't really talk in response. Shigure took his pegasus' reins and started to move towards the on-board stable. Caeldori's eyes followed his path, a frown on her face.
Kiragi didn't think they had such a visible divide. He made a noise.
Midori hummed back in response. "Something up?"
"No— well, yeah. I just..." Kiragi sighed, looking away and only listening as Caeldori moved to follow Shigure with her own pegasus. "Before I went to Izumo to find my dad, those two got along... better than that, I thought."
"Hmm." Midori wrapped her pinky around his, and Kiragi did his very best not to react visibly or audibly. "Maybe something happened? Like a fight or something."
"Maybe!" Kiragi perked up. "They should be there for each other, they're siblings! Maybe I can help solve it!"
Midori giggled, tilting her head cutely. "We can both ask them! And then we can fix it! So that we can bring them back home without worrying their parents!"
Kiragi chuckled with her, squeezing his pinky a little. "Right! That's a promise, right?"
Midori's face was red. She nodded back, grin wide. "Of course!"
