A silly thought crossed his mind, but with nothing else to say and no other solution brewing in his mind, he let it linger and spoke up.
“How much would you need, do you think, to get back to normal?” “Blood, you mean?” El responded with another question, and took his silence as confirmation that her speculation was right.
“I guess…maybe four hundred milliliters? Definitely under a pint anyway” she surmised, shrugging her shoulders as best she could from her position. Her response made him smirk, a tiny seed of hope sprouting in his chest, and when she spotted it, he heard her say “What, what is it?”
Unsure of what her opinion would be of what he was suggesting, he lowered his voice and turned his head away, fearing the potential rejection.
“They asked for less when I used to donate…”
