Rain

Summary:

He looked so pretty in the dusky light. Xander hadn’t turned any of the lights on, but it was still early enough in the day that the rainclouds didn’t obscure all of the light from the sun. His hair was a little tussled, and Xander reached back and tucked some stray hairs behind his ear. Dean closed his eyes, nudging into the touch.

Alternatively; Author needed this.

Notes:

I was planning on taking a small hiatus from writing, but it was raining and I would go on a walk, but it was thundering so I wrote this instead while waiting. It's been rough but fluff heals the soul. Hope you like!

Work Text:

Rain was pouring down outside. Xander supposed it was only right, since he couldn’t cry anymore.

Sometimes, it wasn’t even that he didn’t want to, or that it was unsafe to do so. It was that he physically could not cry.

He drew out a short breath as a touch landed on his shoulder. He glanced up, smiling at his tired looking lover.

“Hey.”

Dean leaned down and kissed his forehead. Xander blinked, unused to the overt sign of physical affection from the man. He brought a hand back, raising it up to find Dean’s, and the large, calloused hand slid into his easily.

“Afternoon,” murmured Dean. He seemed soft, and for a split-second if it was Christian. Christian wouldn’t have kissed him, though.

“How was your nap?”

“Fine.” Dean rubbed his thumb idly over Xander’s knuckles. “Thunder woke me up.”

“Yeah,” said Xander. He glanced back out the window. “It’s coming down hard.”

“It is,” Dean agreed. He walk away, letting Xander’s hand fall out of his own, before rounding the couch and sitting next to Xander. He rested his head on Xander’s shoulder and put his feet under him. “Tea?” he asked, nodding to the cup in Xander’s hand.

“Rooibos,” said Xander.

“Is it sweetened?”

“No,” said Xander, and he let out a small laugh. “Do you want some?”

Dean nodded, and Xander brought the cup up to his mouth. Dean put his hand around the cup and raised an eyebrow when Xander didn’t let go of it to give it to him. Xander grinned, and Dean rolled his eyes, but didn’t object when Xander tipped the cup to let him take a sip.

“Hey,” said Xander, and Dean hummed. “Be my Valentine?”

“It is June, Alexander,” said Dean. “You’re going to have to wait for more than half a year.”

“I’m just preplanning,” said Xander with a grin.

“I’ll think about it,” said Dean. “We’ll have to see if anyone else comes along who would tolerate this.”

“I’ll fight them for your hand,” said Xander, and Dean cracked an eye open.

“Will you, now.”

“Sure,” said Xander with a shrug. He took a sip of his tea, then placed the cup on the side table. “Kisses?”

Dean leaned over and kissed him. The rain was slowing, and there was a little bit of sunshine peeking through the clouds, lighting up the space between them.
