“I can’t believe that out of all the people I’m stuck with you in this bus stop” Marinette groaned.
It was raining hard, she was hours away from home and out of all the people she was stuck with Lila.
“That’s rich coming from you, cause I’d rather spend my time with anyone else in the world than you” Lila was pissed too, despite the fact that the situation they were in was her fault.
Marinette forgot her umbrella at home and she ran to a store to buy one. She met Lila there, and the italian girl decided to pull a prank on Marinette: She put an expensive watch in the bluenette’s bag, which triggered the alarm on their way out. Lila expected the security guard to ban Marinette from the store or something like that, but he checked the security cameras, and saw Lila’s little trick. He yelled at both of them for an hour, then they were free to leave.
“Shut up, it’s your fault anyway” Marinette tried to step away but there was little to no space.
“Well, it’s not only my fault, I mean you were there too” Lila tried to correct her, but Marinette gave her a scarily angry look. “Fine, fine, maybe this was on me”
“Maybe? I already had a terrible day, and you wanted to make it worse. What is your problem with me?” Marinette was really angry this time.
“Problem? Nothing” Lila answered, her eyes fixated on the other girl’s face. And eyes. And lips. She had to admit, Marinette was hot when she was angry, but her anger turned into something else.
“Why’d you lie about that?” she asked.
“Lie? I was being honest. I don’t have a problem with you” the brown haired girl said, and Marinette still was not convinced.
“Lila, you’re trying to make my life hell every single day. Just tell me, what did I do wrong! I’m sorry if I hurt you in the past or something like that. If you don’t like something about me, just tell me, and I try to change it, but please, don’t do this to me” Marinette’s eyes were full of tears, and Lila felt terrible.
“Damn, you really had a rough day, didn’t you?” She gave Marinette a tissue.
“No shit, Sherlock” she blew her nose.
“I have a deal. I’ll tell you why am I like this, if you tell me what’s wrong” Lila proposed. Marinette thought about it, and nodded.
“Alright. It’s just too much. I have too many responsibilities, in school and outside of school and I’m just exhausted. I’m also questioning myself, because I don’t even like Adrien, I just like the idea of him I think. But I don’t have time to process that I like girls, cause every single time I try to think about it, someone has a problem that I have to solve. And today I really wanted to spend my day absolutely alone, but you showed up and I couldn’t think straight” Marinette said all that in one breath. Lila was impressed, but the last sentence caught her ear. She was still looking at Marinette, like she was the only thing in the world that mattered.
“I’m sorry, you have to go through all that. But you know, you don’t have to solve everyone’s problem. They have to learn to help themselves out, cause you won't always be there for them. If you want to talk about liking girls, I’m here. I know how it feels. You don’t even have to mention your crush.. If you have one of course.” Lila said, and she put her hand on Marinette’s shoulder. She was still staring at her lips.
“Thanks, it means a lot. I just don’t know what to do with this whole feeling. I never really liked anyone, and now it scares me that I do. The fact that she is a girl makes it harder for me, cause I can’t talk to anyone about it, because I don’t think that Alya for example would understand these feelings” she sighed, to which Lila at first didn’t respond, just hugged her. Her scent was sweet. It felt like home. She burrowed her head in Lila’s shoulder, then looked up at her. “Thank you, for being here with me”
“Anytime, princess,” she smiled, as Marinette blushed. “For someone who wanted to be alone, you’re holding onto me pretty tightly.”
Marinette froze, as she realized she was still holding onto Lila’s jacket.
“Sorry” she jumped a little.
“Relax, it’s okay” Lila let out a small chuckle.
The rain got even louder, hitting the small roof above them like drums. The bus was nowhere in sight.
Marinette crossed her arms, looking away.
“It’s weird that we are not fighting”
“Maybe we are too tired” Lila leaned against the wall of the bus stop.
“Or you’re plotting something” Marinette smirked.
““If I was plotting something, princess, I’d do better than trapping myself in the rain with you.” Lila stepped closer, enough that Marinette could smell her perfume again. It was warm, and sweet, almost dizzying.
“So,” Lila said softly. “Tell me about her.”
“What?” Marinette’s face got pale.
“The girl.” she said.
“There’s not much to tell, to be honest” Marinette looked at her shoes.
“There must be,” Lila murmured. “You look terrified.”
Marinette took a deep breath, her heart was beating fast.
“Well, she’s complicated. And a bit crazy.” she smiled.
“Pretty?” Lila smirked.
“Beautiful” Marinette nodded, and looked at Lila’s lips for a split second.
“And does she know?” Lila’s smirk turned into a soft smile.
“No, she’d laugh at me” the bluenette shook her head.
“I don’t think she would.” She looked at Marinette’s lips for long seconds.
“Lila…” Marinette started.
“Hmm?” Lila reached up and tucked a damp strand of blue-black hair behind Marinette’s ear.
“Do you always stare this much?”
“Only when I want something”
“How do you…” Marinette whispered, but she couldn’t finish her sentence as Lila leaned closer.
“Tell me to stop.” Lila whispered back. But Marinette didn’t.
She closed her eyes as she felt Lila’s lips on her own. The kiss was slow at first. Testing. Marinette kissed back almost immediately, grabbing the front of her jacket and pulling her closer.
When they pulled apart, both breathless, Lila rested her forehead against hers.
“So,” Lila whispered with a grin, “still think I’m the worst person to be stuck at a bus stop with?”
“Shut up,” Marinette smiled, still flushed.
“By the way…I wanted your attention. You were the only one who didn’t believe all that nonsense I lied about.” Lila confessed, which made Marinette think.
“To be fair, it wasn’t that hard,” she admitted. “I mean, at one point you literally just sat down and pretended I pushed you down the stairs.”
“Okay, yeah. I’ll admit that one was a little dramatic.” Lila laughed, rubbing the back of her neck.
“A little?” Marinette teased her.
“Fine. A lot.” Lila smiled and her expression softened.
“I’m sorry,” she said more quietly. “I guess I got desperate. It wasn’t exactly the best part of my plan…” She glanced at Marinette. “But in the end, it worked out, didn’t it?”
Marinette stared at her for a moment, thought about all the lies, the fighting and the ridiculous schemes.
“Your methods seriously need work.” she said as she kissed her.
