Work Text:

Uraraka Ochako is a normal, plain middle schooler in her first year, with a dream to be a hero. Like any determined hero-hopeful, that meant training. And if there just so happens to be a perfectly good forest nearby her parents house, even better.

Ochako had been going to the same forest for almost 2 years now. Unlike most people, she didn't even need to sneak out to go there. Technically, she wasn't even sneaking out, since her parents never knew or cared.

Today, however, seemed a bit odder than usual. As Ochako stepped into the familiar woods, she felt a feeling of foreboding come over her. ‘Whatever’, she thought, and went to go through the motions of her training. She mostly did quirk training, since she wasn't allowed to have classes for, say, martial arts.

She had learned early on that the more she asked for things, the colder house became whenever school had breaks or was otherwise an at-home day. Martial arts were one thing she did ask for however; and her parents made it very clear it would never happen.

After a few hours passed as normal, Ochako had climbed over 10 trees, all 20 feet or higher, and had managed to keep herself in the air for a minute and 22 seconds! All in all, a pretty fair training routine.

However, when several nearby deers started running one direction, it threw her off.

Ochako had seen this happen once before, it was due to a semi-large tree about to fall down. Ochako had ended up needing to use her quirk to stop the falling. There was a baby rabbit under it, she couldn't just do nothing! She did throw up right after though. That's wasn't fun.

But she had saved it! She ended up riding the dopamine high for a while. Even when she got home and found yet another new, weird looking microwave meal--that her parents had probably just randomly thrown in the cart for her--she couldn't eat, she was still happy.

Though not eating that day besides the school lunch wasn't particularly nice. Truthfully she doesn't know why she couldn't eat it, it was just new and looked gross and her mind was screaming at her that it wasn't safe-

Regardless, Ochako ended up rushing over to where the deer were running from. She was greeted, not with a falling tree this time, but with a girl her age. Ochako froze.

The girl was crouched next to a dead deer, bleeding out all over the ground, on the girls hands and clothes too.

“Are you okay?” She blurted out, which seemed to spur her body into action. Speedily getting to the girl and the deer, the former staring at her with wide, terrified eyes.

Ochako had took the girls hands in hers--she had artists gloves she put on after the quirk training she did--lifting the girl out of the pool of blood. She ignored all the blood getting on her hands and wrists.

Ochako had to take a moment to observe the girl, the first thing she noticed was the that she had pointy teeth peeking out through her lips. Ochako wasn't able to focus on that, though, because her attention was quickly captured by her eyes.

She had narrowed, beautiful eyes that looked golden in the suns light downpour. Not metaphorically, like, actually golden eyes. It almost matched her hair, which was decently long, reaching below her shoulder and probably longer, and was blonde.

Ochako had to will herself away from her features. “Are you okay?” Ochako asked again, tone softer than before. She felt the girls hands shaking slightly against hers.

The girl jerkily nodded once, eyes flickering back to the deer with fear and- remorse? Ochako let out a sigh of relief at her answer, though it wasn't very convincing. "Ok.” She breathed out, “um… ok. Priorities.. Ah, what's your name?”

The girl hesitated, before finally speaking. “To- uh.. Himiko. My name's Himiko.” The girl-Himiko-replied quietly.

“Mhm. Himiko, my name's…” She starts, before noticing the lack of a family name. “Ochako.” The fanged girl nodded.

“Can you” Ochako starts nervously, “can you tell me what happened…?” She questions cautiously.

Obviously that wasn't the right thing to say, because the girl pales slightly, the shaking in her hands turning into full body trembling. Himiko takes her hands away from Ochako's--who feels a pang of something that she ignores--and falls to her knees, staring at the deer.

The girl starts crying, and Ochako vaguely realizes there's a chance she's having a panic attack. She quickly mirrors Himiko, dropping down to her own knees, unsure of what to do.

“U- I'm so-rry” Himiko manages to get out through sobs.

“It’s- it’s ok, your ok, it’ll be fine.” Ochako says nervously. She's starting to piece together what the girl was unable to say, and while it didn't seem pretty, it wasn't the worst thing ever. It was okay, she really did mean it when she told that to the girl.

The person mentioned pushes her still-bloody hands to her eyes, trying to stop the tears. But instead, it simply mixes with the tears, creating a streak of redish-pink down her face. Ochakos hands are hovering uselessly between the two.

Himikos sobs eventually die down to sniffles and hiccups, and without looking at Ochako, she finally speaks, voice raw. “I… I ki-killed it..” She manages to get another apology out before devolving into cries again.

Ochako tries comforting her, “hey, hey, it’s ok..”

Surprisingly, it works, to some degree, because Himiko is up at her now. “You- you do-don’t care?”

“Well… I do…” she saw how Himiko’s face fell, and she quickly adds, “But I’m sure you didn’t want to do it, or- or maybe you did but you had a good reason? I mean, you look horrible, so you probably didn’t want to…?”

She tries to lighten the mood. Himiko instead curls into herself, depositing so she’s sitting on her butt, knees pulled up to her chest. Her hands are clasped tightly in front of her knees.

“I didn’t…” she mumbles, Ochako could barely make it out. “I-I’m a freak. I killed th-the deer and dr-drank its blood. And- and I liked it…” the last part was added in a pained whisper, eyes unseeing and staring at her red-stained hands. “I was just so… hungry.” It suddenly clicked, fully, for Ochako.

She reached out and grabbed Himikos hands from their uncomfortable looking placement, being pushed together so harshly.

Taking her hands in Ochako's own, she stared down the blonde girl. “You are not a freak.” She said adamantly. She had remembered a movie she watched as a kid, a pre-quirk film. It had vampires, and Ochako had loved the concept. The blood on Himikos lips, hands, and her fangs, and her being hungry and drinking blood, was all Ochako needed to know to deduce that her quirk was similar to that of a vampire.

“Have you ever heard of a vampire?” To which Himiko shook her head, and Ochako started to explain, “A vampire is a pre-quirk creature, a fictional being that looks human and drinks blood to survive. They have fangs too,” she watched as realization dawned on Himikos face. “Is there any chance your quirk--I’m assuming it’s quirk related--is similar to a vampire?”

Himikos mouth opened and closed several times before she signed. “I don’t know. I’ve never been to a quirk councilor, so…” Ochako's eyes widened, “Never? What about when your quirk manifested? Or any mandatory school visits?”. Himiko shook her head. ‘This poor girl..’ Ochako thought.

They were silent for a minute, before Ochako asked, “Are you still hungry?”

Himiko looked up at her with wide eyes, quickly shaking her head--a lie--and when Ochako nodded and stood up, Himiko followed suit.

Dusting herself off, she noticed how much blood was on her clothes. Ochako took off her artists gloves, which were now stained red, and tapped herself with all 5 fingers, alongside her clothes, avoiding any blood. She started floating slightly, and the blood fell right off. Himikos eyes widened.

Still about a foot off the ground, Ochako offered a hand to Himiko, and she took it, which ended with the blonde girl floating slightly alongside Ochako, who made sure to tap the others clothes, as the blood fell off of her as well.

“Cool trick, yeah?” Ochako asked, situating herself so she’s criss-crossed, not even seeming to care about being about 2 feet off the ground now.

“Uh.. y-yeah, how.. does that work-?” Himiko asked, confused. Ochako giggled a little.

“My quirk is zero gravity, and it spreads, with certain circumstances. I learned a few years ago that, of those circumstances, liquids on clothing is not one of them. So, using it, I can just… get off any liquids on me or my clothes.”

Himiko stares at her, “Your smart” she blurts out. Ochako's natural blush grows a little.

“Nah, I found it out by accident.”

They stay like that for about half a minute, basking I the feeling of weightlessness, before Ochako puts her hands together, and says a quick, “release," which has them both falling onto the ground. Thankfully they had drifted away from the blood, so they landed on clean grass.

A moment, a single beat, passes in silence, before Himiko starts talking again.

“Wow… that was… something.” Himiko says, staring at Ochako. “I've always wanted to fly…” she admits softly.

Ochako smirks, “Have you now?"

Himiko nods once.

Ochako looks at her for a good moment, “can you climb?” she finally says, gesturing to a very tall, but seemingly easy to climb tree. Himiko nods once again, and Ochako puts her gloves back on.

She stands up, giving a hand to Himiko, who takes it, and Ochako pulls her up. They head over to the tree, Himiko not really knowing what to do, so Ochako teaches her how to climb trees.

Himiko finds out she really likes climbing trees. They eventually make it pretty high, maybe 30 feet off the ground. They sit together on a branch, above a good amount of the forest. It's calming, and it's absolutely beautiful. The forest is ginormous, they can't see anything besides it and the faint outline of a mountain in the distance, though it's covered by heavy fog and clouds.

After what felt like an hour, although was probably just a few minutes at most, Himiko hears it; “Are you ready to fly?”

Himiko nods instantly, excited beyond what is possible. Ochako takes off her artist gloves, tapping herself and her clothes, floating slightly after she does so. She quickly puts the gloves in her pocket, and floats just in front of Himiko. Momentarily, Himiko is stuck in awe watching the person in front of her; just.. floating. At the high area of a tree. In the middle of a forest.

Ochako holds out a hand, which Himiko takes, and Ochako taps all of Himiko's clothes with all 5 fingers. Suddenly, Himiko is floating alongside her.

The feeling of floating is already enough to make Himiko grin widely. Ochako grabs Himiko's hand, and pushes off the branch. They were flying. And Himiko absolutely loved it.

Flying was unlike anything she had thought it would be; it was freedom. True, pure, undefined with autonomy.

It felt like she could do anything she wanted and didn't have to worry about whether it was ‘right’ or whether she had a ‘curse’, she could just be. She didn't feel any urges, didn't feel the blinding of panic at the next food she could get that she could actually eat, didn't feel the tether to this world that is Toga. No, right now, she was Himiko, she was herself, she was free.

Ochako was so happy when she was flying, truly, she didn't understand how anyone could dislike it. It was one of the best feelings in the world, and she couldn't be more excited to share it with someone. Himiko already seemed so entranced by it, so Ochako made sure to keep holding her hand.

She didn't want Himiko to accidentally float away, her quirk was still zero gravity after all, not flying. They were still riding the force of pushing off the tree branch. Thankfully though, Ochako had used that specific tree for flying practice before, and knew exactly where to go.

After about a minute, they arrived at their destination. A tree, even taller than the one they climbed, looming ahead. Ochako grabbed the branch she typically lands on, it was very sturdy, even being this high up, and could definitely support both of them.

She situated herself on the branch, still slightly floating above it as she hadn't deactivated zero gravity, and let Himiko fly just a little longer. Ochako was still holding onto her hand, making sure she didn't get too far.

About 15 seconds later and Ochako couldn't take the effects of her quirk anymore, so she pulled Himiko onto the branch and made sure she was situated and safe. Then, putting her hands together and getting a quick “release” in, she slumped against the main tree she was leaning against prior. Himiko seemed to still be in a state of joy from flying, if her face of pure joy was any hint to that.

After a good minute of them sitting in silence, Ochako trying her hardest to not throw up, and Himiko still riding the adrenaline wave of her first flight, one finally spoke up.

“Thank you.” Himiko said, her voice was lighter than it had been previously. “That was… amazing. It was probably the best thing I've ever experienced, if I'm being honest.”

And that? That made Ochako smile. Despite the nausea, despite the burdens of everything she deals with day-to-day, Ochako genuinely smiled for the first time in… a while.

Himiko didn't seem to mind Ochako's lack of verbal response. She seemed content just staring at the forest. It looked so close yet so far away from where they were sitting right now.

It was truly beautiful.

They sat there in comfortable silence until the sun started setting, their cue to start getting ready to go.

Ochako sighs, the nausea hadn't fully gone away, but she could ignore it. Plus it's not like there was much in her stomach anyways, if she was to throw up. It was Sunday, meaning she hadn't eaten much. Her most recent meal was school lunch, which was on Friday, so she hadn't eaten a full meal in 2 days. Snacks, she had every now and then, but it wasn't enough that, if she were to throw up, it would be bad.

Carefully, Ochako lifted herself into a sitting position, and she felt the indents the uneven wood made on her right side when she was leaning against it.

“Ready to go?” She asks, staring at the setting sun with a grudge. She liked Himiko, and she didn't want to leave her. Though Ochako wasn't entirely sure why.

“Mhm.” Was the others reply, but it was enough. She reached out a hand, this time only touching Himiko's hand, not her clothes. Same for herself, only her skin, not clothes. Himiko didn't seem to notice, or didn't care, and didn't comment.

Pushing down the wave of nausea she felt, she took Himiko's hand back into her own. With a deep breath, she lightly pushed off against the tree, Himiko going along for the ride. The weight of their clothes, albeit very small, was enough to make them go down instead of up.

The trip downwards was quick and--mostly--painless. They reached the ground after about 15 seconds, but that was enough for Ochako to immediately squeak out a “Release!” before running over to a bush to dump the non-existent contents of her stomach. Though it ends up just being almost entirely stomach acid, which burns her throat. It's over quick enough though, and Ochako is--unfortunately--quite used to this exact scenario by now.

Turning around, she sees Himiko staring at her with wide, concerned eyes.

“Are you okay??” Himiko asks instantly, and Ochako just weakly nods. She can't talk right now, typically when she throws up she can't talk for maybe an hour or so afterwards. She doesn't know why, hasn't ever been to a doctor about it.

However, as Ochako quickly learned, quirk overuse doesn't only result in your stomach declaring war on your throat, oh no. Quirk exhaustion is exactly what it is-

And when Ochako fainted not even 5 feet away from the bush she was walking away from, both her and Himiko learned that the hard way.

Himiko was concerned. Very, very concerned. Ochako, the girl who had helped her in so many ways that she didn't know, had got down from their descent from the tree, and immediately threw up.

Now, Himiko wasn't sure on what the effects of quirk exhaustion were, but she didn't think it was linked to regurgitation. Not even just that, when Ochako was walking away from the bush, she had just entirely fainted. Thankfully, Himiko had been close enough to catch the girl, but now she wasn't sure what to do.

Without any indication of what to do if someone faints, where they were, or any way to contact anyone outside of the forest, Himiko decided that she would just stay with Ochako until she woke up. To protect the vulnerable girl or a different reason, she did not choose to unpack.

Himiko dragged--’sorry Ochako, ‘m not strong enough to lift you..’--Ochako to a nearby tree whose leaves reached low, almost to the ground. It was like a protective barrier of nature around them.

Himiko propped Ochako’s head up on her lap, and got herself into a comfortable position. Surprisingly, it wasn't hard to do so, even though she was sitting against a tree.

Himiko would sometimes hum a lullaby to herself whenever she was uneasy or felt bad. It would always make her fall asleep almost instantly. It was the last bit of the life she had known before her quirk--before her curse. Before everything. When it was just two parents and a little girl. When they were happy.

Safe to say, with a passed out almost-stranger in front of her, Himiko was a bit uneasy to put it lightly. So, Himiko started humming the song quietly to herself.

The sounds of the forest animals and the slightly ruffling of the leaves as a breeze hit, alongside the lullaby still quietly hummed by herself, was enough to relax the girl, more so than she had possibly ever been since her quirk manifested.

She fell asleep within a few minutes.

As the two girls slept, the woods around them kept them lulled in a sense of safety. And true to the unspoken words of the forestland, nothing happened to them throughout the night. Almost as quickly as the sun had set, it had come back up again, though neither woke yet.

Unsurprisingly, the first one to stir was Himiko. It didn't take long for her to fully gain consciousness, and when she did, she didn't move much. Besides the instinctual stretch of waking up, she stayed glued to her place. Himiko didn't want to move and possibly disturb Ochako. The brunette looked so peaceful in her sleep.

Himiko's hands found their way into Ochako's hair, softly carding through it as she closes her eyes, trying to fall back asleep. She didn't know what time it was, but she was exhausted. She never slept well, always riddled with nightmares. But last night? Last night she slept beautifully.

Glancing down at the still-sleeping girl, Himiko let out a huff of laughter. Yesterday, a stroke of fate made her meet this wonderful girl. Himiko had always felt attraction to any gender, sometimes animals. Not necessarily anything romantic, but blood in general had always pulled her in. Everyone, male, female, birds, dogs, deers, all of them had blood.

She felt an attraction to everyone and most everything alive, is what she was getting is. She felt an attraction to Ochako too, though, hers was different.

Normally, Himiko would be attracted to the blood inside someone. So why does her gaze keep going to Ochako, to her hair, her eyes--though, they're still closed as of now--her smile she had when awake?

Himiko had never felt this way for anyone. She recognized the symptoms, though.

Back when she had pretended to be normal--before it all caved in with the realization she would never be what she faked--she did have a few friends. One thing they brought up; crushes. They would gush about the boys in class who were ‘cute’ or whatnot, and just thinking about it brought a feeling of slight disgust. Although she could not care less about those, she realized that she had the same thing, but for Ochako.

Confusion settled in, because, weren't these things supposed to take time to develop? Wouldn't that make the most sense?

Well, as Himiko realized just then, feelings don't make sense. As Himiko kept petting through Ochako’s hair, she eventually ended up succumbing to the exhaustion that constantly plagued her. The sleep she fell into was dreamless, nightmareless, and calm. She liked it.

Although she knew that it would not last–the kindness from someone, this quiet reprieve from everything she  that was so new–Himiko could at least enjoy it while it did.

It was midday when Ochako woke up, and she immediately felt the telltale signs of quirk overuse. The exhaustion, the memories of how she fucking fainted--or, well, the memories before and realization that she passed out--all that jazz.

For her, specifically, it also came with a wave of nausea unlike anything else. It was actually so blinding that she didn't seem to notice her surroundings.

Finally gaining some strength to sit up, Ochako noticed a few things she missed. One, she was in a forest. The same one as yesterday, where she met Himiko. Two, she was in said girl's lap. Her head was, at least.

Ochako didn't even try to sit up quickly like she normally would have, no, she was much too tired for that. Instead she just cocked her head to the side to look directly at Himiko. Said girl was still asleep, and Ochako didn't know if it was the exhaustion getting the better of her, but found herself just staring at Himiko for a good few minutes.

Finally snapping herself out of it, Ochako decided fuck it and decided to keep her head on Himikos lap and she fell back asleep almost instantly.

Himiko wasn't freaking out. If anyone told you that, then they were a liar.

No, what Himikos was doing was… normal… right? So, she might've been awake, and she might've noticed Ochako waking up, and she might've pretended to still be asleep, and she might've noticed Ochako doing nothing for several minutes, and she might've noticed her simply fall back asleep in Himiko's lap- breathe, Himiko. It's ok. There's nothing to freak out over. There's a logical reason to everything. Maybe. There was a logical reason for everything maybe. A maybe is better than a no though, so Himiko will take it.

Eventually, Himiko fell back asleep again. And there it stayed for a while, them both sleeping. Each exhausted, though for completely different reasons.

It was when the sun started getting close to the horizon--they had slept so long the sun was setting already?--that Himiko woke up, surprisingly accompanied by Ochako.

Neither feigned sleeping this time, so they quickly got up from their respective positions and decided that it was probably best to get out of the forest before the sun set.

Ochako knew the forest very well, Himiko learned. She ended up finding a way to exit and not be completely lost as they do so within a matter of minutes; and they exited, only for Himiko to remember something.

She doesn't know her address. When Ochako asks it to her, so she can see if they're close by, Himiko comes to the conclusion that she didn't know.

Probably her parents making sure that if she ever got lost, she didn't know how to get back.

“I don't… really know?” Himuko admits weakly, eyes downcast. “My parents probably didn't want me to know how to… how to get back, if I was ever lost… you know?” She finally looks up, seeing Ochako look at her with concern.

“Huh…” Ochako breathes out, “well, I'm gonna kidnap you then.” She jokes, but genuinely does grab Himiko’s left wrist and starts taking her down several back alleys.

It feels like it takes quite a bit, but the sun has only barely fully set below the horizon. Maybe 20 minutes then. Regardless, they arrive at a simple, small house.

Ochako brings Himiko into the house, which is already unlocked--to Himikos great confusion--and gets her inside. The warmth of a house, or any building with heating, really, was something she missed.

Both of the girls were unsure of what to do. They were technically just strangers, and they had no reason to know how to interact with one another. But it felt like they were closer than that… or, Ochako felt like that. She didn't know how Himiko was feeling right now.

Currently, they were both sitting on the couch--a ratty and torn washed out gray couch that her parents bought before she was even born--while just… thinking. Her parents wouldn't be home today, so they didn't need to worry about Himiko getting caught or anything, thankfully.

By the time they had arrived by at Ochako's house, it was already 9:40pm, or around that time. They had been here for 10 minutes and hadn't been doing anything…

Ochako had an idea.

“Would you want to stay the night?”

Ok, so, maybe more of a question? Still though.

After asking that, and not looking over at Himiko, a moment passes before she realized what she'd basically said, hey wanna spend the night at a strangers house for absolutely no reason except it seems like your home sucks and you have no idea how to get home?

She was now blushing a lot, and hoped her natural blush hid the not-natural addition. She was ready for Himiko to immediately say no, but to her surprise, she instead said “Yeah, sure!”

Ochako did not have a guest room, nor did she have another mattress or futon. The couch was the closest thing but… she glanced down, and it was literally tearing at several different places around her alone. Also it was pretty small.

Grimacing slightly, she spoke again, “I- Uh- I just realized I don't really… have an extra bed for you to sleep in. Sorry.”

It took a few moments before Himiko responded, though Ochako was still staring at the ground, so she figured Himiko might have been nodding or something. “Mhm…?”

It was silent again for an awkward second or two, but Himiko started speaking again. “I can sleep on the floor?” She offered, and Ochako’s eyes widened, snapping up to meet the other girls.

“What?? No! I'm not gonna make you sleep on the floor!”

But that gave Ochako an idea, “Oh! We could make a fort!”

Himiko hesitated. “I've never made a fort before…”

“C’mon, I'll just have to show you how to then!”

In the end, Ochako ended up getting her mattress, turning it vertical, and using that and her dresser as points to hang her blanket on. The blanket was stretched across her dresser, mattress, and they ended up connecting it to the wall, since they made it in a corner, while using four chairs, two stacked on top of each other. They also laid out several blankets and pillows on the ground so it wasn't uncomfortable to lay on. Finally, they used an extra blanket as a makeshift door. All in all, it looked good, and was even decently spacious.

Ochako wiggled her way out of the fort, careful to not knock anything down. She joined Himiko in standing in front of it for a moment. “I think it's looks good!” Ochako exclaimed.

“I love it!!” Himiko squealed, smiling widely with her canines on full display.

That's something that Ochako had noticed, Himiko tended to not show her actual self at all, unless she was comfortable. And now that she was comfortable, it turns out that Himiko was a very enthusiastic person.

The fact of the matter was that seeing Himiko so openly happy made Ochako happy. Normally, making others happy already made Ochako feel the same way, thats just how she is. But with Himiko, who doesn't show it often from what she'd seen, it meant just so much more.

The girl quickly entered the fort, flopping down on the blankets and pillows. She sighed in contentment, her eyelids drooping. It was late now, maybe , but having several years of sleep deprivation to catch up caused her to be constantly tired.

Ochako quickly joined her, flopping down beside her and closing her eyes. To let them rest, she told herself. She didn't notice how tired she truly was before she felt sleep pulling her into its clutches.

Similarly, Himiko was taken to the land of dreams--or in her case, nightmares--soon enough.

That's how the girls closed out their night, by falling asleep simultaneously next to each other in a fort that was secretly begging to collapse. It was very nice, and both girls slept soundly. For the majority of their time asleep, at least.

For Himiko, she ended up having a nightmare. She typically had them when she was extra hungry, and that meant… practically every day. She hadn't had one in the forest because, as much as the deer didn't do much, it was somewhat filling. She hadn't felt starved that day.

But now the nightmares are back. She usually had ones about being stuck in a room--that room--and being unable to leave and get food.

Like normal, Himiko was startled awake after what felt like an hour or so inside the nightmare. And, like normal, she immediately went to find food.

However, this situation was unique.

There was another person here.

People have blood.

That was the main reason she hadn't ever been allowed to be near others, she was always end up trying to drink their blood, according to her parents. It was untrue. She would think about it, but only once or twice when she'd been really young did she try to force it from anyone.

At the current time though, Himiko could be considered a child of that really young age. Since she was in a room with someone else, her instinct was to drink some of their blood. And so she did.

Or she was about to, when she was able to barely stop herself. Ochako's arm was being held in both her hands, mouth opened wide and canines ready to bite. Her self restraint didn't last long in this state of mind, the overwhelming panic at not having food and being back in that stupid room clouding her mind.

Who was she kidding? It wasn't herself that stopped her, it was the normalcy she'd been forced into. Though she did feel bad about doing this to Ochako, solely since it would be much nicer to ask, her fear was too large for her to subside with just her normalities she'd learned.

In an instant, her teeth were digging into Ochako's arm and--that didn't wake her up? Oh well.

Himiko tasted the blood and oh gods it was so good- She did want to drink more, but with the hunger fading out into the dull, constant feeling that it was and not anxiety, she knew it wouldn't be right to take more from Ochako. Her quirk did have a neat trick though, if her canines had punctured the skin, it would heal a lot quicker then if it had been.. say, a knife.

Himiko blinked rapidly before remembering to put the arm down slowly, hoping to not wake Ochako up--seriously how didn't she wake up??--before silently heading back to her side of the fort and collapsing again.

She knew that it had been rude, but if Ochako never knew, then… oh well.

Getting comfortable and relaxed was marginally easier than it normally was. She never truly knew why, her quirk being the very easy guess, blood was necessary for her to live. Drinking blood made everything feel better and clearer. It was just so good and she couldn't resist it most times. It was euphoric.

She shook away those thoughts and shuffled a few times, eventually falling back asleep. This time it was a blissful, dreamless -nightmareless- sleep.

And it would stay like that, to Himiko's happiness. If she could be happy when asleep due to her not having dreams, which probably made no sense.

Later that night, Himiko woke up again. She felt exhausted, but couldn't bring herself to fall back asleep. Her memories of last night were foggy, so she wasn't entirely sure where she was. Looking around, she saw Ochako, and remembered that they were in her house.

The next thing that filtered through her senses was the smell of blood. Usually, that would make her happy, but right now it just confused her. Why did she smell blood-

It was everywhere.

It wasnt there before, Himiko was just tired, she just needed to wake up a bit more-

It was everywhere.

Covering Ochako, fang indents in her wrist that is oozing even more blood-

It was everywhere.

She didn't remember doing it, she couldnt have done it, right??-

It was everywhere.

She needed to get out, she needed to leave because-

It was everywhere.

And she didn't know if she could ignore it for much longer.

It was her fault, wasn't it? She couldn't stay, because what else would she do to Ochako, the girl who was kind enough to let Himiko spend the night with her, even though she was a villain.

And look where that got her now, bleeding out all over the floor.

Quickly, Himiko scrambled up from her spot in the fort they'd made together, and rushed out. She didn't have anything with her, so she left the room without looking back, and went to the door.

At her home, the front door was always locked, but it was easy enough to open. She hoped Ochakos’ home didn't have any security measures.

It didn't, thankfully, and Himiko opened the door, rushing out and barely closing it behind her before she was booking it down the street. All she could think about was how she needed to get away from the girl. She didn't want to hurt her again.

She was so focused on leaving that she didn't notice the smell of blood had disappeared when she got out of the room, away from the sight. The smell should've carried, but it didn't.

Perhaps there was no blood spilled to begin with. Minds always create things, some good, some bad. Maybe, just maybe, Ochako would wake in the morning, noticing her friend missing. Maybe Himiko would go back home, only to find she could remember where that was. She would become a villain. Ochako would become a hero. Would they meet again? Only time will tell.

Notes:

Fun fact this was meant to be the first chapter of a longer fic where Ochako either saves Himiko a while before canon orrr they simply know each other and become something of friends when they meet again during like, the training camp arc? I don't know. I gave up making this fic. So here's the first chapter as a oneshot instead :D

Didn't know how to end it so I made that happen... My bad yall
