Summary
Eren finds himself alive after the Rumbling. He is hidden, conflicted, still deeply devoted to Mikasa, and terrified that his existence will destroy the one thing his death was supposed to protect: his friends' future. No future memories. No voice in his head. No explanation for why he's still breathing when Mikasa buried what should have been the end of him. What power remains is his alone now, and it doesn't come free.
He watches from a distance as the Alliance becomes the world's last hope for peace, as a cult rises in his name promising to finish what he started, and as Mikasa goes on living a life that no longer has room for him in it. Every day he stays hidden is a day he lets both of those things happen unchallenged. Every day he doesn't is a day closer to undoing what his death bought.
There is no version of this where the debt against humanity gets paid. The only question left is who he chooses to be now.
