Work Text:
Xisuma Void was rethinking every single one of his life experiences as his friends continued to talk over him. He had not thought that by offering to take this stupid photo that he’d be lumped into supervising adults for the entire afternoon.
They couldn’t decide where to sit, whether the winners should be in the front or the back, whether the tallest should be standing or sitting down. Honestly, it was just all a mess.
“-should be at the front. We won a game!” Martyn complained, one of the few winners that actually hadn’t had a tragic ending in their games – plural. Scar and Grian, who were holding hands, both shook their heads, neither of them advertising their wins.
“That’s not important – let’s just go in height order.” Scott suggested, somehow still looking immaculate even as the heat was melting everyone else.
“Uhhh – It’s not a school photo.” Gem complained. “Just stand around and make sure we can see everyone.” She had her hands in her pocket, and her ginger curls were flying wildly down her back.
“Gem’s not wrong.” Pearl voiced, smiling at her friend. “Though maybe we should consider heights a little bit.” Pearl was about a foot taller than Gem after all, and the other hermits all varied in height from the shortest (Bdubs) to the tallest (Mumbo).
“How about we just gather around?” Xisuma tried to suggest, wanting to get out of this absolutely boiling weather. Grian, Impulse and Skizz nodded in agreement, but everyone else, especially Bdubs and Martyn, were still bickering.
“Right – Everyone just gather round and make sure you’re in view. Let’s let Xisuma take this picture!” Cleo shouted, and everyone suddenly listened.
His hermits and their friends gathered around, hands around shoulders in the case of Grian, Jimmy and Joel, others grouping up. And finally, Xisuma got to take the picture.
It was a bit messy, but it was them, so what else could be expected.
