Chapter Text
Why is the ground moving? Austen thought.
He opened his eyes.
Why are we on the ocean? What kind of dream is this?
He saw the vast expanse of the blue ocean stretching on into the horizon until it met the cloudless sky.
Is this real? Is anyone else here?
He looked around and saw that he was on a sailboat that looked about 6 or 8 meters. He also saw his three best friends tied up to the mast with what looked like thick rope. Seeing the others were tied up, he looked down at himself and realized he too was tied up. But this time to the helm of the ship. First I need to wake them and then we can all figure this out.
“David! James! Elliot!” He shouted. “Are you there? Can you hear me?”
He heard the lapping of the waves against the hull of the boat, but no answer.
I guess they’re still asleep.
Trying not to think about the fact that he was on a sailboat he had never seen before, didn't remember how they got there, and apparently floating around in the middle of the ocean, he got to work untying the thick ropes holding him to the helm of the ship. They were rough against his fingers, and they quickly started to hurt.
What happened? How are we on a boat? Will the others remember? Were some thoughts he had while slowly loosening the knots with his fingernails.
When he finally finished untying himself, he ran over to the others. “Woah!” He had almost fallen over because of the swaying of the boat. I still don’t have my sea legs yet I guess. He thought while speed walking over to the others. Crouching down next to the others, he started patting David’s face to try wake him.
“Hm? What?” David said groggily.
“David! Wake up! Were on a boat in the middle of the ocean!”
“What? What do you mean?”
“A boat! On the water! I don’t know how we got here, but it’s just us four.”
“Us four? Like J and Elli?”
“Yea. Now help me untie you and wake them so we can figure this out.”
David looked surprised to hear he was tied up, but quickly recovered from the shock and untied himself with a little help.
“Thanks” David said to Austen who was already walking over to Elliot who was sitting the farthest away.
“No problemo”
They then got to work on waking their respective friends.
“Hey!” James said. “Stop hitting me!”
“Okay, okay, I was just trying to wake you up!” David replied.
“Sure, but you don’t have to repeatedly slap me in the face!”
“Yea, yea, whatever you say. You can take it.”
“Huh? What are you guys yapping about?” Elliot grumbled.
“Oh look who decided to join us!” Said David, as he finished untying James.
“Where are we?” Someone asked.
“Ding! You just won Jeopardy! Here’s a billion dollars!” David said enthusiastically, while everyone laughed.
