Chapter Text
“…..What’s wrong with me?”
Ralsei kept walking, pacing…trying to clear his mind.
It just was so hard.
Especially knowing when he goes back he’ll probably see Susie talking to FlOwERy!
What does FLOWERY have that he doesn’t?
Sure he’s more confident arguably…but confidence makes NARCISSISTS!
OPINIONS MAKE PSYCOPATHS TOO!
…He…he shouldn’t be thinking like this. It’s causing his magic to be so erratic.
His powers were easy to hide. He would just heal and lower his defenses and stats.
It would make the pla…Kris and Susie happy.
So to have his fire magic show up with no warning is alarming.
His purpose is supposed to be the healer.
It’s what he’s good at.
It’s what he was made for-
He realized he went…too far. The way was completely dark, he couldn’t see anything.
He needs to go back, Susie and Kris must be worried.
The only light was the uncontrollable fire following him.
He tried to breathe, magic can sometimes be linked to emotions. He needs to breathe and suck it up.
Susie seems to like Flowery, so maybe he could…learn to as well??
Maybe there’s something he’s missing??
Anyone has at least one positive aspect!
Let’s see he liked that Flowery….
….
Well he is amazed by…
…
Ok well his…theme?
…is terrible and repetitive.
Ralsei groaned as he continued to try to return to his path.
He then felt a painful sharp pain on his foot, making him fall on the pitch black ground.
“GAH!”
Of course, adding more pain today.
(No. No focus on the positives Ralsei.)
(You…get to test your healing abilities!)
Ralsei tried to heal the wound.
However, predictably it made a tiny flame.
He hurriedly stopped the fire out, only to see something shiny near the edge of his eyes.
He couldn’t help but be entranced by the sight…
….wait. These…Kris collects these!
It shouldn’t even be here!
It should-
Well….it’s here now. Ralsei sighed and grabbed the shard. Its aura was alarming. A completely black shard entranced by the power of darkness.
These things weren’t his favorite…they weren’t even mentioned in the prophecy. Their power was nothing to scoff at as well.
However, it’s important to Kris. So he’ll take it to them.
As he brought it closer a reflection shined against it.
At first he thought it was his own face.
Then, it distorted into a laughing flower mocking him.
Out of shock, Ralsei jumped and dropped the glass against the cold grass.
(…It’s for Kris.)
Against his will, he took the shard again and put it in his pocket.
He finally got up and walked back to the other two.
Susie smiled with open arms.
“Took ya long enough dummy! Ya feeling better?”
No. If anything he felt worse knowing his powers were out of whack still.
“I feel way better! Thank you Susie for asking,”
…He shouldn’t be lying anymore.
But he’s already ruined their last adventure. This needs to be a special one before, well, everything.
He just needs to push his feelings down for a few more hours.
It might’ve been Ralsei’s imagination but Susie seemed to relax more after his answer.
“That’s good man! By the way the puzzles up ahead were already solved by the time you got back,”
Ralsei tried to smile.
(Rememberrrr be happyyyyy!)
“How did….you two….do it without three people?”
Susie smiled, “Oh! Flowery helped us! I know he’s a jerk but sometimes he’s chill,”
(Be happy. Be happy. Be happy.)
Ralsei gritted his teeth with his smile.
“That’s…fantastic!”
Kris nodded, mentioning that they ate at the diner as well.
FlOWerY gave them both food.
(Probably nasty food made with worms and bugs.)
(…It can’t be better than his cooking…)
Ralsei felt the pain in his cheeks,
“I….am glad!”
This was going to be a difficult day.
-
As they reached near Kris’s father, FlOwEry appeared.
Predictively revealing to be a D i-
….difficult person.
Ralsei tried to keep his composure, but he just lost it.
“HOW DARE YOU TELL US TO RUN AWAY! HOW DARE YOU!”
The flower just shook his head, “Oh Raly, of all people I thought you would consider,”
This…THIS IDIOT!
“HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST SUCH A THING!”
Abruptly, Susie shook Ralsei,
“HEY! Hey dude ur literally on fire!”
Ralsei jumped and tried to stop the fire out.
He…thought he was doing so well…
FlOwEry suggested something about taking a chill pill.
Ralsei wasn’t focused on such a trivial conversation.
He listens to important ideas and conversations.
…Ok that’s untrue he’s friends with Kris and Susie.
BUT THEY’RE WAY BETTER!
Ralsei must’ve looked terrible because Susie suggested him sitting things out for a bit…
God he feels awful.
He’s ruining everyone's last good day with his own problems.
He shouldn’t even HAVE any problems.
He should be better.
…He knows that Kris and Susie re-assured him that it’s ok to be his own person.
To have his own opinions
Feelings.
Emotions.
…but if it results in them being unhappy….
Then what’s the point?
Maybe he should at least for this adventure tone it down a bit.
It’ll be better for everyone!
“Yes! I’ll just sit back. Only do anything if Kris says and that’s that…,”
As Ralsei looked down at the tall grass he could’ve sworn he heard something…moving?
Like rustling?
“Do you REALLY wanna do that?”
Ralsei jumped. He looked up to see a flower with a face….
ANOTHER FLOWER!?
“Wh…who are you?”
The golden flower smiles, however it seems plastic. Sarcastic.
“You REALLY don’t know? I saw you before!”
Ralsei examined the petals, the weird unnatural face….
“You…you were in the shard-,”
“BINGO! Welp I guess it’s time I introduce myself more properly,”
He winked, “Howdy! I’m Flowey,”
Great. Another…one of them.
Ralsei tried not to scoff, so a little exhale came out instead.
“You aren’t…like…,”
Flowey stuck out his tongue, “Like HIM!? HECK NO! That loser wishes he was me,”
Ralsei couldn’t help but chuckle a bit.
He covers his mouth.
Flowey raised an eyebrow, “What’s wrong?”
Ralsei shook his head, “E…Even though I find him unfavorable. It would be rude to talk about someone behind their backs,”
Flowey seemed to have a more annoyed face, “Don’t your friends do it all the time?”
Ralsei paused. “How…do you know about them?”
Flowey grinned, “Oh right! My oath of new friendship….I have knowledge of something that could help you change your. Well. Unfavorable fates,”
Ralsei raised his head startled, “The…the prophecy!? No. Th…that’s impossible. Even if it was I….would I even want to know what would happen?”
Flowey had a face of pity, “Are ya just gonna keep going and hope for the best? You know these shards aren’t a part of the prophecy….
That this conversation isn’t a part of it. Doesn’t that interest you?”
Ralsei can’t lie…things have been deviating from the norm. But that’s what scares him. What if he doesn’t make something better, but makes something worse!?
Flowey seemed to sense his hesitation.
“How about this. We just…hang out for now, I’ll give you a little advice, and at any time you can refuse my help and go back to the exact. Same. Story. Deal?”
That…does seem less harmful.
Ralsei nods, “O…Ok,”
Ralsei reached out but…
“Uhhh I would shake your hand but…,”
Flowey pulled out a vine instead to shake Ralsei’s hand.
“Don’t mention it!”
The flower gave off a cute smile. Hmmm maybe he isn’t sketchy? Usually the other holders of that crystal would be rambling…
He seems to genuinely want to help.
“Ah…how would you be able to join us?”
Flowey wrapped himself around the prince’s arm.
“Don’t worry! I’m a package deal,”
Ralsei laughed again. Man this guy was on a roll!
The flower laughed with him. His laugh was so tiny!
It was nice not being the only one with a soft laugh.
They continued to have a conversation.
Ralsei can’t lie…it gives him a little hope.
