“You seriously want me to explain myself again, are you serious, Kris!?” Asked Berdly as his whole body fluffed up in annoyance at their rival's attitude. Which of course Kris' only response being to nod eagerly, it was almost as if they wanted to make sure he was more embarrassed than he already was. “Tch, just– Here! I won't repeat myself for your entertainment!"
He pushed the feather into their hands, it was a gift just a small gift that Berdly had wanted to give to them for no reason whatsoever…
Just as he and Kris had a Minecrap world together just because Noelle found the game boring and not because they had asked him specifically if he wanted to have a world with them! It was just why they also had a farm together in Starwalker Plains and why they had married each other in game!
"Hm… Nothing to do with me being special?” They said smugly as they dangled the feather in front of their face, and he had to keep himself from rolling his eyes and taking back his stupid gift that had NOTHING to do with what Kris was saying! It was not like- "I am pretty sure it means you like me…"
Their eyes were for once fully on view, and they were looking at him with a smile that went from eye to eye, and he refused to look at them as if they truly could read his mind. They were just messing with him, as they always loved to do, which just proved why they were third smartest in class because they just preferred to mess with people than to make a real effort, if he didn't know better he would even say they were not even interest in learning, but he knew it was not like that either.
"It does not! It's just a gift! And like you said you had been trying to find a new charm for your necklace, so I thought I should give you the best charm you would ever find." He grumbled as he turned to not look at them anymore.
Maybe this was stupid after all, it had just felt that even after how much Kris had been changing ever since Kris' brother left that somehow they still acted a bit like usual when with him… Which had been nice to know that at least Kris liked his company even if only to make fun of him.
He had to be working either way, it was just that Kris usually talked to him when he was working here or helping around the church so he had been using his lunch break to give them this gift that he had been thinking over for a while, but he had expected them to not appreciated his gift as much as he would have if Kris had given him something similar…
"I like it" Kris surprised him as they suddenly talked. "I guess I could put it next to Noelle's and Asriel's if you care that much about what I do with it."
Berdly knew their necklace had three charms, but he had an idea who the other charm belong to for him to not have to ask about why they didn't mention their name, he was not THAT obnoxious.
"Good, maybe it can even help you to be better at Fornight! HA!" He laughed as he looked back at them and try to not have his feather fluff at how they were looking at him. "After all, is a feather of a true genius like me, I'm sure with it you can learn to be even more like me! Maybe then you could even be SECOND in class!"
They rolled their eyes, because unlike him, they didn't have the decency to not show how they disagree with his statement, besides they acted that way with almost everyone in school, except with their Ms. Toriel, but everyone knew to not act out of line with her.
"Whatever you say, dude." Then they seem to turn to walk away before they stopped and turn to look at him, their hair back to not letting him see their eyes, not that it made it any harder to see what they were feeling. "I will give you some help on my own so you can get better at Minecrap."
This time he did not even care to not rolled his eyes, they had promise to NEVER mention how much his Minecrap experiences lacked compare to his greatness in everything else in his life!
"I would like to see you try, Kris Cross Applesauce!" They snicker as if amuse of his comment, such reactions were expected considering they did not accept his superiority as a gamer in every other game they played together… Except of Minecrap of course, but they did NOT talk about that.
"Yeah, yeah… Thank you, either way, Bluebird."
And this time they actually to walk out, so as usual, he reminded them as they went. "AND REMEMBER TO BRING BACK THE DRAWING DRAGONS BOOK! YOU WILL OWE A FORTUNE TO THE LIBRARY EVERY MINUTE YOU DON'T BRING IT BACK!"
He could barely hear them as they went out as they answered in the same annoyance as they always did. "Still not my debt to paid!"
Ugh, the annoyance of their normal behavior sometimes overshadowed the greatness of their companionship in battle, if he did not know any better he would even claim they were annoying when talking in real life only to mess with him! But alas, he guesses he could never truly know.
At least they had not reacted like Noelle had when he had gifted her a box of chocolates as a gift to show how he appreciated her effort in still being his best selection for a player two… Maybe she just needed to be talked into it another way, she was just TOO perplex by his greatness! He knew that must be why she had not reacted as interested as Kris had!
